Hi! I'm Harry Soo, a Grand Champion pitmaster from in Diamond Bar, near Los Angeles. Welcome to my vlogs, BBQ product reviews, travel & lifestyle videos, BBQ contests, classes, as well as interviews and stories.
On weekdays, I'm an IT nerd living a Dilbertesque existence in a fabric covered cubicle in downtown LA. I'm the head tour guide for a team of IT project managers who build datacenters, networks, servers, and infrastructure that helps bring tap water to 300 cities and 20 million residents in SoCal.
On weekends, I come alive as a pitmaster, competitor, and BBQ instructor. You've seen me on BBQ Pitmasters, Food Network, Chopped Grill Masters, Smoked, Cutthroat Kitchen, and local TV in California. My shtick is I've used a humble 18-inch Weber Smokey Mountain smoker to win 100+ first places and 1st place USA in the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) awards including best chicken, brisket, and sirloin; and I've won over 30 Grand Championships. I've personally taught 250+ classes and trained 4,000+ pitmasters in small hands-on dozen student classes in the US, Sydney, Perth, London, Kuala Lumpur, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii.
I get many questions weekly about how to grill and barbecue. Since I started cooking professionally in 2008, I've answered thousands via email, so I decided to post my answers via video to reach a wider audience. I'll do my best to post a video on my channel periodically. I upload vlogs, BBQ product reviews, travel & lifestyle videos, BBQ contests, classes, as well as interviews and stories.

A mad genius! Very cool video Harry. Thank you for the tour.
You're very welcome Greg. All the best in 2020! Anytime you want to cook something crazy, I'll pop over!
@@SlapYoDaddyBBQ I'm having a new BBQ area built, sounds like a plan!
There she is. I saw this many years ago and I’m guessing it was at the old place. Beautiful cooker. All I could afford when I stopped in was a rib rack
Man I so wanted your ultimate cook off and catering rigs but life happened. Do you still make cookers for the backyard.
I'm in North Houston and we have quite a few businesses that live the BBQ life. You came to the right place sir. Love your content!
Thanks! More TX videos soon on the BBQ scene!
Have always been a fan of Klose pits! I would like to have what he is smoking though! 😂
LOL!
Had a klose pit for about 10 years now. One of the greatest buys in my life!
Great to hear Fred. They are good enough to pass on to your next generation!
Why is David married to her?Omg,You talk about overbearing.Btw....I own a Klose pit and love it.
You must be a single guy?
Would love to see Harry have a custom pit built for his backyard. Could you imagine a WSM in 1/4" steel? LOL, thanks for the video.
Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks....great episode...
These are the best grills in the world! I loved this video. It makes me want to go fire up mine. 1/2" thick 4000lbs!
.5° heat differential. That's wild. How were those ribs lol? Houston is my hometown and an awesome place to visit. I hope y'all had fun. We're super excited to see y'all again in February.
We ate the sausages whicj were delish as the ribs were not quite ready before we had to go. Our TLH video coming soom.
Must be a Leo.
TOM PIPPS FOAM- BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA USA HI HELLO &
Hello Tom!
Wow!
"5000 a year", "head of Congress", wow, funny guy!
Cali baby 🍻
He's a talker!
Great video! Do you plan on doing more of these with other pitmakers? It would be a pretty cool series.
Sure. Who do you want to see?
@@SlapYoDaddyBBQ Gator pit, LSG, Mill Scale, etc... Of course those are all in Texas. Other makers will be cool too.
Next time you are in Texas go by J&R Manufacturing in Mesquite Texas. They are very nice folks and make the Oyler Pit.
Yes I like their pits. See my Junior Urias videos
With these thing we’re more affordable
Me thoo.
They are affordable. You are getting top quality pits that will last a lifetime! Start saving now and in a couple of years you will have the money to buy one!
I stopped by there one year and saw those pits. You may say they are kinda pricey but when figure you are going to use it all your life and hand it down to your kids it's worth it.
Those pits and smoker are extremely well built.
The pit performance is amazing as David tunes each pit before delivery via a proprietary method of special plates so each pit is hold temps like a pro. Each pit is tuned by the master pit whisperer. If I had room in my small SoCal home, I'd get one of his 60 inch models.
Great video. Experience speaks for itself. Bill from Tropical Heat is selling his Klose Smoker I believe. Wish I had the need. Thanks Harry.
Yes they last for a long time with some TLC. Bill's pit has a lot of mojo!
Great video Harry....Those pits are nice for sure.
I search UA-cam often for Klose videos and there's not many of them, thanks for making a great vid Harry. My 30" is my best pit, I love it. Also tell Donna hi for me (Jason from Bang A Drum). Cheers!
Klose is an American institution and his pits are loved by those fortunate to own one. Craftmanship is A1
I have been lucky enough to have had 3 of David’s pits..... One word.... OUTSTANDING...
Lucky devil!
Soo Sifu: A great coming week to you, Ms. Donna, Mr. David and Ms. Carla! Thank you for taking us along to visit Klose Barbeques! I am amazed at the type of barbecue pits they are able to custom build for their customers. With the thickness on their barbeque pits, I can imagine the amount of heat it will retain for slow-cooking a large amount of briskets, and the efficiency in fuel-management. They were really nice to show some Texas hospitality with a barbecue in their custom “Bling-Bling” smoker for you and Ms. Donna! Keep up the great work on the videos! Best wishes to you, Ms. Donna and family, furry ones, also! Much Aloha, Sifu! 🧧🤙🥩🌭🍔🍗
It was a fascinating story of this man spanning over 30 years building pits
@Harry Soo, why is the beef rub always sold out? lol (championship beef rub) :*( I'm out
Always plenty at my copacker website and up to 25 lb restaurant sizes! Soupbase.com
does anyone know where you can buy a roasting oven, that's what I like to cook BBQ on. cooking meat over the coals but about 20 inch's from fire grate to cooking grate.
I believe Weber sells something similar called a Weber Smokey Mountain 22 inch
Thanks Harry always good stuff.
Hes an landmark in BBQ. Thanks for sharing this awesome video! Enjoyed it!
Klose is DaMan. Did you see his Bowie knife?
Thanks For showing all the cool BBQ's that David has built. I built the wooden BBQ, for my old neighbor as a thank you to David for hosting him and talking BBQ. I have been wondering for a lot of years, what David did with it and the pig. We shipped it to Texas, from Bellingham Washington. It was suppose to only be a 24" BBQ birdhouse, but I got carried away. It was fun to make, since I had to look online and figure out David's design.
What an amazing story to learn! You are very talented! Was the wooden pig the inspiration?
@@SlapYoDaddyBBQ Thanks Harry. The pig was done as a joke type thing. Seeing the video, has inspired me to want to build another one. Which will be a beautiful and amazing accomplishment. It will take me a while to build it. That one took me about a month to build, working every day on it. I will post it once it is done.
I hope David Klose tasted your rubs Harry, Your rubs are fantastic.
Thanks Joseph! Klose has some killer rubs also.
This video definitely spreads the love. Outstanding Harry!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this Vid Harry! David Klose is Brilliant!!!!!! 🔥👍
Master pitmaker!
Wow definitely on my buck list next time I'm in Houston.
Thanks Harry
More Houston videos coming soon
Well, you could of atleast showed up the finished product (food) smdh..
Best of Houston BBQ coming in next videos!
Easily the coolest thing I have seen on puts.
Very cool! as a steel fabricator and someone who loves smoking meat this is awesome content.
Likewise Klose rolls his own pipe from 1/2 and 1/4 steel plate and does not start with an old propane 500 gal or 1,000 gal tank.
Thanks....great episode...
Now the million dollar question...which one did you bring home?
LOL! No room in my small So Cal backyard!
The marketing person doesn't spend time online....lol?
LOL! Carla meant she has limited time for social media and is on FB mostly
Great video! Creating art with 1/2” steel is awesome
It is one HEAVY pit to last a lifetime!
Thanks for sharing. It's another world. Fascinating.
Glad you found it fascinating. It was my bucket list to meet the legendary pit makers whose designs were copied by many after him since 1986
Great looking pits,very interesting man...hmm.!!!
Klose is a one of a kind pit maker! Did you see his Bowie knife?
Harry, I gotta get me one of those! I'm almost as far east in Iowa as you can get. It's cold now! After watching this, I'm ready to cook some meat! Always love your vids. Thanks!
Fire up your pit to melt the snow!
Harry I was born, bred, and corn fed in Iowa. We deal with the temps! As soon as the winds die down, I am definitely cooking something. I'd be a damn fool not to take your advice!
looks like he spent a lot of time at Lone Star Grills website .........
Klose has been making pits since 1986
Awesome pits. I love my Klose pit and will never sell her!
Best of Texas!
This man is a genius awesome pits thanks Harry for sharing

Klose makes the best!
That Was Great, Thank You.
Thanks for dropping by
great stuff considering the place that I am in I need to make my own pit and any information would help I thank you again for the info as always
Good luck with your pit!
@@SlapYoDaddyBBQ I have no other choice where I am I have no access to any kind of pit and no one here knows about it but the good thing is that we have a lot of raw material here from steal barrels all the way to water heaters and different kind of cylinders one that I am looking for is a milk tanker it is clean stainless steel and it would be amazing but I do need a good blue print on it and if you have any please share it would be highly appreciated,
@@hamidalikiani8543 if you see my Creekside video, you can see how a well respected pit called the Moberg, made in Texas, how it works See the design and airflow. Remember the chimney length is very important and is about 1/3 the length of the cooking chamber to ensure sufficient draft which is the secret to good BBQ
@@harsoo Thank you for the info you are a blessing I will keep you posted on the project and let you know it would be an interesting process and progress.
harsoo sharing the BBQ love, internationally!!
that pit maker is a legend!!
Did you see his Bowie Knife?

HNY Victor. More Houston videos soon!
@@SlapYoDaddyBBQ I'm trying to get down to Austin in February or maybe March. Do a 3 day weekend and check out some Texas bbq. Plan on hitting Franklin's on a Saturday. Open to any suggestions you may have.
Victor Benner here’s a tip , don’t waste your valuable time waiting in that line at Franklins! There is just as good bbq elsewhere down there!
@@MichaelRei99 thank you. However it's something I wish to do and my time won't be wasted because I intend to talk with the other folks in line. And meeting new friends is never a waist of time. I will be checking out other bbq locations in my 3 day stay to the area. But thank you for your tip.😀
Victor Benner Have a great trip bro!!
Go to LSG Lone Star Grillz
