The 35's fit for level driving. You hit one bump/uneven incline in the road while you're turning and its gonna rub alot more. Forget about actually offroading it will probably damage the fender.

For any vehicle it’s going to put more strain on the truck, but you can get wheels and tires that are lighter than most. Might be 10 pounds more then stock but at least they’re not 20 pounds heavier.
I’d be interested what the fuel mileage was before and after installing those 35’s. My gen 3 Taco went to sh**t after installing oversized 10 ply KO2’s. But, who cares it’s a truck.
I had an ‘87’ extended cab back in ‘97’with an indestructible 22R 5spd and put real ‘33’s on it with no issue. Locked the diff, let out the clutch and it climbed mountains for years with no mods. Bring that new mall crawler to the table, no contest with a “REAL” Yota.
Mike, I will point out that even some tires that state 35" x 12.5" are smaller. I put BFG KM3 35 x 12.5 on my daughters LJ, but they are really 34.5." You have to dig down into the mfg's detailed specs to find out what they really are. In my experience, a company like Toyo actually gives you 35" when they say it is 35."
Mike! Im a tech from chitown 4x4. All we work on is toyotas and if they do an alignment and push the caster positive. Max caster all the way. Fix camber and tow. With the mud flaps gone and some slight trimming with a razor blade they should fit!

There's a 0% chance that suspension in cycling and clearing 35's. I have a good deal of experience with 2nd and 3rd gen tacomas and the amount of cutting and clearance that is needed is massive.
The trans issue can be solved by adding an after market trans cooler, really only happens when your pushing the truck to the limits for an extended period of time
Even if you get a 35x12.50 only two select manufacturers tires measure to a true 35” but yes that is still a 35. I hate this discussion. A 315/70/17 is also equivalent.
You really should have done a full off road comparison between the Taco & a Colorado Bison!!! Would like to have known the weight difference between the stock wheel/tire combo & new ones!
I have an 08 tundra with an arb front bumper and smitty built rear bumper. Nice leveling kit and some off road tires. Bought it for $28k with 80k miles, I have 210k miles and all I’ve done is regular oil changes. $70k for this is dumb af
Just traded in my 23 Platinum Hybrid 70k before the recalls affect more than what they say. Back in a V8, for only 50k, feels and sounds better. Especially on the wallet
Those are the compression adjustments most likely if there is only one dial, if there are 2 dials then the lower one is usually rebound adjustment and upper is compression. The compression slows the rate of up travel; the higher the number, the more resistance to up travel you'll have.
I love a lot of things about the new Tacoma, and I can look past a lot of its flaws like interior room and comfort, but I just can’t deal with that motor, and I don’t mean the hybrid system, that could have stayed. Every manufacturer that has opted for a smaller motor and slapping a turbo on it, generally has had pretty bad motor issues of some sort. Toyota is dealing with it now on the Tundra, Ford went through it on almost every Eco boost, but especially in the trucks and SUV’s, and a few other brands as well. There would never be a replacement for displacement.
I remember looking at a fully loaded trd pro Tacoma and 4Runner 6 years ago 49k out the door 70K seems insane with the known issues these trucks are having
I used to have an old Ford Explorer fieldbomber with 35 x 12.5 Thornbird swampers on it that rubbed so bad they polished the frame. I should have bought rim spacers but the mirrors were already blown off from slamming it between trees. Man, I miss that truck lol
Beautiful Taco ! But they are having some issues now and hope yours is a keeper. I would definitely be careful with all the modifications or it gives Toyota an option to not backup the warranty.
Hey Mike, you can unbolt the cab mount that’s behind the front tire to give you more space, and or aftermarket adj upper control arms if you want to go bigger in the future.

Especially on the crappy in line 4 4th GEN, you could get a lightly used third GEN and turn it into a full on pre-runner for that price.

Just make sure you don’t hit a bump while turning, that’s when it bites into the actual fender.
