    ________________________________________________________________
    00:00 Intro
In this video, I'm going to show you how to tie a bow tie the easy way. Every man should be able to tie his own bow tie. Only boys at prom wear pre-tied bow ties or clip-on bow ties. You should never wear that, it shows, it's too symmetrical, it's too perfect, it looks cheap.
    00:29 Slightly-Skewed Bowtie
Elegant men like Winston Churchill would always wear their bow tie slightly skewed and that shows the true character of a perfectly tied bow tie. It is not symmetrical. In recent years, bow ties have become much more popular and this is the easiest way to tie it.
    00:52 Adjustable Bowtie
If you have an adjustable bow tie, adjust to the right length. Usually, you use the neck size that you have for your shirt but you can play around with it.
    01:02 Fixed-Length Bowtie
If you go for a fixed length bow tie like the black bow ties from Fort Belvedere, you won't need to adjust anything. Once it's adjusted, throw it around your neck, flop down your collar, and button the top button. You may want to pull on the inside so it looks neat. Alright, this is how you tie it. First, the left side of your bow tie to be about an inch or one and a half inches longer than your right one.
01:30 How to Tie a Bowtie
So, the long end goes over the short end. Pinch with your left hand. Now, the longer end goes up through the hole and you pull it tight. Now, your right hand, you leave your bow tie here. With your left hand, you hold that end of the bow tie and you bring your index finger between your body and the bow tie and you move it over to create a bow-tie shape which you can see here.
Now with your right hand, bring the other piece in, the longer piece, and fold it over. Now it really looks like a bow tie from the front. So what I do now is I take this part of the bow tie and hold it together like so. Now I switch my hands and what I can see now is that I created a hole back here and this is where this part has to go through.
Now I create another bow tie shape here and I do that with my fingers like so, fold it up so I get a shape similar to a bow tie and I just push it through that little hole recreated. Now, I pull the folded ends so it tightens the knot of my bow tie, and there you go, the bow tie.

Like so many previous comments, many thanks for this tutorial. I make cosplay outfits for others and always have just sewn bows together instead of learning to tie them. I understand there is a difference between a bow and a bowtie, but after using some old clip on bowties on a costume, I realized that the effects bowties (as opposed to handmade bows) give to the final overall look gives the entire costume more of a realistic feel instead of a professionally made costume. It's hard to explain, so I will just say thank you so very much for being a gentleman and assisting this lady.

I was taught to tie a bow tie by an elderly shop assistant in a gents outfitters in Edinburgh in the 1980s and I have never seen the method demonstrated anywhere else. There is only one real difference from your method (apart from the fact I start with the right end longer and go right over left, which doesn't really matter), and that is the middle part. Where you make the bow tie shape with one end of the tie and then take the long end from your shoulder and loop it round, I was taught to loop that long end round my index finger first and then push the other (bow-shaped) end through the loop thus formed. From there to the end, the method is the same as yours. But I must try your method. You make it look so simple!

Thank you so, so, so much for this tutorial. I'm a non-binary and masc-presenting person and I have two bowties...but after trying a WikiHow tutorial, I could not for the life of me figure out how to tie one. I got really discouraged. That was 9 months ago, and these bowties have just been sitting in my closet collecting dust. After watching your video, I can now tie one! It was actually a really emotional moment for me and I started crying. There are no words to explain the immense relief and gratitude I feel. Thank you ❤

I found this video tutorial on your website completely by chance while looking for a midnight blue tuxedo. Although I have been wearing bow ties for a few years now on and off, tying one was always an adventure and had - once! - even resulted in the demise of a very old bow tie. This video showed me the things I had been missing and I had a very literal "OMG! THAT'S how that works!" moment. After that? Easy as pie. Since my wife had only days before insisted that I wear ONLY bow ties, it REALLY was a life saver.
The problem was that since I found it completely at random and hadn't taken the time to bookmark or even save the link...I could not find it again ti save my life! Here I was telling people about this amazing video that could teach them to tie a bow tie as easy as pie but I could not find it!
Now that I finally have, I wanted to say thank you and tell you that I am going to share it time and time again.

I've recently updated my style as I'm another year older. I'm not fully formal, but much more formal than I ever was. I enjoy dressing like a true gentlemen. It makes me feel more mature and more manly. Today, after 39 years of life, I tied my first bow tie. Thank you very much.

I always wanted to wear a bowtie, but did not want to go with a clip-on, but learn how to make an actual one. This was perfect!
