Elvis Jackson Jr III - I always used BBCs until the LS/LQ small blocks came along in 1999. Now I run 427 & 454 small blocks and never miss the old rat motors or their expense to build properly. Oh yeah, the small blocks both new and old sound better at high rpm than the rats but they don't pound at idle like the rats. Mine don't idle much anyway.
uuhhhmm, the cleveland was like a HEMI sound before it was known. And was unmatched small block performance. Ask Glidden, or just count his 10 years terror in Pro stock!
Had an old friend that ran F M/P. most motors under 300ci and didn't start singing until 10k rpm. Also some of the hardest hitting motors ever built NA
@Peak Torque a lot of young regular street drivers can't drive a standard lol .. when I was shopping for a Hemi Challenger 6 speed several dealers told me it took considerably longer to sell a standard bc the younger crowd aren't interested in them ... works for me ;p I shift all day at work and still prefer a standard in a muscle car .
@@morfeophantasm7435 Go back 45-60+ years, and you would've been called a sissy if you bought a car with an automatic transmission instead of a stick! My mother always owned stick cars from the early 60s until 1999, when a dealer offered her a deep discount on a new Oldsmobile with an auto. Granted, it was a helluva lot easier to find cars with manual trans prior to 1980 than it is now. Manual trans used to be standard equipment, and an auto trans was an option.
@@sweetness34km Lucky you..... I learned how to drive stick in 1984 in my Dad's 1978 AMC Pacer. It had a 3spd on the column, with a stupidly long shifter knob that had to be moved almost 180° from top to bottom to shift from 1-2-3 and R. He was selling it to me on a payment plan, but then a linkage weld broke near the firewall, and it spent time in a local shop. After they "professionally rewelded it", the weld broke 2 more times within a day or 2 of getting it back! . Loved the video of that small block hitting the high notes until about half way through when the camera guy decides to use his "air-shifter" and point the camera up at the sky looking for birds or something else. I suppose maybe he had to use the port-a-potty rather quickly.
Great camera work! Were you expecting the car to fly off into the tops of the trees so you got your camera in position first instead of filming the race?
@@jro341 I have watched the video dozens of times. I enjoy all small block, 5 speed modified car videos. I also cannot stand trolls knocking a crewman (woman) camera work on the starting line. The camera was left on a few second to long, gripe..gripe..gripe.
Larry Pierson: ok. The audio may be good for you, a screaming v8 is always good. I won’t disagree there but this is a drag car and I’m pretty sure he has made another pass. Try the video again and put it up. I’ve put up plenty of shitty video’s but not this bad. You’ve put out one and that makes you the expert I guess.
Because it's a 277 cubic inch. It doesn't have a lot of torque. But it does make good high rpm horsepower. So you gotta turn them hard to get the most out of it.
Has both front and rear side marker lights , '68 taillights doors and grill . Had to stop the video and go to full screen thanks to the lousy camera work .
Hey I'd like to personally congratulate the Camera man on his total & complete lack of effort they put into the creation of this piece of shit video that started out nice but like so many did not obviously have what was necessary to successfully complete...but nice try you did get the burn out however now if you could just stay focused long enough like say 5 seconds you might have actually got the whole race ...Tree's looked great ...
Stop complaining, I’m surprised that he didn’t add some screaming guitar and have it drowning out the sound of the car before he started trying to film a UFO that apparently just flew by.
Just because you're used to hearing big inch engines singing bass at 7-8 thousand doesn't mean you know what a 10,000 rpm mini mouse motor sounds like . Watch the video again and pay attention to the way the car reacts when he side steps the clutch , there is your first clue that this is a serious contender .
Some real sad camera work at the end !! Great run very cool car !! Would have been a great video after all that to show the ET and MPH !!! That would have been a nice fitting complete video !!! It was ruined simply because it was not properly finished !!! Stupid editing !!!
Hot damn that's a real race car no nitrous no turbo all motor and good times that's how it's done son
NOW THAT IS WHAT A REAL RACE CAR LOOKS ,SOUNDS, AND RUNS LIKE !! GO JON !
Sounded great. Fire the cameraman.
Videographer is stoned! 🤪
Shades of Modified Production! Bring it back!
After I woke up from passing out from the camera work, I enjoyed the video
Horsepower and stick shifting, never gets old. Old school rocks! Bowties rule! ✊🏽♥️
Yeowww!! And THAT is how it's done! Awesome shifts, awesome SBC! Sweet video!
P.S. 5 speed modifieds rule! Thanks for posting.
Nothing sounds better than a small block chevy wound to the moon!

Real race cars have three pedals! Nothing like a high winding small block.stick shift!
I swear that must have been my brother filming that, LOL. EVERY video looks just like that.
That's one fine '68 you have there. Nice!
Great camera work! Were you expecting the car to fly off into the tops of the trees so you got your camera in position first instead of filming the race?
Reminds me of an old NHRA modified production car
It is
Real drag racing!!!🏁
I laugh when people think you need a 632 to run fast!
Either way, both of these engines eat money like it ain't shit!
nothing like listening to a small block and staring at trees.
nothing like the revs of a small block
Thumbs down for the cameraman? Seriously whiners!! Does every video have to be Hollywood quality?? Get a life.

Been nice to see time
Goddamned camera work is amazing FFS!!

Why yes it is. If you pause the video around 0:24 you can read the class designation of F/MP
on the drivers window.
F Modified Production class.
