- Here is an improvisation that features four of my favorite FA-06/FA-08 presets and demonstrates the powerful sound shaping capabilities using just the Sound Modify knobs.
The Roland fa workstations are seriously underrated, I have the fa 06 and I’m never going to get rid of it, the last 2 minutes were incredible

Woody Piano Shack Ohh That's lovely. I must then plan a trip to Sweden :) Deep forest is a French band with music in the genre of world music. Some call it ambient music. Their track "sweet lullaby" from the album world mix in the 90's has also won a grammy. Wish you could play that in synth in one of your videos. Take care. Bye

i sold alot of workstations and keyboards. But this FA-08 is a board to keep for a long time. i sold a fantom x 3x. Motif es 4x. Fantom g, krome 88, M3 73, motif xs twice, moxf, triton extreme, junos, and alot more. This FA-08 is complete. Don't compare to a kronos or montage because those are twice the price. ✌🏿️

Was looking to get this keyboard for my own ambient pieces. Does this have sounds which have little to no wave forms to the sound file? Or where the wave form can be lowered? I'm looking for a clean sound [or more so,...several different clean sounds], and hoping this keyboard can give me that.

I`m so torn, having sold countless synths and modules over the years and having nothing for quite a few more I`m really wanting to get back into music. Just cannot decide for the life of me between a controller like the nektar p6 and say omnisphere 2 and bitwig or go hardware again and start with the FA-06/08. Been agonising over it for weeks lol. Anyway, keep up the good work Woody, it`s great!! :-)
+NoVA SioX yeah, that's a tough call, I agree. but for immediate availability and creativity it's hard to beat a workstation synth. :)
Yes you`re right, no interface or daw to get in the way and i could always add that at a later date. A good point well made, thank you :-)
Was going to buy one but when you record your song to daw, samples are not there and no workaround unless you export samples and then edit in daw. While sampling, no playback for other samples. Knob movement is also not recorded. Great sequencer but the sample issue was a no for me. Going MoDx and a tablet for DAW
Woody, sometimes on the fa series you switched between some more orange cabels and these blue ish ones which I guess you plugged into your audiophile 2496 or one of your portable recording devices? is there any difference in audio-quality on the soundcard and recordes and maybe also by the different cabels? looking to buy that soundcard and the best cabels. also it seems like these are normal guitar jack plugs you used, do they fit with the audiophile 2496 soundcard?

+softarno they are identical apart from size/weight, 61 synth keys or 88 weighted piano keys. exactly the same sounds and features!

Hey Woody. Nice to meeto a great videos... I,ve owned a lot of key from Yamaha, Korg to Roland. My budget is around USD 1500 and Im looking into a Korg Krome or FA08. Have to decide... Your suggestion will be much appreciated.. Thanks again

Between this and the yamaha modx8, which one do you think is better?
i think the modx is better unless you want that roland sound, FA is quite a lot older than modx now, perhaps due for a refresh!

I have both they are good in there on way /krome ex is more faster getting around / FA have more sounds

Woody, what amp system would you recomend to compliment the FA
home use or gigging? i did a review of some logitech speakers for home use.
it will be for home use Woody, I'm running it through my Tyros 2 (Midi ) at the moment.

Thanks for this review. Here a son of the eighties after enjoying your FA88 DX7 E-Piano video :-) I am considering buying it as I think it is quite versatile and I need a weighted keyboard. My previous keyboards an old Yamaha PSR and a Roland D-50. The latter I love.

What did you think of the keybed on the FA?
I've played on one a couple of times and I love the keybed. Some might say it is too heavy, but it emulates an acoustic grand / upright really well.

I have since bought the keyboard, and I really enjoy it. Especially the keybed. It is very much like a grand piano, and has great touch sensitivity. If that's what you're looking for, go for it!
I personally have little experience with synth work, though I do really like the synth sounds it has.

Does the FA 08 have internal speakers?

Of course not, its a workstation, not a keyboard
Sounds lovely but these days you can just whack a few chords down on a synth and get these magical layers all beeping away and arpeggiating...I prefer to 'make' the notes myself rather than have the machine do it for me.
Also I find I can waste hours noodling away on pads like this and really not produce anything of worth. Or certainly nothing usable in a 'song' of any description. (if i happened to be writing for a space documentary with Brian Cox, maybe, but that's unlikely!). So I started to dedicate that time to my piano chops, learning Bach and doing some technique/sight-reading.
well said, i agree. don't completely disregard the mystical pad presets though. They can be inspiring for players of all abilities and they sell more synths! Composing all the parts yourself is awesome, but you might end up spending more time recording and editing than actually playing... Instant gratification factor is nice. :)
