    This has to be one of the few interviews where Mike is being himself and not trolling the interviewer. Above all, you have to admire the man’s passion for what he does (it really comes across) and his steadfast non conformity. It’s rarer than you think.

    My old dad has always been a fairly respected Banjo player (bluegrass) his band does a bunch of touring and I often asked "Why dont you guys go professional", and he said "Because nobody likes their day job. if music was my day job I'd start to hate it". Turns out Mike Patton worked out a solution to that problem, Have your money band as your day job and go nuts on the side projects until your side projects finally get the traction to let you take a holiday and make the money in the process, and do that enough, the old money band might even be fun to go back and do an album with occasionally. Perfect.

  • @cheerless3
    @cheerless3 4 роки тому +3

    I was at the show Rollins talks about at around 13 mins, I still remember it very well. I was on holidays with a German family, 17 years old (on a language exchange trip) and found out there was a rock festival beside us. It was a water park, bizarre place for a music festival. Anyway, I remember Patton was speaking in Italian between songs. Got to see Rollins Band playing earlier in the day too. Danzig were on the bill, but cancelled (still annoyed I didn’t see them).

      So, i saw the FNM reunion tour and amazingly got backstage for thier last song... they finished and are basically hurrying offstage directly into the bus to take off.... the only real time i felt like a fan boy.... everyone pretty much walks by my friend who was brave enough to request a selfy.... Mike sees this and stops and says SURE. And we all hugged his sweaty ass and got it... so freaking COOL. COOLGUY!! A chance in a lifetime for a lifelong fan, still blows my mind

    This 'interview' is simply two mate's having a catch up. It's brilliant. They genuinely sound enthused. And interested in each other. And as much as I love Patton, his younger self did come across as a bit of an arrogant dick. But he actually sounds sincere here. Probably because he's mate's with Rollins.
