Jaby seems to have totally missed the point. His speech was not about the US or the outsourcing of goods to China etc. The context here is, In recent Glasgow, world climate summit India and China refused to sign to flush out CO2 emissions(coal usage) before a certain time limit in future to become carbon neutral because we are going through an industrial revolution(which is going to be the engine of the economy) which the west has gone through already in the 1900s and they(western countries) have refused to provide the necessary technology to reduce carbon emission during the industrial revolution for India and China. This is also similar to the Non-Proliferation Treaty of nuclear weapons (NPT) where the bunch of developed Western countries that already possess nuclear weapons wanted other countries to sign off the NPT that they won't indulge in making nuclear weapons which India refused to sign too as they deemed it condescending and hypocritical.

Every time I see an article on BBC about any achievement of ISRO or any other scientific or any achievement in any field by India, the Brits go....'and we are still sending them aid'? in the comment section. First of all that 'aid' is peanuts. Also there were no reparations for all the atrocities during colonialism and if 'aid' is how we are getting (a miniscule part of it) back then so be it. I completely agree that the West has a condescending mentality towards the third world! The casualties during the colonial rule by Churchill and partition were waaaayyy more than the Holocaust and while the Holocaust was deplorable don't our deaths deserve the same kind of attention as the Holocaust gets in the world? Churchill is celebrated like a hero!!!!! He was as bad as Hitler if not more!!

To Jaby ,The historian is saying to the "developed world" not to lecture poor nations or the nation's who are producing products for West.He says that West should take responsibility to make the world a better place to live and stop caring only about West, this selfishness will doom the whole world, it's not only about one nation it's about all nations.Everyone must be fed and educated, if this can't be done than what is the point being rich. Its high time lets be more human and help all

    • @donalchomal5796

Also, the developed nations today became developed off of exploiting the today's developing/underdeveloped states. If colonialism and the west exploiting other nations at their whim (out of selfish interest) didn't happen, the story might've been different. Countries like India would've been way above in the developed nations league, and UK still catching up.

    Welcome to real capitilism jaby.
Total cost=private cost for production+social cost experienced by the country(negative effects).
The historian is talking about the social costs that the western world don't want to rise in their own country. That is the reason why developed contries outsource their manufacturing to developing nations. And because the standard of living in developing countries is still very low as compared to developed ones, majorly because of colonialism, their market is cheap. So in order to rebuild their economy developing nations, cauz of lack of capital, give incentives to attract major cash to flow in again that was sucked out. And now the hypocrisy by West, In doing so the developing nations are forced by West to excercise capitalism and lower the total cost to get deals, but at the same time restrains them by lecturing on social costs and imposing sanctions , chaining their economy in a rigid state.
Long story short: The west dosent want to pay for the social costs incurred in the developing country for their products being manufactured, but also lectures the developing nations to take care of them on their own. And apart from that dosent give aid but debts to get profit on that.

It was India that made the policies for the IPCC's 1st meeting in early 90s for global warming. When no country was listening to their scientists. Few of Indians who pushed for IPCC to come into existence who supported it from day one and was the one to form the guidelines but very few countries then signed it on that day. It took west time to sigh it. And now they are saying that India and developing countries like India should stop their work for global warming.
It is India which was has significantly increased its green cover in last 50 years. It is India and China which have huge population but still pushing hard for electric vehicles, yes USA is also doing good for electric vehicles but they are more developed infrastructure.

About the last part, it again depends on what producer's country can produce for $1. The main reason China was producing world's good was because at that time it could produce a lot more for $1 than now because it produced a lot more in those 2 decades. Because of which Chinese people got rich and now they can't produce cheaper than India.
Today, India & Vietnam are getting companies to manufacture goods, but tomorrow when India will develop and produce less for $1, maybe another country from Africa will come into manufacturing geopolitics?
All in all, if cheap countries started producing at low price, there are loads of other countries ready to grab the opportunity. Reason being only handful of developed countries outsourcing from literally any country who can produce more for $1.

China, India and other asian countries produce cheaper products also because American companies underpay the employees. They’ll have to pay so much more to their own citizens, so they outsource the manufacturing.
Underpaying people doesn’t only limit to labor, it also extends to well educated engineers, doctors and scientists. And then, when immigrants come to the country for jobs, the local citizens blame immigrants for coming there and taking “their” jobs.

You will find that yes total pollution from China and India are massive BUT (and it's a huge but), the per capita shows that what 100 people of China emit, 100 people of US or europe emit way more than them. Which means, still people of China and India are using way less resources than people of the west.

India is also a breeding ground for hatred amongst the diverse groups that supposedly "coexist" in its own lands. It's absolutely not "one of the greatest countries in the world", I don't know how you've managed to come up with that notion. In a country where minorities are marginalized and even after 75 years of independence, it is unable to abolish a flawed Quota and reservation system that was initially set up for the betterment of the people. India has just as many flaws as any other country. No country can be outright declared to be in a list of "the best countries". The issue at hand is that the west's patronizing towards African and Asian countries for being third world and majorly contributing and causing issues such as global warming and having large carbon footprints is inherently an issue that is sourced from the west. This is not the right place or discussion for patriotism. Looking at this issue and also your own country from a more realistic approach might be good you know, just blindly praising it for the sole reason of being a citizen shows for the lack of introspection and the blatant ignorance of turning a blind eye towards its flaws and shortcomings. I otherwise wish you a good day, cheers mate.

I think probably the only reason why USA outsources production to China and India is simply because of how cheap our labour is. It has nothing to do with the level of scientific development or the availability of expert scientists. It's simply cheaper.
His point regarding pollution, isn' one in defence of China but rather one which counteracts the age old narrative that China is the only "big" country that pollutes. His aim was to communicate the fact that if USA didn't outsource production as greatly then they would be the worlds biggest polluter instead of China.

A report came out about 2 months ago that said that the developed countries were doing the least for climate change while the developing ones were doing the most to tackle climate change. Also you've to look at the historical carbon emission of usa, uk, France and all of these developed nation before crying about the emissions of China and India. USA is the topmost contributor in carbon emission. Also in 2011 or near to that year, india and other developing countries requested the developed nations to assemble 1.something trillion dollars, so that this money could be distributed among developing nations and they could turn to using renewable sources of energy generation. But this is yet to be delivered. Also india ranked 10th in the list of countries that are doing most to tackle climate change, and nobody is ranked in 1st three, so india is 7th in that regard. India has already achieved 40% of its energy generation by renewable sources, which it had promised to do in 2030, but it achieved in 2021 itself. So now indian is aiming to achieve 50% by 2030.
All I want to say that despite being the biggest reason for pollution and climate change, the developed nations are still not doing enough to tackle climate change. All they have done is they themselves stopped emitting, well that's not enough, they need to help other developing or underdeveloped nations in shifting towards renewable sources of energy. Especially USA with that big of an economy , can do much more than what it's doing right now, but I guess people love to play the blame game.

Okay, i think the discussion went sideways. Everyone should note the context of his bashing the west. It was from an environmental and climate change perspective. This is the problem associated with these videos. They take out excerpts and compile them without contextualisation. Then, I guess people do not have patience for consuming full videos even if that clears the whole picture. The irony is that this change in perception is also west sanctioned.😜😜😊😅

I always skip to the part when Achara starts speaking. It's obvious that I wanna hear stuff that makes sense and not just defending your country without understanding the context discussed in video.

I don't any of this channel's movie/tv show content or any entertainment driven content but I do like watching this kind of videos where there's a lot on useful information and constructive talks and ideas.

Love your videos with Achara, keep them coming! You didn’t talk about a major point the journalist made - US carbon emissions accounts for way more as compared to their population. Per capita carbon emissions of US is 15 + tonnes whereas that of developing countries like India is 1.5! An average american emits 10 times the energy an average Indian does. Excessive use of fuel guzzling cars, air conditioning, wasteful appliances like clothes driers - all account for a very large percentage of emissions. This is the hard part - reducing this luxury. And developed nations need to take responsibility for how much they consume.
