I remember as a (Christian, professing-)Baptist buying a book of testimonials from converts to Catholicism (Surprised by Truth, compiled by Patrick Madrid) in the hopes of learning more about them to better evangelize them (as we were being instructed to do). Indeed I was surprised by the Truth - He smacked me in the face through a couple of those witnesses! It was a long journey of several years, one that continues today, but I was received into the Roman Catholic Church in 2008. God bless you on your continued journey, Joe!

You are our brother in Christ. Your baptism makes you part of the universal church. I know that most fellow Catholics who watch you are very grateful for the level of respectful inquiry you show when you tour with what is essentially our family homes.
People will push you to convert, but it is only because we think you’re a unique and beautiful soul, and we want to share our joy with you and your family in the rest of the sacraments of initiation.

I’ve only been in non-denominational, contemporary churches, many of which don’t have a week-round location to just “stop in” to talk to your priest/pastor. I’ve finally found a reformed Baptist-church that has this Catholic-church atmosphere….but it’s so odd still when my pastor singles me out, mentions me by name, asks if I need help w/ anything at home….
What?! I’m used to pastors hiding-out in the Green Room until it’s time to teach, dodging out the back door before the final-song and ignoring requests during the week to discuss things.

As a Catholic who converted almost 2 years ago from protestantism I appreciated this video very much. I encourage everyone to find a local Catholic parish and inquire about RCIA. As for baptism when you spoke about it after Holy Water, the average age in ancient Rome was 27 years old. They couldn't wait for people to "become old enough" because parents have always been understood able to make that decision for their family as God intended for his people just as children are to honor their mother and father in the 10 commandments. For example, what does it mean to honor your father and mother? In the King James Bible it doesn't explain that. In Sirach it does (which was included in the original King James Bible but then removed). Also 2 entire families were baptized in Acts and I encourage everyone to read the Church Fathers about the foundational beliefs on baptism. God bless!

Most churches built in the traditional style will have statues, stained glass windows, art work, all depicting a preview of heaven. In times past, when most people were illiterate these objects told them stories from the bible and the lives of saints and of Jesus. Then there are the stations of the cross, what Jesus went through from his arrest to Crucifixion. Then, at Mass, heaven and earth meet. We view the crucifixion. We are there. Time and space cease to exist for that moment. We receive the real body and blood of Christ. We are united to him and he to us.

Matt - keep up the 'exploration' with sincerity. In describing the 'feelings' or 'vibes' of the church buildings physical reminders, that is actually the very purpose of Sacred Architecture. This round building is still somewhat modernist. Look for some traditional buildings, there might be some in the US, but definitely all over Europe. It is exactly as you describe - it draws the eyes towards heaven. And the stained glass windows are not for colour (though they do that), they are catechisms (remember that till 250 years ago, mass illiteracy was the norm). Actually the illiterate peasants were smarter than the CRT / BLM / Transgender generation we have today. And of course, there's Sacred Art (Michaelangelo etc) and Sacred Music (Gregorian chant). All will draw you towards heaven.
But art and music is one thing, the most important is still getting the full theology. Please look up the Eucharistic Miracles - John 6, 1 Cor 10, 11. Dr Scott Hahn, Dr Brant Pitre, Steve Ray, Tim Staples give good, clear talks. A young UA-camr Cameron Bertuzzi, who also dug around keenly, and many Q&As, finally came "home". There is also "The Coming Home Network" run by Marcus Grodi - many, many stories there about all the "roads to Emmaus" - when Jesus is walking right next to you, and you don't recognise him.

Infant Baptism makes sense when you think of it protecting the child from original sin. I see it as kind of a placeholder for the individual who, when they are able, they choose to participate in the sacrament of Confirmation. Confirmation, in my view, serves the purpose of what I believe your Protestant baptism does. It is accepting Christ as your Savior. It is a rebirth of sorts because you are selecting a new name, in addition to your birth name, to which you go forth and identify with as a Confirmed Catholic.

Question? How come Protestants are not unified even within a particular Denomination? You can go to one Location and to another Location of the same Denomination and they are not on the same page for that Particular Service. One is teaching on one thing and the other is teaching about something else. Where is the Unity? That is not Christianity.
Paul calls us to be of one mind, one body, thinking the same thing. Anyone can go to a Catholic Church and the same thing is being taught that day throughout the World in every Church. That is unity.
Being of one mind, one body, thinking and teaching the same thing as Paul teaches us. Not Scattered all over the place.

We reject that Peter was ever Bishop of Rome because the evidence suggests that the Orthodox branches came first. There is none that suggest that Peter ever formed the first church in Rome. If he did form one it would have either been in Israel or Greece. The term Catholic originally never referenced an institution but referred to Christians being one in Christ. The RCC eventually took that as "evidence" it came first but those were the Orthodox branches. We also have a different way of looking at the history of various early churches of course. My father studied this topic and even learned to read the the NT documents that were in Koine Greek as well drew information from other sources. Like most who study history, you will find there are varying interpretations of what happened and arguments for when the Church began.
I'm not familiar with Justin Martyr so I can't comment. With Paul there are also some secular sources that back up his life around the time of his death as well.

@@OMGanger It has more to do with the timeline of what churches came first. First you had small churches in Judea that spread out to Greece and Asia (not the continent, what would be Turkey today). So the timeline of Peter starting the first church in Rome is off. Greek Orthodoxy appears to be the first and then likely Coptic Orthodoxy was next given that they go back to around 42 AD. Canonization requirements are different but yes, most Protestant (or at least the old Protestant) branches are in agreement with the Nicene Creed regarding faith and the Council of Chalcedon's Creed regarding Christ's dual nature. The Catholic Church does not get the credit it deserves. It kept the dark occult out of the mainstream on the ascent from the dark age to the age of reason. It established all the great universities and centers of learning and the hospitals.
The Irish monasteries preserved learning and enabled civilization in Continental Europe after the dark age. It was wary of science, but once it was determined nothing was occult it was fully on board with it and enabled it.
It will be a bulwark against today's threats; eliminative materialism and trans humanism. He'd just meet people on the shore, the road... public squares... the temple - or in someone's house... Any where would be suitable...
And - now we've got these palaces. In every denomination. And - once you've got them, these piles of stone develop a life of their own... The day comes when someone will argue the local stone pile has immense value - culturally and historically - and that day may very well coincide with the day people sort'a forget why it's there in the first place...
A fellow countryman of mine, Søren Kierkegaard (1813-1855), spent the last year of his life arguing that time had come in my country...

As a practicing Catholic who loves Holy Mother Church I do appreciate and enjoy your videos. It also brings a sadness that Christianity is divided. I pray we'll all be one again as Christ intends.

The Catholic Church distinguishes Christ's Visible Body and His Mystical Body; the latter subsists in, but is not limited to His visible Church. Because there's only One Baptism which belongs to the Catholic Church, you, as a Protestant, are also a son of the Church, though a rebellious one -- the theological term is 'imperfect communion'; you culpabilty in the great sins of Haeresy and Schism depends on you cumplicity with them -- which means a hopelessly ignorant Protestant could be saved, but only through the Church -- therefore a Protestant also belongs to the One True Church.

I generally don't like round churches, but this one seems nice.

Hey brother! Great video and, as some others have already said, yes we do believe you are still part of the Catholic Church. We recognize our Protestant and Eastern Orthodox brothers are estranged, but we believe there is only one universal Church that Christ founded.
We pray for Unity but understand that is pretty difficult on this side of Heaven.

I think Christians agree on stuff a whole lot more than we disagree.

this guy is misusing alot of basic language that is causing separation and bad theology - keep it simple; there is no salvation outside of the Catholic Church.

Amen. You are part of the Universal Church of Christ. But not in full communion with the visible Church, being a protestant.. May Godbless you and May St. Therese interceed for you…🌸
