What I'm gathering as a new Red user about ISO is: it doesnt matter how high you crank it, the luminance stays the same and the only thing affected is how the dynamic range is re-distributed? So if I were to film in the lowest ISO I would sacrifice some highlight detail but also get the lowest noise performance?
Not really, ISO is sensitivity, so by reducing sensitivity you are lowering your dark areas to noise level, basically there is a native iso which has the most signal to noise ratio which basically means better dynamic range. Most cameras have at 800, some have dual iso at 400 and 1200. Sony has 800, 12800.
But yes by shifting iso you are also shifting data distribution but no dynamic range. So you need preserve more highlight, lower iso, need more shadows ? Set iso a bit higher. This can be studied in camera datasheet, every manufacturer documents how it maps data at given iso value.
Check run time hours. Great Information.
Right on
@steelworksfilms @@carlosq00 whats the ideal runtime hours i should be aware of? or does it matter? im looking to buy used from lens rentals and the camera is currently at 925 hrs.
is that a DJI FPV Goggles Antenna that you have upgraded the Komodo with ?
Yes it is
First check ✅️ make sure that you are purchasing it from someone who owns it. Crackheads like to steal camera gear out of unsuspecting photographers cars 🚗, they will snatch it quick and resell it quick and cheap so they can get their fix, they might try to sell a very new fully functional Red camera worth thousands for just a couple hundred bucks because they don't know what it's worth and they never bought it in the first place.
If the person you are buying from doesn't know how to use the camera and can't explain any of its features that might be a red flag to avoid the purchase
Purchasing stolen items means that if the real owner finds out about it somehow you could be out BOTH your money 💰 AND The camera 📷 you thought you purchased legally.
A safe bet when purchasing anything over $1000 is to have the person meet at a police station or a bank 🏦 and have them provide a bill of sale, or notarize an attestation they own it and do affirm to sell it to you for X amount. The cost to use a public notary is cheap, consider it insurance against unlawful acquisition.
Great points
