En 2009, elle fonde son propre orchestre de chambre, Orfeo 55, ensemble jouant aussi bien sur instruments modernes que baroques, ce qui lui permet de s'aventurer en tout liberté dans les répertoires les plus divers. Son expérience de musicienne romantique et sa connaissance des styles anciens lui permettent d'aborder avec le même succès aussi bien Vivaldi et Mozart que Beethoven, Wagner ou Brahms.
L'approche de Nathalie Stutzmann, à la fois libre et rigoureuse, sa science du phrasé et l'intensité émotionnelle de ses interprétations, sa maîtrise exceptionnelle au service de la passion qu'elle communique sont autant d'éléments qui la font apprécier du public et des orchestres qu'elle dirige.
Orfeo 55 est en résidence à l'Arsenal de Metz.
Extraordinaire interprétation. J'aime la version de Philippe Jaroussky mais Nathalie Stutzmann me donne la chair de poule. Quelle voix magnifique !

I worked with her and Sara Mingardo at the Detroit Symphony. They used one of my harpsichords for the Messiah.it was truly one of the greatest moments of my life!

This is my favourite. I like Scholl and various counter tenors singing this but Nathalie's voice is more tender and powerful. What a paradox. My heart shifts every time I listen .

I heard this on first time in 1959, when I was 2 and a half years old, when my Dad played the Largo on the Harmonium. He had to play it for me several times, cause Iike(ed) it sooo much that I must cry-it touched and touches my soul in a very deep way.
Such raw emotion, such raw power in Stutzman's voice. She proves that you don't need a high whistling voice to sing beautifully.

I don't know why, but her conducting the orchestra before singing adds hugely to the performance for me. Great ! Great ! Great !

@@musicbox63 The contralto sings the lowest vocal range in the female voices' section. The mezzosoprano voice is in between higher and lower registro. I'm a contralto too.

This is originally a tenor aria, but Ms Stutzmann can sing it like none other in our time. A true contralto voice and a great musician. May it go well with her conducting career also.
This was written for a soprano castrato, not for a tenor.
It can be sung by modern countertenors like Scholl and Jaroussky too.

Can recommend Quella Fiamma shows so many different colours vocal and instrumental on the one album. Also Heroes from the Shadows . Fantastic arias by Handel given to minor characters in his opera's and The Vivaldi album Prima donna.

There is nothing "delicate" about this --and that is what most disappoints. A butcher with a meat ax would be more delicate -- the fault I presume, more of the conductor, who uttterly fails to understand either the selection or it's composer.What a pity !!!

WHAT A SUBLIME PERFORMANCE! What I see and hear in this performance is an exceptional voice from an exceptionally talented musician, conductor and singer. But more than that what takes this performance to a penultimate level is Ms. Stutzmann's ability to choose the best musicians and create an atmosphere where they will want to excel for her. It is almost unseen where the orchestral performers will be smiling at their conductor/singer during a performance. This type of chemistry isn't written in musical score, but elevates the performance to an etherial level. Thank you Nathalie Stutzmann for creating this, and for taking me a little closer to heaven.
