That my friend is a missconception. Yamato is still one of their best. Rarely is an anime so popular that it spawns entire restaurants, cinema specials AND even station jingles (they play sounds in japan when a train enters, and in kure its the theme of uchuu senkan yamato OR gamilon (as i heard both when i was there wich was nice given Yamato was build in Kure). Also you could paint yourself blue and they would know why you did that and not ask, rather instantly greet you apropriatly with Gale Gamilon. Even wearing a shirt of this series got me tons of atention, and next time its full EDF uniform for me at least for one day straight.
@@christianresel8051 I think it might also be due to having massive space battles, but at the same time, people might be getting tired of the drama at some point. 0:57 and remember, they all said the WMG is useless against fleets of scattered ships.... yea not realy but ok. THat beam even scratching a normal ship will desintegrate them instantly, and we again see it here wiping out an entire fleet with ease. MAYBE normal WMG's with retrofited cores are as weak and small, yet them OG core from iscandar? Yea nope. Even in the OG it was stated that even the twin barrel was inferior to the Yamato one, and they kept it that way (even the shielding on Yamato is stronger given she casualy pushed even andromeda to the side in their clash)
Who is this "they?" The scattering WMG was _specifically designed for fleet disposal_. Also, there is no "normal" WMG without Iscandarian tech; the cannon is a direct derivative of the Wave Motion Engine's completely insane energy output. In the original and redone series Andromeda was more powerful than Yamato; larger engine output, more main cannon, more WMGs, faster sublight acceleration.
hmm... the methodology of the ship in the slices of the show i seen glimpses of... makes me think that while they took the hull of one of the very few candidates the title dreadnought in ww2... the tech they added and hardware upgrades makes it sound as if they took the concept of a alpha strike destroyer or sybmarine and scaled it to the size of the salvaged superstructure ...aka , ability to hit way above its weight but very very.. fragile ..if ever pined down or outranged before it can bare its fangs so to speak... though i do love how some clips i seen makes it look like while the new tactical super weapon took a look of interior space ,the thing taking the second most is the AA and point defense hard points that seems to been increased and uppgraded to a delicious point.... wich makes a lot of sense ,if you cant feed a drone swarm of your own ...well.. gota have an answer to keep a hostile one at bay , so might aswell combo that with anti missile capability increase ^^
In the original anime, the _Yamato_ was reconstructed with the new technology. In the 1980s, nobody knew where the real-life ship was located. Since then, the wreck was discovered in two pieces, so, in the more recent version, the eponymous space battleship was designed in honor of the original ship.

Its sad that Space Battleship Yamato doesn't get much attention as it used to these days. So great job bringing it back.
