    You can't say Noah ran faster than Kishane because the wind speed behind them was different. Other factors have to be considered such as Noah was flat out while Kishane shut it down 30 meters or so from the finish. Furthermore, people don't normally nitpick about times when they the wind readings are below the legal limit. 9:77 pulling up is just faster than 9:81 going flat out regardless of the minor difference in wind speeds. Period.

    Didn't Julian Alfred run 10.9 at Hayward Field and then 10.78 at Jamaica the same week? While we're at it, Noah Lyles ran 9.83 at Hayward field and now 9.81 into a headwind at London? Not to mention Vernon Norwood, Quincy Hall, Wilson, running faster times outside of Hayward field

    • @Scanned
      @Scanned 2 місяці тому +2

      I feel like using Hayward against Syd doesn’t make sense because she previously ran 51.4 to break the WR outside of Eugene and she’s much stronger 3 years later. Mind you, Bol was a distance behind Syd at Hayward in 2022. No telling what the times will be, but Syd is still the clear favorite. Bol could win though. I’m not sure a near altitude 50.90 and a 51.3 changes my mind on that. All we can hope for is a thunderous race.

    I'm predicting two gold medals for Noah Lyles this time. In the 200 M I've only seen him beaten once, and that was by Michael Norman a couple years ago. Probably would not happen again. There have always been upstarts who, on paper, were suppose to maybe beat him, like Knighton and now this kid Wilson, but, then, that's why they run the races! The 100 M is not his race because of his consistently bad start (why can't he fix that thing?), but his will to win is ferocious and I expect it to drive him to victory again!

      If Kishane Thompson can perform on the world stage he has legitimately faster times. He improved from 9.82 down to 9.77 in a few days at the Jamaican champs. Lyles has come down from 9.84 (from memory) to 9.81 over the last few years. I wouldn't bet on Lyles winning. There's also that element of uncertainty in the Olympics, people come out of nowhere or improve their season's best to pull off upsets, it's one reason it's so much fun to watch.

    • @danbotez1307
      @danbotez1307 2 місяці тому +1

      Lyles was beaten this year by Oblique Seville (9.82 vs. 9.85) who in turn was beaten by Kishane Thompson (9.77 vs. 9.82). In the latter race, Kishane slowed down after 70 m.
      Kishane is the odds on favorite to win the 100 m in Paris.

    Everyone hates Lyles, because he won't stop talking 🤣. I don't hate him but I do think he's over-rated. He comes across not only as narcissist but as if he has a development disorder. I can't recall any sportsperson spilling their pillow talk or suggesting their country should put them in a relay team ahead of the national champ at that distance. That's next level weird.

      @@JumpmanTF I think we're all mesmerized by his self-promotion rather than his actual times and results. He's brought his PB down from 9.83 to 9.81 over the course of a year. Compare him to just about any of the up and coming young sprinters, they've all run more impressive times e.g. Kishane Thompson went from 9.85 last year to 9.77 this year. At 27 Lyles should be peaking, I don't think he can run any faster. Just about every American sprinter over the past few decades has run faster than him. The only one who hasn't is Ronnie Baker and he's at 9.83.

      He said specifically the results from London were shown in order of position on the all-time list. Keely's was 5th fastest ever, Bol's was the second fastest (more accurately: four women have run the 800m faster, and other than Bol herself, only McLaughlin has run the 400h faster).

    I think he's great.
    I truly am shocked to hear that everyone doesn't love him - or are you just being silly?
    I heard my dad moan about him, but he just doesn't like successful US athletes (apart from Michael Johnson), for some reason!
