Red rising is super complex, and you’re totally right. He does not do any world building. He just tosses you in. The next two are absolutely amazing and I think you’ll like it more. Don’t wait too long. I had many months between book one and two and regretted that because I forgot so much!
He does do world building, he just doesn't hold your hand and explain it to you like a lot of books do now. He throws you in and follows the 'show dont tell' rule and you learn and figure things out and put things together as you go along. If there was no world building then there would be nothing for you to figure out, he built a rich, complex society with multiple cultures and an extremely long and detailed history...thats world building. There are just no info dumps that explain everything. Some people prefer that, other readers prefer some degree of explaining/info dumping it just depends on what your preference is. I would say that if you're newer to sci-fi/fantasy (especially epic fantasy) then this would be a difficult book to get started with because of the complex worldbuilding and lack of explanation. It's not very beginner friendly, or if you're someone who prefers a little or a lot of info dumping or explanation then this book series isn't for you. Figuring out what your preference is will help you decide on what books to read in the future. I'm used to reading a lot of fantasy so I didn't find this book confusing or difficult to get into and really enjoyed it. But I can definitely see why some people have a problem with it, I do think its worth it though if you just keep on with it, you do start to pick things up and figure things out and its worth it in the end because its a great series.
I think it's the most healthy way to do it. When people do the straight 24 hrs, I feel it's like someone saying "Let me do "X" task without drinking water for 24 hrs and see how long I can do it without feeling bad or sick." 🤦🏽♀️
The teacher was the first book I gave a 2 stars I wanted a thriller not a whole book of forbidden romance, I was disappointed but I’ll keep reading her

Loooved this vlog! 🌞 such a good idea to time it until you reach 24 hours instead of doing one full day
I want to do a full day but I literally can not😂🫠😂🫶🏼

I rated and felt the exact same about Red Rising!
Omg I so agree with you on Red Rising. On the whole loved the plot but WAY too much happened on each page 😂
My brain was legit scrambled 😂
You should try the last Mrs. Parrish! the housemaid was based off of that book. The sequel to that book was so good too!
I've now seen 2 people do this and it makes me want to try it again...

Honestly that’s totally valid!! I’ve noticed that some of her books aren’t quite as thrilling as much as they are just unhinged I guess😅😂
I gave it 2 stars because I felt bad giving a 1 star rating.
@@NadiasBookNook and now that you say that I feel like deep down inside that’s exactly why I gave it 2 stars as well I just couldn’t
Great vlog 📚🥤
I love the Red Rising saga! You're only on Mars for the first book. The rest of the books will take you throughout the solar system.
I’m with you about red rising, I feel like I’m too stupid to read it and felt discouraged 😢
i could not survive reading 24hrs straight, i love this method!
I would literally 💀💀😂
Love your snails!!!!!
