Thank you for the stems!! That's so useful and thoughtful!! I can actually practice the hertas better now!!
I think I prefer the mix on this cover to the one on the actual song, everything sounds fuller. Great work guys!
Thank you!! I'm so glad you like them and I hope they help :)
Sarah Longfield I'm sure they will! my problems always been not being able to play them fast enough, and also not being able to get the feel right when playing slowly to a click, so this is exactly what I needed. Thank you Sarah!! Love your work! Keep doing what you're doing.
I like the rawness of the original better, but the "modern" element present in this mix makes it very refreshing to listen to. Cheers :)
Nicolás this guy gets it
no this guy gets it!! :)
badass
Adam Neely badass bass XD
😄🍻You better get in on the next one

Neely Longfield collab, aw yeeeeaaa
Me when playing this song without warming up:
"Beams of fire sweep through my wrist.
Carpal tunnel now engaged
Tempo off I've lost the rythm
I am no one now, agony"
Lmao
Hey! That's great lyrics! :D
L O L!
Is that a song?
Some lyrics from Bleed ;)
Is not everyday that someone says " yeah lets record a cover of Bleed by Meshuggah"
Yes
This song is what carpal tunnel sounds like.
That's dark. I love it :)
Lol yep
Def got carpal tunnel trying to learn this song on guitar
actually is anyeurism
It’s a strumming technique that sounds like an ultra fast triple chug. Tool use the same trick for Jambi.
I tried learning this song and now my metronome hurts.
That must be a cheap metronome if it hurts from just counting to 4 for about 6 minutes
The main thing that this song "hurts" is the memory. It's an excellent memory and attention training song. You absolutely can't lose you attention on it if you don't want to miss all the thing.
The eye of the beholder. it tired to count 4/4?
I tried counting 4/4 and it doesn't seem to match up. The downbeat moves all over the place.
It’s 4/4 at 115 BPM.
Fantastic work! Major bonus points for REAL DRUMS!
I'm not even sure if Meshuggah used real ones on their record x)
+WildStudio ua-cam.com/video/cljX4vKCi_E/v-deo.html
Meshuggah have used sampled drums, most notably on the "I" EP and on the "Catch33" album, but ObZen was all Tomas Haake.
WildStudio That's cause Haake is a machine in of himself
Thanks to Toontrack for making recording drum parts easy for us struggling assholes. Let's see how many elitists I piss off.
Hey, theres a tab to this for you guys: 0000000000000000000000000000
thx
1990:
Fredrick: Hey, what if we just started recording chromatic rhythm exercises and releasing them as "albums"
Tomas: LOL, Hey Jens, can you scream some sh** on top to make it seem legit?
Jens: ROFL, I'm so down.
2020:
....What have we done?
DJENT, my man. And its fantastic.
Djent is like simultaneously the worst and best thing to happen in metal in the past few decades.
Meshuggah is the only good Djent band. Fight me.

@@AS-bu9rw wtf. Disperse "Living Mirrors" is amazing. Novelists "Noir" too.
"can she djent?"
yes, yes she can
no, not at all.
She can’t even play the song right
10/10 “Could have been better” -IGN
Destin Legarie would say its 8.8/10
That’s pretty funny 😆
I feel like some of these "djent" patterns probably make aliens and insects think that we are trying to communicate with them.
I played this to a cuttlefish and it took me through a wormhole.
Just in case anyone was wondering, this song is stupidly difficult to play with this level of precision. Damn fine job.
I think even if you know nothing about music theory just listening to it will tell you that
Still a pretty boring song though.
@@Avarice21 it’s really a meditation song
@@scottwillard7998 eh a lot of atmo black songs are better used for that imo.
This is definitely a song where understanding it makes it that much more impressive.
Yogev Gabay has a great explaintion of it!
I hate that snare sound, but the drummer dude is killing it none the less!
Mark Arandjus yep, I was thinking the same thing, very distracting
Sounds like In Flames
Tupperware snare
Sounds like one of those 5 dollar plastic bongos hahahaha
@@danielkoster8510 sounds like my neighbor is drilling a wall again
I am a simple man. I see "Sarah Longfield", paired with "Meshuggah" - I click it.

Can we all just take a moment and appreciate the skill these 2 possess
no offense but what do you think literally everyone watching this is doing?
@@notrdy4thisjelly546 you made me laugh so hard
That level of focus on her face is literally what it takes to stay on time with Meshuggah. Well done to both of you.
The kick sounds like hitmarkers off of cod😂
HAHAHA YOU'RE SO FUNNY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 If you play Cod you're obviously too young for UA-cam
@@bikelifewill6483 what's the point of commenting if you're gonna be an ass ?
Plenty of old fuckers that play cod....
@@bikelifewill6483 that makes zero sense at all

I actually heard this being played at an nhl hockey game the other day. props to whoever decided to play that lol

nope lol that would be interesting, nah it was just the beginning of the song player through the speakers
Josh ... thanks for making me spit coffee out!
Matt Majcan You know why? Because hockey is badass!
LMAO
More practice and they can probably handle Smoke On The Water.
😂😂😂🙏
Right? Maybe one day they'll reach god level and get to Summer of '69.
Jeremy McGlothlin isn’t it triple drop F and using inverted Am pentatonic bar chords?
nahh thats level 5.
Hey man that’s seriously uncalled for. Not everyone can reach the level of expertise for that. Nice of you to assume.
There's a reason why no covers exist. There's a reason why this one does. Love it.
Ok, drummer. You've played Bleed. Now play the next dozen songs in the set. Hurry, there's people watching.
Then you play another one bites the dust
Popcorn Sutton Considering this drum track wasn't created naturally Tomas Haake took some time to learn this. I'm sure you know obviously. I would like to see this guy do this live and not miss a beat. If he can wow amazing. Just 7 mins of it non stop. This is studio so I'm a disbeliever he can hold it longer than.. I'll give him 3 mins and that's a long stretch ;)
GrizzlyBear You know you can actually watch the drums in the bottom corner, right?
So you can play even 10 seconds of this?
Now that's just cruel.
"anyway here's wonderwall, the wonderwall of djent that is"
JSPskates djent wall
UA-cam: Psst...hey kid...wanna see Sarah Longfield play Bleed?
Me: .....................
I'd watch her play all day!

The 6/8 at 1:50 absolutely slays
Fun fact! The entire song is in 4/4 except for one measure of 2/4! Crazy how well Meshuggah can make 4/4 feel like literally any time signature they want lol
Over the years of watching covers of this song across guitar, bass and drums .This song isn't just a metal song its like a state of pure concentration in musical form while being played.
Amazing. Chords are simple but the rhythm....... Messhuggah level.
Great drummer too
drumming this one isn't easy. guitar tone is amazing
love the stems idea, you guys are top
guitaring this one isnt easy either ;). Both did it very well!
heret1c __ drums in this song is way more of an accomplishment than the guitar work.
Sean Ramon i just said that the guitar part isnt easy either.
The drums for this song are pretty difficult. Haake himself said he had to practice it a lot before they played it live
That guitar tone is simply outstanding. Especially the lower notes!
Saint Anger round my snare...
bro i immediately thought the exact same sentence
😂
You live it or lie it, you live it or lie it
Underrated comment
gotta love them ghost notes
Hail Santa Sorry if I sound ignorant, but what is a ghost note?
A note you kinda skip over very fast. A riff without ghost notes would still be recognizable, but will sound weaker and slower.
Edgar Alonso Corral Lechuga if you watch him on the snare all of his little quiet taps are ghost notes
"Don't worry 'bout dem ghost notes!" -Pretty Purdie
Always wanted an instrumental version of this and now I got a well made one as well, thanks and keep it up
Muhannad Burwais
I love meshuggah but their vocal style is off putting
exactly what i wanted too
what about it do you not like if you dont mind me asking?
I agree with him. I love the rythm complexity, the unusual arrangements and surprises you get in metal, but I just can't get used (yet) to the vocals. That's why I am stuck with Dream Theatre at the moment, has Labrie is melodically singing still
Absolutely bad ass!!!!! I love bleed but hearing it without vocals just takes it to a new level. They Killed it!!
Lars called, he wants his st. Anger snare back.
OOF
🤣
That's nowhere near st anger
i think it sounds stock
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
The drums in this song remind me of the thudding of a muscle car.
I was just thinking that they sound like a lopey cammed muscle car
I literally never thought of it like that, until now. Legit V8 idling, revving, idling 😂👌
yeah that unstable idle from a two stroke as well
This is very true

I've got 16 strings and I'm going to use all 2 of them!
She didn't write it smart ass, she just covered it.
Dude it’s a cover, I didn’t write the song lmao
@Sarah Longfield, the thing is, you thoroughly nailed it, and in doing so you made it look like you did!
Nice work too.
I guarantee you couldn't play it, nevermind at this level of precision.
Your parents are siblings right?
I’m continually drawn to your performance on this - this was my 1st introduction to the song AND band- your attention & execution are flawless!! Killer job!
So now we just gotta get Leo Moracchioli to do the vocals and presto - something amazing is born.
Love Leo, but Justin from Hungry Covers would kill it: ua-cam.com/video/2LlYqV-zKIU/v-deo.html
Holy fuck this is incredible.
Goddamn, It's like Sarah has an extra brain inside each hand! This sounds amazing and super complex. Great cover guys!
OMG so perfect...gave me goosebumps and chills
This song never fails to impress me.
Sounding tight! Great cover 🤘
Your eyes stare into my soul and rip it to pieces and then stitches them back together.
GREAT PLAYING! Not an easy song to replicate but one of the best covers ive seen.
Now that is a guitar and drum cover. As a duo, even better. Well done you two!!! Got a new subscriber cause of this. Lol
No surprise, you nailed it as usual, amazing work! I was expecting vocals, the way you screamed on Rob's video was amazing and I was hoping we'd get more of that
YOU ARE BACK! AND YOU COVER BLEEEEED! HAPPY DAAAAAAAY!
I haven't been on your channel in a while. But good call on "Bleed", Sarah Longfield. One of the most iconic Meshuggah songs. :)
Just amazing!! And THAT guitar ... ❤️
Greatest compliment I can give this is the fact that I keep coming back to this video over the original. Love the execution & mixing.

Great video, Sarah!
The slow bend riff in this song is genius

Who on earth jams on a track like this!? Those drumming variations were severely impressive
Always loved that signature rattle like drum and guitar riff. Great stuff!
Congrats on the awesome cover, you have both achieved true enlightendjent
To those of you saying "sorry that was boring" ... I was very confused at first. I thought, how was that boring? It was a fantastic rendition of Bleed. An iconic song. ...But I now realize that Obzen came out nearly 10 years ago. Perhaps you all missed it, are too young, etc... It blows my mind. Does that mean that Destroy Erase Improve is "Dad Rock" now? Lol... I'm getting old I guess.
BrianOfAteionas I can assure you they know this song. They just don't know good metal when they hear it.
I have to imagine that the type of kids who click a video that says "Meshuggah Bleed", and hear a fantastic rendition of Meshuggah's Bleed, and then comment that it's boring, are then the type who are also young enough to not just be immature trolls, but also might be too young to appreciate it. Like... You already know Meshuggah isn't hardly melodic. You know you didn't just click on an Intervals cover or something. And the comments I'm seeing are not like "Less of this please, I find Meshuggah boring" it's just like "Sorry. This is boring" ... Like wtf were you expecting? It doesn't say "Meshuggah's Bleed but every time I slap I bleed profusely" (shoutout to Davie405 btw) or... "Meshuggah's Bleed done in the style of LMFAO's sexy and I know it" Kids these days. Stay off my lawn. Etc...
I mean... look at the song from the perspective of someone who isn't really familiar with Meshuggah. Not only is it unmelodic, it's based on like three really similar riffs and a drum pattern, which, while intricate and badass on a technical level, does not really bring much to the table, it just helps the drummer with his cardio TBH. Yes, Meshuggah are pioneers, but take a listen to the music Sarah has been putting out lately that might have brought new audience here. It's vastly different and, honestly, much more interesting of a listen.
Also, complaints about music taste based off listener's age are almost as lazy as the "you just don't get it" phrase.
Absolutely love this!
ok might just be my option but that snare sounds like he's hitting a bin lid.
Legendary song! The variations in the drum parts were cool. 👌
OK Porn can wait
This work itself is porn
If you aren't jacking it in rhythm to bleed are you actually jacking it?
@@markstephens3428 it's music porn i think. :D
Hahahaha yes
What kind of stuff is OK Porn?
This is also have amazing sound. This is so smooth. Great job !
Sarah picking? Never thought I’d see it😂
Was super enjoyable. I find no reason to comment on mixing / style anything as you obviously wanted it this way and it something I coudl really enjoy.
this whole song seems like a copy and paste of the first 4 bars with some exception but i cant exclude that someone might actually like it xD
WTF Because obviously you don't play any instrument.
The only thing oblivious here is how metal has become boring this song its like an engine with some stubborn owner and ignition problems... and btw what do you knw about me..
WTF It's only because there are more metal players and you have Internet to discover other bands now. It's not the metal changed, it's that there are more shit you have to look for good stuff.
WTF This song is not my taste but it's a nice song. So bland but so hard to play. If you play instrument you will know.
Sarah at the perfection of:
*Do Play Exciting, Don't Play Excited*
The right hand just so quick! I'm inspired to make my own cover, thank you :3
R.I.P Right hand, you'll forever be missed

you know, their playthrough actually adds a layer of clarity to the song-- good mid frequencies and a solid performance by both musicians; excellent work. she's blinking in time.
I have been jamming to this prolly once a week for several months now. Thank you guys. 🤙🏼🍻
Amazing achievement! I enjoyed this a lot!!
I would have killed to hear her do vocals for this too.
Still relevant in 2020
No we really know why she hasn't uploaded in awhile, learning thus song! Took the band six months to write and master!
Open Nashville more like two weeks at most, for musicians this talented.
2-3 weeks with ample amounts of practice (4-5 hours a day imo)
This song is fucking hard to play
Insane cover guys! Heading the instrumental of this really makes you appreciate the musician ship of Meshuggah, keep it up!
2:30 - 2:48 that was incredible! I absolutely love your rendition and what you did with the song.
Well Sarah and Tony ...probably you both needed to ice your heads after recording this !!!! Congratulations on doing serious justice to this metal classic ...yes this song will be remember way after humanity vanishes !!!!!!!!
That guitar part is so brutal on your hand. Very impressed, more than 30 seconds most guitars have to tap out
Yes... 20 secondes for me...
Amazing job both!! I keep pursuing to play this song foreveeeeeeeeeeeeer!
This never gets old
perfect to train vocals
great!!!!
hey from Wisconsin!
great playing!
These two absolutely KILLED IT!!!🤘
On another level!!!!!!
Why is that snare 2x as loud as anything else.
Man it's such an awful sound. It takes over the entire mix when it gets hit
I think its well balanced in the track. If you play guitar, you probably would prefer there to be no drums at all. Since drums keep time primary, you should easily be able to hear the snare through any other sound in the song. Sorry :/
@@BrianGivensYtube The problem is that snares are naturally easy to hear and the tone of this snare is just too... in-your-face at the volume that it was set to. It cuts through the mix too much.
@@BrianGivensYtube What kind of a shitty explanation is that, if it sounds bad it sounds bad, stfu.
@@wannabeserpento99 What a pathetic reply. Not even worth my time to read it lulz. If you have nothing constructive to say, maybe you should stfu.
