- Do Metalheads really believe in the devil? I'm curious what you think about this. For decades society has tried to censor and ban metal music for its association with the occult and satanism. The question is, does playing tritone intervals and wearing corpse paint make you a devil worshiper? Or is it just a marketing ploy to sell records? In this video I'll review the top 5 most EVIL songs ever recorded. We'll also take a look at the music theory behind what makes these songs wicked!

I remember the days when I'd go to work and grab my check on pay day and cash it at the bank and then go straight to Cats Music store and buy a new album from any metal band I hadn't heard of yet. This turned me on to so many bands back then. Gojira, Municipal Waste, Iced Earth, As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom, and countless more. I miss music stores
I like all of these bands except Iced Earth, I can't stand the vocals. At least what I've heard, but they're my brothers favorite band.
I do not go to music stores, there simply are almost none, but I bought... idk, I think 6 or 7 new LPs and they cost me an arm and a leg but I always love to support musicians and also have a nice physical product, especially with banging artworks.
I used to do the same but with Hastings bookstore and a old record store in the old market in omaha

@@mobiljobe if he was the singer they called ripper, then yes. I'm not sure either way, as it's been probably 20 or so years since I've listened to them. From what I can remember my brother told me his name was Terry "Ripper" Owens. I may be remembering wrong though.

Should check out Cradle of Filth. Super dark lyrical themes, and brutal heaviness with the added dark spice of symphonic elements and other musical textures. Her Ghost in the Fog (from Midian), Lord Abortion , Funeral in Carpathia (from Dusk and Her Embrace), and Beneath the Howling Stars (from Cruelty and the Beast) are all brilliant starting points.
I'm 60. Been a metalhead for nearly half a century. Never worshipped the devil. It's always been about the music. Dunno about any particular scales or arpeggios or tri-tones but Dimmu's Vredesbyrd has always sounded pretty evil to me.
First! Also, as a metal guitarist myself, I do believe that higher powers do exist (like Satan) but I don't worship him.

Even most satanists don't believe in satan. There were people in the second wave of black metal that may have believed in a literal devil, (I've heard the original lineup of Gorgoroth apparently did,) but for most bands, it's just a gimmick.
I always thought it was a hell of a coincidence that the first distinctly "heavy metal" song is one of the best, and most evil/creepy sounding to this day. You'd think this genre of music would have started out a tad bit softer, playing around with heavily distorted power chords in a more simple experimental way and such. But the self titled Sabbath song feels very precise, creates an unmistakable atmosphere and presence right off the bat. Changed the course of music all by itself. Very few songs are able to do that.

Believing in the existing of the satan and worshiping it are 2 different things. These bands imo are warning the listeners that evil powers do exist. Knowing and be aware, and loving the music at the same time

He tuned down to C# for tons of songs. He lost the tips of 2 of his fingers and standard tuning was pretty painful on his fingertips.

So I guess I'm a million years old, I was born on 1970, same year Black Sabbath came out.... And.... I've been a metal head since. I remember first time I seen Venoms album cover in Mothers Records, I had to have it. It was Black Metal in 1982ish I believe.... I still have it.... Of all these bands, I believe it was a marketing thing with exception of Mayhem. (The original members) Were nucking futs.... Burning church's, murder, throwing dead animals, (whole ones and pieces....) crazy.... I, for one, believe in the red, arrow pointed tail beast, but not even close to worshipping him.... I'm not real religious, believe in God, but will be a metal head till the day I take that final breath... FUCKING SLAYER!!!!! (Kerry's new band/single is brutal.... Album comes May 17th, yes I'm counting!!!!)

people like to define God in their own way and say “I don’t believe this” and “I worship this” are modern constructs symptomatic of the dying world. All of this was here before you came along and believe yourself to be king. There are in reality two sides. God’s side and everything else. It doesn’t matter what you worship if it’s not God, it’s one (or more) lies of the devil.
The problem is… only God gives life. You can worship anything else and you’ll get exactly what you worship…. Freedom from God. That is, freedom from life…. Which is death.

I really dislike the whole satanic imagery and BS. Normally I ignore bands that embrace such stupidity like if that is the limits to your creativity then you suck lol.
As an agnostic, I could care less what the uptight churchers think. I can only say that I enjoy the classically-forged soul bending enchantment of metal, and believe it to be the panacea for the great cleansing to come.

He first actually gives very strong arguments as to why God doesn’t exist, which could actually make even devout Catholics question their faith…
Then he proceeds to debunk these arguments and show how ridiculously stupid they are, showing how it’s clear and obvious that there must be a God.
Yet did he back up these proposed "strong arguments" with any actual photos or verifiable voice recordings from the times of origin? I didn't think so. I would also suggest that you look up the definitions of Agnostic vs Atheist. Have a nice life.
