As an American, I can understand why so many around the world hate us. 2 of my uncles served in the U.S. army during the Iraq war. At different times, both of those uncles preyed upon me as a child. For whatever reason, the military seems to attract some of the worst people our country has to offer. I’m ashamed we send so many evil bastards to terrorize the world. I will never be proud of our military or thank them for their “service”. The U.S. military does not fight for our freedom, it terrorizes humanity to exploit their resources and to make the wealthy weapons manufacturers wealthier.
I know someone that was a citizen and victim during she was a teenager at the time. She claims she and others were raped and she saw her friends lose limbs or even lose their lives. She has major PTSD.

I knew about the reality as a child when it was happening. I'm an Australian who's read about the Sri Lankan Civil War after finding out about the conflict when it was mentioned in articles about the 2019 Church bombing. It was one of the most unusual wars of the 20th century with it's combination of Guerrilla Warfare, Conventional Warfare, Riots, Suicide Bombings along with both sides having a bizarre and complex relationship with India. Shame that it hasn't gotten the attention it deserved. The American military is no better than the Supreme Court. While humiliation, murder and rape have always been a major problem the scale of these problems are getting worse and worse. Just when someone is tried, convicted and punished along comes Trump who tells those men and the entire military he's proud of the rape, murder, pillage and plunder they did. A lot of Iraqi people were jubilant when they saw the American military coming to free them from the taliban. They soon learned of the deadly mistake they made for holding out hope and affording them any respect. There's nothing to respect concerning the military now days. My heart goes out to those men and women who do the right thing. These bad actors gives the entire military a black eye. Including the Commander in Chief.

What I learned about this channel, is no matter the timeline when the war erupted. Americans would always condemn and prosecute everyone of their war crimes, but would justify their own despite not being so different from the countries they criticize for it.

I'm an Australian who's read about the Sri Lankan Civil War after finding out about the conflict when it was mentioned in articles about the 2019 Church bombing. It was one of the most unusual wars of the 20th century with it's combination of Guerrilla Warfare, Conventional Warfare, Riots, Suicide Bombings along with both sides having a bizarre and complex relationship with India. Shame that it hasn't gotten the attention it deserved. The LTTE's Prabhakaran is such a "character", one thing that fascinates me about him was how when he had declared war on the government he had no military background and started off as a little more than a street wise kid with a large circle of friends that decided to knock off a mayor and random police officers before his band of 40 men became a professional army of tens of thousands and de facto state. He had weird episodes in his life, such as him having a nervous breakdown and temporarily quitting the movement he founded to join a copycat organisation, and having a fall out with one of his friends over the latter not complying with the LTTE's code of chastity which culminated in the two men getting into a gunfight outside of a movie Indian theater when they were illegally present in the country hiding from the Sri Lankan state (resulting in them getting severely beaten by a panicked angry mobs of random bystanders, before getting arrested).
Military and police have a similar outlook on accountability.
