Thanks for watching guys! What are your thoughts on the strat middle pickup? 🎸🎵
FWIW, Clapton's guitar tech stated that Eric rarely uses anything but the middle pickup during a show. This is from a fairly recent Premier Guitar rig rundown.
Very true, a great reference for this sort of thing! I’ve also watched that rig rubdown! Very interesting 👌🏻. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Nice! Love the middle pup, for me the best position is 4 (neck / mid). And after a few years of installing pickups tone chasing for the perfect 4 sound, trying every brand/model I could buy / try, for me nothing beats Dimarzio Area 58s in the neck and a reverse wound / reverse polarity Area 67 in the mid. Quiet too. The 58 is also my "best" neck pup. A slightly modern (cleaner, better definition) version of a good SRV, Hendrix, and even Mayer Continuum sound and the TS9 pushing it (keeley mod) sounds magically SRV but dare I say, better (not my skill, the tone). I should point out my sound tests were done on a Vox ac15ch, Celestion blue cab. The pups complimented that Vox chime.
That’s awesome, what’s great is that you had some really good tones to reference when looking for the right pickup! Definitely helps when you know what you’re chasing! I use the House of Tone 1960 pickups in my strat, they’re the best strat pickups I’ve tried - very vintage inspired, voiced after a set of original 1960 strat pickups in terms of winds, materials etc! Nice choice of amp too with the vox! The chime sounds amazing with out of phase single coils - one of my favourite tones! 👌🏻🎸🎵. Thanks for watching man, and thanks for the thoughtful comment!
Sounding a lot like Albert King there, and he played a Flying V!
Thanks man, I’m a huge Albert King fan! 👌🏻
As someone with a $150 amp, I can’t hear the difference
Definitely a lot of pieces to the ‘tone’ puzzle. Could be a number of things from the pickups in the guitar, the pedals you use, the amp! But it’s just something to consider 🤘🏻
