Learning a second language should definately be encouraged all over Great Britain, all other European countries does it. Learning a second language really helps develop the brain in so many ways.
We were taught Welsh in school on a more regular basis from age 12 onwards (this would have been the early 90s) but by that time i think it was too late - we were influenced so much by TV and music it just didn’t ‘sink in’ plus it wasn’t spoken as much in our community regularly for around 2-generations. What got me back into the language was definitely the super furry animals and ‘cool’ bands or people using the language - anyway great idea about using subtitles in the Welsh news 🏴
Appreciate the positive vibe But 1 question. Theres this crusade to have to be inspired by 'cool' things Why do WE need something to be 'cool'.....things can be worth learning that arent 'cool' I relearnt out of feelings of injustice ..my grandmother beaten physically as a child in Aberystwyth and she was conditioned to think she was inferior to her english speaking neighbours....we managed to increase her self esteem closer to her death at least. Deep colonialism is a crime....destroys the vast diversity of human cultures

I hope this will be the case iv started learning Welsh this year 7 days straight on the app the last time was when I was 8 years old in junior school every teacher was welsh but when I went to comphensive school 90% of the teachers where English and I was told welsh is a dead language and encouraged to learn French now im older I can see I was robbed of my Culture and identity

Why not label Welsh products in both Welsh and English?
