    Dirlewanger commanded a machinegun company in WO1. Maybe what he saw distorted his mind so much he no longer knew what violence meant. He was no coward, awarded the Nahkampfspange in Silver. A monster indeed but he seemned quite popular amongst his men. There must be a special place in hell for him no doubt.

    There is dreadful story of Belgian German - 18 year old who volunteered to SS and ended up as a pioneer in occupied Warsaw in August 1944. His unit was supporting Dirlewanger's master race killers by blowing up walls or barricades to let them finish "the job". Miraculously this Belgian guy was found seriously wounded by a Polish farmer in Pomerania in March 1945 and taken into shelter. His Polish hosts were not aware of his war "achievements".
    He survived and went to Belgian ambassy two years later and came back home. He survived, but he witnessed of Dirlewanger slaughter in Warsaw like the fate of children in kind of orphanage.
    I'm not sure he still thought of Germans as Kulturvolk. But he went back to Poland to thank his saviours.

      Never seen IDF be mean or cruel. Now the sons of a man who hooked up with a married woman, used her money to convince people he was someone important. Since then they have brought violence and destruction to everywhere they go. Their sworn oath includes the removal of Christians and more specifically those who follow Judaism. People think the idf is bad for shooting kids. Those kids are dressed in explosive vests and are told to run up to a group of idf. The handler then detonate the vest. Same groups have dug tunnels going kilometers long into Israel. With plumbing, air, and huge weapons caches. They complain of hospitals being bombed. Hospitals are ALL used to hide criminals and weapons. I can't blame them. Every time they have tried to actually fight like soldiers, they have never won. BTW. I am born and raised in latin America. Served in military there. Then with PMC in mid east. I feel horrible for the decent followers Allah. Note, almost all education and free medical care provided to these persons, is paid for and provided by Israel

    We hear a lot of this sort of thing about WW2. We don't hear about it when it was the Allies doing it though. Grapes, including against civilians as a deliberate act of terrorism isn't new, and it happened a lot. It was very widespread among the Red Army, but the French had a Moroccan regiment that was notorious, and the American army had it's fair share of it as well. A lot of commanders looked the other way, justifying it by saying the enemy brought it on him/herself or just wanting to avoid consequences for the men doing it. The truth is that war is war. We like to pretend that it has rules. It doesn't. War is what happens when the rules fail and we should stop pretending otherwise. Yes, there are degrees of depravity, so this isn't a bothsidesism argument, so much as it is an argument that war is not glorious. It is vicious, feral, and cruel. We ask our young men to enter that arena and do brutish things - so we have an obligation to understand what the consequences of that are. We can't just hide back here on the homefront and pretend this is a storybook fantasy or feign surprise when me break and do immoral things with callous inhumanity. That's what war is.

    It would have taken the Nazis another few decades to catch up with the British empire. At least 60 million Indians killed by the Raj, perhaps more than 100 million. At least 2 million perhaps up to 4 million Bengalis killed after Churchill took their rice crop in 1943 meaning it’s possible Britain killed more civilians than Germany. At least 1 million Irish starved after PM Pitt exported their food to Britain. Every single Tasmanian wiped out. Tens of thousands of Mao Mao killed in Kenya.

    • @rjthompson1108
      @rjthompson1108 27 днів тому +15

      Oh no! Another person who doesn't know the subject they're talking about!
      The Bengali famine wasn't the British Empires fault. In fact, due to supply lines and the general logistical issues caused by war, the Bengali famine began. Food was taken from the area - just like every single other area of the empire at that time, to support troops on the front lines of the war. Once this was brought to Churchill's desk he actually redirected supplies back to Bengali to eleviate the famine, even taking supplies from both the UK, the Front lines and from larger export areas within the Empire. In fact, it's believed that Churchill was given inaccurate information which led him to believe that everything was above board. It was once he was given corrected information he began the efforts to redirect supplies.
      "On 4 August 1943, when the War Cabinet chaired by Churchill first realised the enormity of the famine, it agreed that 150,000 tons of Iraqi barley & Australian wheat should be sent to Bengal, with Churchill himself insisting on 24 September that “something must be done.” Though emphatic “that Indians are not the only people who are starving in this war,” he agreed to send a further 250,000 tons, to be shipped over the next four months."
      Why do idiots keep trying to rewrite history?
      edit:
      Also adding even more quotes regarding Churchill's efforts to help.
      "On 7 October, Churchill told the War Cabinet that one of the new viceroy’s first duties was to see to it “that famine and food difficulties were dealt with.” He wrote to Wavell the next day: “Every effort must be made, even by the diversion of shipping urgently needed for war purposes, to deal with local shortages.” By January 1944, Bengal had received a total of 130,000 tons of barley from Iraq, 80,000 tons of wheat from Australia and 10,000 from Canada, followed by a further 100,000 from Australia. Then, on 14 February 1944, Churchill called an emergency meeting of the War Cabinet to see if more food aid could be sent to Bengal without wrecking Allied plans for the coming Normandy landings.
      On 24 April 1944, the Cabinet minutes recorded: “the Prime Minister said that it was clear that His Majesty’s Government could only provide further relief for the Indian situation at the cost of incurring grave difficulties in other directions. At the same time, his sympathy was great for the sufferings of the people of India.” These were not empty words. A few days later, Churchill asked US President Roosevelt for shipping to supply Bengal, saying he was “seriously concerned” about the famine, that Wavell still needed a million extra tons of grain, that the wheat was available in Australia, but without ships to transport it. The request was refused by the US Administration on the grounds that it needed all its shipping to supply the Pacific theatre and the impending D Day landings."

The fact that he tried to fix it after 2 milion ppl starved and failed doesn't absolve them of crime. Even the food relief from everywhere but uk (yes food was sent from canada, australia and africa, not a single grain of anything from Britain) ended up hoarded by British colonialists who profiteered from it by keeping the food too expensive for most locals causing further 1 milion casualties.
