It is good to mention that pressure washing vinyl siding is not recommended. Some folks do it but it can create tremendous problems. If you are pointing the wand up, it can easily blow water behind the vinyl. If the house is over 20 years old it likely will not have house wrap behind the vinyl which means the sheathing and possibly the insulation will get wet. It can take days or weeks for it to dry out and mold and mildew will grow inside the walls of your house and cause all kinds of respiratory problems for the homeowner.

Trying to get out of washing the house ehh? Mold and mildew grows inside grooves of the vinyl siding. Start from the top and work down. Point the nozzle down.

A pressure washer is perfectly safe for cars, but just try and stay at or below about 1800 psi and keep at least about 8 inches of distance from the paint. Also, ALMOST all drive-thru car washes use some form of high-pressure watering systems... food for thought in case you still don't believe my first statement.

You can wash a car with a pressure washer, just need to attach the right tip and keep the right amount of distance. All car detailers use pressures washing techniques and foam cannon's.

I was given a maximum PSI for cleaning the stone on my house, going as high as possible might clean faster, but it also risks damage. You can do most house cleaning with a PSI that is also safe for washing cars, no need to go super high.

Do you have to dilute the cleaner to the proper ratio before putting it into the Pressure Washer Soap reservoir?

    • @lowes
      @lowes  Місяць тому +1

This may depend on the cleaner, so we always recommend checking the cleaning product’s directions for use to be safe. The cleaner used for this video is Krud Kutter and states: Use in a bucket or pump up sprayer, mix 8-oz concentrate to 1 gallon of water. Thanks for your question!

    • @tpfarm3535

First of all, it was my first time using a pressure washer and I borrowed the washer. I have a 900 SQ ft deck and I was hand scrubbing it to restain it. My neighbor came over and said I could do it in a fraction of the time with his power washer. Intrigued, I went for it. I finished scrubbing by hand and he showed me how to use it and I proceeded to power wash my deck. He was correct, it was fast and it removed the old stain beautifully. My deck was back to original wood color and I was excited at restaining my deck so quickly. But as it dried and I started inspecting the wood, the pressure washer shredded the wood fibers and actually gouged out grooves in some spots. I spent the next 5 days sanding trying to bring the smooth wood back and filling in the deeply gouged areas with a resin wood putty. After watching this video I realized my mistake. He had the 0° tip on there for his brick home. Changing tips was never mentioned so I never questioned it.

I still use a pressure washer on my car since its PSI rating is lower than usual. I just keep my distance and use the nozzle with the widest angle as well as making sure not to keep it shooting at a specific spot for more than like 4 seconds. Whatever’s there that I can’t get I just end up getting later.

  • @AussiePom

I don't use the lance nozzle for pressure cleaning the exterior of my house. I use the flat surface cleaning attachment for it does a far better job and does it quicker too because you get even pressure over the entire surface.
You can only damage your car if you hold the lance too close to the paintwork and if you use the wrong nozzle like a turbo nozzle which is so strong it will peel the paint off your car. I use a wide spray nozzle and have never had any problems.
The trouble with a pressure washer is that they're not suited all surfaces because to use them effectively you have to get the nozzle very close to surface of what you're cleaning as that's how a pressure washer works. The further away you go from a surface then the less effective the cleaning becomes.

You can pressure wash a car. I use the electric model. It's only 1700 psi compared to a gas 2300+ psi model. I also use a green (15°) nozzle designed for gas. It cuts the pressure way back. This is a similar setup mobile car wash guys use on power inverters or portable generators.

There are so many things you said in this video that are incorrect
The psi is not the most important thing for a pressure washer gpm is
Pressure washer can be used to clean vehicles safely when using the proper tips you can regulate the pressure(not using the standard tips that come with the pressure washer)
You should never use any kind of pressure to clean the house you should allow your chemicals do the work
