Pally a few tips for playing Ming orb build: 1. You want to be firing off your orbs from much further away. You were doing good and getting a ton of damage when you did, but you kept moving in closer to chase down kills which resulted in not only you dealing less damage with your orb but also not triggering the CD reduction from the level 4 talent. You want to only be firing off orbs at enemies when they are in the circle part of the spell diagram. 2. As previously mentioned, when you are at max range and landing your orbs, the CD is reduced to 2 seconds. (One second after level 7!) I noticed that during your match you kept spacing out your orbs like you were expecting the CD to be longer than it was. you want to be rapid firing these orbs as fast as you possibly can. You’ll be able to shred even a full stack Diablo in under 10 seconds if you are firing these off every other second. 3. Always be the farthest back player in your team in team fights. You kept moving up to chase down kills, which often got you killed. As orb build Ming you want to leave the chasing to your teammates. Ming has one of the lowest health pools in the entire game (excluding murky and TLV), which means. Most characters in the game will have the ability to turn on you during a chase and kill you before you can kill them. (This is especially true if your not great at landing her Q at close range.) If you deal 50% or more of an enemies healthpool in damage your job is done, leave it to your teammates to chase them down and finish them. 4. Never facecheck bushes. Ming’s Q has a insanely low CD, use this to scout literally every bush you come across before you enter it. (And I do mean EVERY bush.) As stated before, most characters in the game will be able to kill you in a duel at close range, surprise attacking from bushes is the best way to get close to Ming. 5. If your having a hard time staying alive with Ming, try taking the teleport talent at 13 instead of glass cannon. It will increase the range of your teleport and instantly refresh the CD of it if you take too much damage at once. Get used to the position of Ming and landing her skill shots before you take high risk high reward talents like glass cannon. You’ll have a much better experience with her as you learn her, trust me. Hope this helps you or anyone else who wants to play Ming! I do hope you will continue playing Ming and trying these tips because li Ming is an insanely fun and rewarding character to play once you figure her out, much like KT. As always, thanks for the content pally! Hope your matches get better!
I was thinking about all of these points during the video. Even still sometimes like point 5 I will take the teleport talent just because I need a bit more self peel against the enemy comp. If you can master the in and out of throwing the orbs from an off angle for max cd reduction and damage it hurts. Personally I only run tal rasha’s elements when I feel like I have no reason to pick the others and use it as a small buff to the w, rather than endanger myself by trying to use the other spells for more spell power as wave of force and teleport are your escapes
Best tip would be to not play orb ming. Calamity is the only build you should go for so that you can be actually useful to your team and do meaningful damage.
@@TDG10Robbery7 I'm sorry my friend. But clearly this isn't the case. Orb can put out immense amounts of damage + at a safe distance. You just need to play differently. I main orb ming, and I've no problem with keeping up with dps, or even getting top dps often.
@@TDG10Robbery7 Calamity Build is really good, probably her best build for playing her competitively, but I also think orb build is pretty good too. Especially in lower ranks and QM. It does start to lose power when you get to higher ranks because more players will be better at dodging and know how to counter her. (That is by always having someone flank behind and jump on her so she can't just sit on the backline spamming damage from a safe distance.) The problem with calamity build is it's a really high skill cap build and takes ALOT of practice to do it well. For someone like pally who doesn't play a lot of li ming and doesn't have a great feel for the character it'd be pretty much a guaranteed bad time if he just jumped straight into trying to learn calamity build. Hell, I've put a ton of games into Ming and she is one of my mage mains, yet I'm still struggling to fully master calamity build.
bloodlust vs a diablo and junkrat must be the biggest big brain(DED) move there is. but then, there are Ana's who give their stim to AA characters like raynor so maybe not as that big?
Well tbh muradin and Stiches AA a lot and the movement speed against that team was nice as well. So instead of just healing one man he healed the whole team. So it's not that bad.

Sadly, I think it's a population-issue and that the matchmaker struggles to find the correct balance. I see it when I seldom play QM too, you either stomp or get stomped.
As someone who really likes Li-Ming, here's what happened to E build: they nerfed domination, which was really important for survival. It's still doable but much riskier. Orb build gives tons of free constant damage, as long as you can land your shots, making it easier to reset. Edit: also fun fact about her sieging capabilities, they were so good in fact that her Q does 50% damage to structures to prevent Li-Ming from just destroying everything from out of tower range, and even then they're really good. Edit 2: at level 20, depending on the map, Archon can be incredibly powerful. I know it's a bit of a meme, but it's better than a lot of people realize. It gives you amazing clear and ridiculous siege damage at crazy ranges. On this map, Archon could have done wonders imo.
Taking the other ultimate lets you clear an entire wave if you catch it early, when the minions are still in a line, plus it's on such a low CD that you can add it straight into you rotation. It's great for taking out low health enemies after an orb, and can increase resets.
Li Ming is a snowball character. When things are rolling, you feel unstoppable. When you struggle, it can be miserable. (I feel like calamity builds let you have some more control )
I like to play LiMing a fair amount myself, though I tend to piss off a lot of Quick Match players as I tend to prefer MM Build. (Not claiming to be a fantastic player, but from my experience, the following.) That being said, you should use your MM more often, especially when trying to take camps. Also, on a map like this (Any focused on Monster Damage) you want to consider using MM build specifically for both Camps and the Obj. (The one with the Angel and Demon fighting is a PERFECT example for MM Build) As for Orb Build, that's just generally good, though you want to position yourself to the sides, and from further back. Also when using Orbs and MM, you want to dance back and forth a lot more. Teleport Build is best when you absolutely need to be mobile. For example, I like it when dealing with Butcher, Garrosh, Stitches, and Tracer. Always look for people you likely would be able to get a kill on. Otherwise, look at suggestions from other people.
Li-Ming’s orb build is still memed on. As far as I’m aware, q build with calamity and WoF is still the best way to play her, especially at high levels. Orb build is more popular at low ranks as people just run into your orbs. Kinda the KT effect with living bomb.
34-7-1 now following your builds. I say your build but this is the build I've been using on Li Ming since I got her. I've had a lot of time to get used to her skillshots and have gotten pretty good at working around targets. I'll say this though taking glass cannon vs a triple tap nova and valla can be pretty scary.
From my personal experience, most people play orb built now cause seems like the easiest and safest way to play li ming. Although in high level and competitive or for player's who really master the hero I've seen more calamity focus builts. I believe that's also the reason why the winrate is low, most people don't really know what to do on her besides shooting orbs and when someone dives on them they are pretty much dead.
Li-Ming is my highest level char, I love her playstyle even if I'm not really good with her. Usually the problems start when my team wants to fight inside a minion wave (most of my damage is blocked) or if the enemy has a Samuro, Zagara, Azmodan, Anub'arak, Nazeebo, Brightwing or maybe a Nova. So... yeah :)
Those little minions can kinda be used to get orb hits on enemies. It takes a bit of planning, but if you aim for a minion close to the enemy, it's aoe can still hit the enemy even when they move. Well i mean, sometimes
HOTS had a resurgence for a while over the last two years but its finally taking its last gasp. Over 10 mins to find a game in quickmatch. Takes me that long to find a ranked game now too.
First game as li-ming I had all mages in my group vs a valeera, tracer, valla, falstad and artanis, we got mage stomped! Rexxar was our bruiser couldn’t remember the other mages.
Funny thing is orbs builds still a low elo build that unskilled players pick and fail at, while E build still is THE way to go for actual skilled players, that pretty much tell you why of her stats.
I havent played Hots in a good while but i remeber hearing that Orb build, while it can do tons of damage, lacks any sort of execute. Which is what calamity gives it. Li Ming feels a bit like old falstad. before falstads recent rework Lv7 was exclusively boomarang. for li ming her lv7 is exclusively Calamity.
Nice video Pally, but I always play E build with ming. Its Insanely good when you get used to it. I would like to see a video of you playing it. Keep up the good work!
You need to try her damage teleport with the range extension at 13 and shields at 16. Zipping around in a battle, getting a TP by damage spikes, going full body contact with TP just feels like slamming into the enemy team, ITS SO MUCH FUN. Ather walk at 1 is poop, only marginally more mobility out of combat, and that's not what Li Ming is about, so it's spell power at 1, kills give HP at 3, dmg tp at 7, push back at 10, range + dmg resets TP at 13, shields at 16 and ARCHON LETS GO AT 20 ((i am not kidding)). this is the build ive been playing for like 2 years, i play QM only, and Ming with this build is why i'm still playing. please please please try it, wave of force synergizes so well with TP, you can just absolutely dominate a game this way, always repositioning, punishing overextends and so much more
You should definitely have gone for the teleport build considering you got literally the only map where Li Ming is really bad. Every other map you can go whatever you like imo, but on Infernal Shrines it's pointless to go skillshots on her. Also, teleport build brings in considerable damage with which you could've secured several kills. When the entire enemy team is low just move in next to them and they're gone. It's much harder to juke Calamity than large pink skillshots.
Im not a Li Ming guy and this hurt my eyes.. not comboing her w and q.. Somehow losing duels to hammer when she was alone. It was people playing her like this, cause shes easy for noobs to pickup but hard to master is why her win rate was lower than it should. Good players destroy with her. Bad players who do win are only annoying.
I know what you mean about not wanting to learn Li Ming. There was a period where I forced myself to play her but it's only because I wanted to be cool, ya know, gettin' combos, and I think she's pretty lol
Against Hammer and Diablo, I think Seeker at 7 would've been very good here (or Calamity to finish off people) . Just fat stationary targets like Hammer and big hit box like Diablo. Plus Seeker works on buildings AND the Punisher so you can burn down a post objective or siege really well Edit: god damn inting Orphea and a Rehgar who can't seem to press W.
I havnt played in a few years but I loved to do w build and chuck out orbs at long range cus I was safe and they actually had a lot of damage back in the day if you built them right but you lacked the damage in other areas
Considering the vid + the fact that i know some main Li Ming players, i think you really play her well ! But i understand that you just dont "feel" this char at all and i get it, it's the same for me. Some chars are meant for us, some don't.
Really needed the other Ult to tickle down heroes after you got a nice bomb on them. Wave of force is great for every other build but not the artillery orb build.
When your looking up the most popular builds, does it separate quick match and ARAM? if it doesn't i wonder if that maybe why Li Ming orb build is so popular.
my video stopped to buffer around 17:04 and i noticed something strange... i saw orphea biting the diablo fire... who does she think she is? natsu dragneel?
I always find Stitches to be great vs Hammer as she is a sitting duck. Hook and blow her up. Didn't see that once this game though, might have missed it.
really shouldnt sleep on the Q build. fire flies plus seeker does ridiculous damage to seige camps every 2 seconds and shreds towers. absolutely destroys sgt hammer and every enemy hero that is stunned for half a second or slowed by 50% takes 1000+ damage guaranteed (once you practice). wouldnt do this in pubs obviously, but its useful in a team. (disintegrate is better for this build, but only if you wait to use it on enemies running away)
thank you pally for reminding me not to play this game again. Was getting tempted watching your A-Z but the long ques, shit match making, and griefers quickly curbed that desire.
early game I think pally is kind of missing the point of this orb build, he's commenting on stuff like, hits, 6-7 second cooldowns, oof, and then I see him point blank the arcane orb and I'm like... OOF... When I play li-ming (a character I never expected to like) my positioning priority is to always, always, always hit the orb at >50% range to reset it's cooldown. If you can be consistant about that the damage output is completely bonkers, you win any standoff just so long as you don't miss and are not forced into point blank range. (edit) I also like going with archon at level 20 because it gives you incredible pve, and if you ever see an undefended building (camera zoom to bottom lane) you can just sort of destroy it if you want to.
being weak with skill shots and trying to play (or spending cycles remembering NOT to try to play) as fight openers really hurts pali when he plays fight finishers and/or skill shot based characters. which Li Ming is both. She gets resets off of kills, therefor let someone else do the first 40% of someone's health. Or focus on low hp characters you can easily delete. But burning 15 seconds d*cking around with a full hp diablo is 15 seconds you weren't doing anything useful. And yes, I realize this also is a penalty of quickmatch where people are, on the whole, timid. Pali often earns wins by being The Guy who gets on the point, leads the attack, and otherwise is the first to move forward. That's not Li Ming.
Yikes, matchmaking has been rough it seems lol... Ming is very situational in regular games, bit she's an absolute monstrosity in ARAM. Highest winrate hero there I believe.
Pally. Dude. I've been playing ARAM just because it's lolz and you can actually have fun 50% of the time, and I tried to play a QM match today and 5 matches in a row, leavers, toxicity, people refusing to play their characters. What is wrong with people in HOTS, and how many takes do you think you've had ruined by utter BS?
Not taking Calamity hurts my soul. I go orb build as well, but with extra TP range and Calamity, you get the best of two worlds, a bit less orb damage, only 1-sec cd on your orb instead of 0, but u get a much better tp, with range and damage, making the LVL 20 you took gain TREMENDOUS value. Also, my lvl1 is Astral Walker, cuz of the memes and cuz I'm too lazy to remember picking orbs.
this MOBA has really good maps and characters... the combat is a little outdated and no voice line system like in SMITE. but still good. also, yea no ranked scene or ranked leaderboard with rewards..
It doesn't seem like Li Ming is your problem. It's a team based game and your team was not good. You play was fine, the character is fine, and you showed that with your stats at the end. You shouldn't take loses in a team based game to heart and blame your play of the character. That makes no sense.
Heroes is trash now because of the lack of skilled players. Its like they all left in a mass exodus because they were pissed with blizzard/activision or something...
I'm here for Pally's Li-Ming play, but real talk: I'm waiting for THE Lost Vikings. Too bad I have to wait until after THE Butcher.
We're all just waiting for The Murky.
The Butcher is my favourite character in the game. *Violence is the only answer.*

When your looking up the most popular builds, does it separate quick match and ARAM? if it doesn't i wonder if that maybe why Li Ming orb build is so popular.
That Rehgar fucked up with it's ult.
my video stopped to buffer around 17:04 and i noticed something strange... i saw orphea biting the diablo fire... who does she think she is? natsu dragneel?
Thanks for putting yourself through all this for our entertainment. I hope Holly and her family are doing well.
That was sure... something.
I always find Stitches to be great vs Hammer as she is a sitting duck. Hook and blow her up. Didn't see that once this game though, might have missed it.
ana has the most difficult skillshots in the game
I love Li Ming. Her burst is amazing and she's just so fun to play. I think the bad games just put a bad taste in your mouth for the char.
Getting top damage with Li Ming is pretty easy since she does a lot of meaningless damage for the most part
that bloodlust Rehgar though.
Spoilers below:

Loses: Ana; Artanis; Auriel; Brightwing; Chen; Chromie; Falstad; Hanzo; Jaina; Li-Ming
really shouldnt sleep on the Q build.
fire flies plus seeker does ridiculous damage to seige camps every 2 seconds and shreds towers. absolutely destroys sgt hammer and every enemy hero that is stunned for half a second or slowed by 50% takes 1000+ damage guaranteed (once you practice).
wouldnt do this in pubs obviously, but its useful in a team. (disintegrate is better for this build, but only if you wait to use it on enemies running away)
Vikings, huh? I didnt realize we were already up to "T"
thank you pally for reminding me not to play this game again. Was getting tempted watching your A-Z but the long ques, shit match making, and griefers quickly curbed that desire.
Lt Morales is next dude.
Good job Pally!
early game I think pally is kind of missing the point of this orb build, he's commenting on stuff like, hits, 6-7 second cooldowns, oof, and then I see him point blank the arcane orb and I'm like...
HotS: Pondering the orb Edition
Wait, shouldn't The Lost Vikings come after The Butcher?
I think it's funny that this video just exists in the background of a random atrioc video, I guess he watches your content and got it recommended.
So why such a stickler for THE Butcher but not for THE Lost Vikings? Hmmmmm?
Wooooo this gone be good
Hmmm, so the much memed on orb build is now the most popular build and Li Ming's winrate is at an all time low.. :3
wait...next Lost Vikings? arent they THE lost vikings like THE butcher?
What was the old liming talent?
ess of johan
being weak with skill shots and trying to play (or spending cycles remembering NOT to try to play) as fight openers really hurts pali when he plays fight finishers and/or skill shot based characters. which Li Ming is both.
The next to last objective Pally should have done the wrong thing and join his team in the tf. Also that reghar was bad.
I love when Pally gets emotional... CAN ANYONE HELP ME DO ANYTHING!?!?!?!?#&*)!%&!#(_)* I love the commentary
THATS ALOTTA DAMAGE LUNARA
Yikes, matchmaking has been rough it seems lol... Ming is very situational in regular games, bit she's an absolute monstrosity in ARAM. Highest winrate hero there I believe.
NOICE!
Her other Ult is way better for all the ranged players they have.
That Orphea and Rehgar were just bad, lol.
Oh, Azula. Did Fire Lord Ozai not hug you enough?

Comment for engagement
Pally.
STOP ATTACKING DIABLO FFS
Oh my gosh Pally you're so toxic, screaming at your team for not helping you (I'm one hundred percent joking🤣🤣)
bring tim moree
this MOBA has really good maps and characters... the combat is a little outdated and no voice line system like in SMITE. but still good. also, yea no ranked scene or ranked leaderboard with rewards..
First
It doesn't seem like Li Ming is your problem. It's a team based game and your team was not good. You play was fine, the character is fine, and you showed that with your stats at the end. You shouldn't take loses in a team based game to heart and blame your play of the character. That makes no sense.
Bro , lvl 7 there is only one choice , calamity , any other talent is trash AF
Heroes is trash now because of the lack of skilled players. Its like they all left in a mass exodus because they were pissed with blizzard/activision or something...
