God I loved On the Buses, it was classic light hearted, funny, real comedy. God I miss the 1970's! Those disco scenes in the film summed up the 70's for me. I'm doing a tour this year of locations of On the Buses, Carry On, Confessions of...., The Professionals, etc, although I doubt they will look the same now...resident-wise
My family had a van at Greenacres Caravan Park which is not very far from Pontins in Prestatyn. We all visited Pontins in the late 70's for the day, so when I see the film, I remember certain parts of Pontins like the Cabaret and Ballroom were Blakey was teaching ballroom dancing and I do remember the boating lake. Remember my sister and myself having our pictures taken, I was around 8 or 9 - Have got great memories of growing up, spending time at the caravan and having some memorable holidays.
I was fitting the signs at Pontin's Prestatyn. I think it was June 1971, but could be wrong We were told there was a bus in the sea. We drove over as a camera crew was packing up their gear.
i still love onthebuses and watching it they don't make them like that no more i love otb carry on films and many many more films tv shows from the 60's 70's and 80's
great job! i spent many a happy year at that camp when i was a kid! not changed much at all! a true original british holiday camp! seen the film many times, thanks for the memories!
I loved On the Buses too and the three films. I preferred the other two because it was filmed around the bus garage, in town where it was originally set. I wondered when it was filmed, was the camp hired for filming and were the other people film extras or did they film in and around visitors?
Abergele Road/Station Road as it leaves Rhuddlan. As filmed they are leaving Rhuddlan when Stan causes them to crash. The bridge is nowhere near the way they would come from London but sure looks good with castle in the background.
@bigcarpage yes its still open!! the family and i went last year, i can honestly say the chalets havent changed since the film was made :O( and thats what lets this great place down!!!
glad pontins didnt change their camp to much. Not like butlins, you have to be rich to go to butlins now. Holiday camps used to be a poor familys holiday. Not to sure about maplins though.
In the film, they're in room 313. Can see it in the scene where Arthur Mullard is sat outside with Queenie Watts, and he remarks, "Core, whatta load of rubbish!".
Just had a weekend in this camp, wish they all where there with me.
Lol gutted

I called at Pontins Prestatyn last year, and it looks pretty much the same, except for what's probably 48 years of neglect and decay in the place.
The bridge was in rhydlyn and pontins is preystatin and the blje bridgd is rhyl
Still north wales!

Nice. They even have their own Badges like the Blue disks where famous people lived. Just needed the waterfall below Dyserth to complete it.
Thanks for posting Ray. I go to Llandudno every year. Next time I'm going to roll up at Prestatyn Sands, just to say I've been there. Thank you

Brilliant upload - this film was on last night...
This is brilliant, i love On The Buses. I think it looked better then. Modern isn't always best
Most of the main buildings have gone, but those around the main gate are still there and the chalets too.
We go there every year for the Welsh Open darts weekend (or we did before this Covid shit) Pontins Prestatyn. A great weekend
