Pyrros Dimas was a legend. So many of the other lifters were way heavier than him and had alot of weight to counter the weight on the bar in the clean or snatch. He was a lean machine.
Starting from the 1995 World Championship in China, his technique was almost flawless indeed. The weight doesn't play much of a factor. Big guys who cut weight, they get almost completely dehydrated before the scale. That affects their energy the day after. It's a common thing in MMA nowadasy, fighters do extreme-weightcutting to get an edge by fighting smaller fighters. Eventually they get whooped and move up to their natural weight class.
I'm so confused as to why you bring up weight. He competed in a weight class. Most people were about his weight and maybe only a couple kilos heavier if anything. And there really isn't anything like "countering the weight". You're basically jumping with the bar - the point is to get maximal speed upwards by "jumping". When it comes to getting under the bar you're actively pulling yourself under by using the heavy weights.
This is exactly how a crowd at an Olympic event should be like! Truly enjoying the moment and cheering for the athletes. Nowadays, rather than living the moment, everyone wants to record blurry videos, which will never be seen again, on their stupid phones from 25-30 metres away, even when experienced photographers are capturing the event from all angles.
Few people will ever approach the strength pound-for-pound that Dimas had at his prime, let alone his sheer force of will to succeed. A monster of a man.
In training he was snatching 180-185kg for singles up to 8-10 sets BULGARIAN AF! It took him a long time to get used to that system. Front squatting 250kg for multiple sets too. For someone that’s under 85kg that was insanely impressive.

@@ΓκαμπριελΛιλα no he is greek he said it hes self and his dad and mom are from greece
@@kwstasalex6879 hahahaha, funny , look at the history , get educated than talk, there was no Greece it was all illiria , fake people , fake history, what a shame
In the final olympics he even competed with injury. Injury on the wrist I think.
3 golds, and with injury bronze. (wrist and knee)
Thisan came from a village in Northern Epirus Greek villages where he lifted tanks with cement, and when came to. The city was stronger than the others.
What a beast!
You missed the last lift of his carrier when he was about to win gold for the 4th consecutive time but fell a lil short in jerk and hung up his shoes!
I love to shop for shoes
My favorite of his career
You dont have to win.. to win
He had a severe damage in hand and leg,and yet he was third ....Imagine his fourth gold in four Olympics if he hadn't been injured.
@@angiekar6995 Yes,in his first Olympiac game he was 21years old and in 2004,at his last time he was 33years old and with many damages during his career. He was injured many, many times and in his coachs,he was losing weight manytimes! He is the best athete in Greece not only in weight-lifting but generally! He is a legend!
In 1:54 he shouts "Yia tin Ellatha" which means "For Greece"! Goosebumps all over my body! I remember it still after all those years! And he was the first one to say it. During his effort ... After some days Paraskevi (Voula) Patoulidou said it as well (with a "spicy" addition) during the interview after winning Olympic gold in Women's 100m Hurdles. The race in which Gail Devers fell.
Force physique et mentale bravo!
He is in the Pantheon of olympic athletes
The Best weightlifter ever!
Τελειο βιντεο. ΠΥΡΡΟ σε αγαπαμε❤

Great greek legend👌👌👌👌
Shame he betrayed the Country that made him champion. His first Gold medal was for Albania.
@@altinzeneli8152 that's a Greek way😁
@@altinzeneli8152Well he wanted to represent his country of origin Greece despite Albanian government efforts to trap him there.
NORTH EPIRUS IS GREECE PYROS DIMAS IS GREEK...🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
North Epirus it was never Greek and it will never be so forget about it,and something else if it’s Greek why you used to call him facking Albanian?
@@gusalien333 As long as people remember brother .. History will never be forgotten. Even after thousands of years..not because of hate.. But because of love. Βόρειος Ήπειρος γη ελληνική!!
Northern Epirius is Albanian and it has never been Greek
@@dontknow6715 according to who?? Do you have living family there?? Because my grandfather who died 11 years ago is from a Greek village... A village of Greek speaking people.. That has Greek graves from 1658 with Greek names on it.. And people still speak Greek as native language. It's clearly Greek land holden by Albanians.
@@The7psyxos Dimitros you are talking lies, you don't know history. Albanians have always been there. Don't play with the fact that turks occupied Albania for 500 years, that doesn't make us turks. Do you know Skanderbeg who fought the turks until his death? He was albanian. Before turkish occupation albanians were catholics. By the way Pirro Dhima is albanian, the only reason he says he is greek is for monetary reasons. But you are brainwashed by propaganda. Do you know where Pirro Dhima was born, he speaks albanian better than Greek. I can give you more facts if you want.
Thank you so much For this awesome Video 👍👍
