Hey! I used this video 10 minutes before my wedding on Friday, in a hotel toilet on the Amalfi Coast after begging all the waiters for help, unfortunately all their ties were pre-tied!!! This video really helped and I was told I realy looked the part on our special day. Thank you so much for such a clear, descriptive and direct tutorial. Faithfully,Alex

They talk about imperfection because they cannot master the correct technique. I think men look awful and unkempt when their bowtie is crooked.

The best demonstration I’ve seen so far. The nipping together of the bow tie ends so you can see the hole at the back is the best ever for threading through to finish the tie.

Between the camera angles, the cut between angles, the presenter's hand and the fast pace what's actually happening from 2:30, the hardest part of the knot, is inscrutable.

I was taught to tie a bow tie by an elderly shop assistant in a gents outfitters in Edinburgh in the 1980s and I have never seen the method demonstrated anywhere else. There is only one real difference from your method (apart from the fact I start with the right end longer and go right over left, which doesn't really matter), and that is the middle part. Where you make the bow tie shape with one end of the tie and then take the long end from your shoulder and loop it round, I was taught to loop that long end round my index finger first and then push the other (bow-shaped) end through the loop thus formed. From there to the end, the method is the same as yours. But I must try your method. You make it look so simple!

I found this video tutorial on your website completely by chance while looking for a midnight blue tuxedo. Although I have been wearing bow ties for a few years now on and off, tying one was always an adventure and had - once! - even resulted in the demise of a very old bow tie. This video showed me the things I had been missing and I had a very literal "OMG! THAT'S how that works!" moment. After that? Easy as pie. Since my wife had only days before insisted that I wear ONLY bow ties, it REALLY was a life saver.
The problem was that since I found it completely at random and hadn't taken the time to bookmark or even save the link...I could not find it again ti save my life! Here I was telling people about this amazing video that could teach them to tie a bow tie as easy as pie but I could not find it!
Now that I finally have, I wanted to say thank you and tell you that I am going to share it time and time again.

Like so many previous comments, many thanks for this tutorial. I make cosplay outfits for others and always have just sewn bows together instead of learning to tie them. I understand there is a difference between a bow and a bowtie, but after using some old clip on bowties on a costume, I realized that the effects bowties (as opposed to handmade bows) give to the final overall look gives the entire costume more of a realistic feel instead of a professionally made costume. It's hard to explain, so I will just say thank you so very much for being a gentleman and assisting this lady.

Thank you so, so, so much for this tutorial. I'm a non-binary and masc-presenting person and I have two bowties...but after trying a WikiHow tutorial, I could not for the life of me figure out how to tie one. I got really discouraged. That was 9 months ago, and these bowties have just been sitting in my closet collecting dust. After watching your video, I can now tie one! It was actually a really emotional moment for me and I started crying. There are no words to explain the immense relief and gratitude I feel. Thank you ❤

It had been years since I last tied a bow tie - the times I did were frustrating and resulted in a bow tie I was not happy with (even if you say an uneven bowtie is a sign of a real bowtie - I didn't like how uneven it was)
I watched this last night and immediately understood it better than any other video ever tried and I ended up tying the best bow tie I've ever made on the fewest failed attempts.
So thanks! You made a difference to me! Maybe I'll start wearing them again.

You can either rock a bow tie or not. If you can rock a bow tie, then it doesn't matter what sort of bow tie it is. You will rock it any way. The MOST IMPORTANT thing about wearing a bow tie is the choice of material type, colour, and pattern. Those things are dictated by the occasion. In any case, a very instructive video for those who have the time and inclination to do it.

Well son of a gun, it works! I wear a Western style bow tie a lot, and the way they were tied in the 19th Century is exactly the same way you would tie your shoelaces. The problem is that it NEVER lays properly, and some of the events I attend, that's not an appropriate way to tie it.

A big thank you for this. I had spent several hours with other videos and diagrams and got nowhere. The thought that I could not tie a tie and would have to ask somebody to do it was devastating. I am at a stage where not being able to do something ordinary would be a morale killer. In fact many years ago i could tie a good bow tie without a mirror, but that skill had been long forgotten, and in a few instances since then I actually used a pre-tied bow with a neck strap. Being back in business thanks to you is far more important to me than it would seem to any rational person.

That last maneuver with the 2nd bow tie shape at around 2:40 was tricky, but fair! Good work Gentleman's Gazette I feel like a real man!!

Thank you Raphael, that was an excellent demonstration. I have always been hesitant to invest in a bow tie because it looked difficult to tie. You made it look so easy.
