Haven't been to our HL in ages. I get quite a bit of yarn given to me and from auction. Love so many of the yarn you saw at your HL 😊. I wanted to say how I've been given the loopy yarn, and I snipped the thread holding it in ➿ loops. Then made great niece and nephew blankets from it. Same with the really thick 6-7 weight yarn. Made my great nephew a nap mat like we had in kindergarten. Have a great day 😁.
For me, Hobby Lobby has become more of a “Home Goods” store and less of a craft store. They have towels, dog/cat toys, pillows, collectibles, etc. The yarn is now at the way back of the store in the corner and went from 4 aisles to 2. They got rid of a lot of their craft items. They need to change their name. Huge disappointment for me.
Agree. Joann’s has the best selection in my area. I think they have probably 4-6 isles at least. Huge variety. HL is definitely going downhill in the yarn dept which is too bad esp as popular as crocheting has become lately 😬🙄☹️
Agreed. Unfortunately in my area the craft choices are HL, Michael’s and a random smattering of things from Walmart. The closest Joann’s is 2 hours away.
I used the loopy yarn before I learned how to crochet. I made Christmas stockings, hats, scarves and blankets with it. Then I learned how to crochet and haven’t used it since.
Amethyst is a naturally occurring purple stone. You may have also heard of and seen Alexandrite. I LOVE the Yarn Bee Scrub-ology Cotton. I knit it with Dishie or Lily Sugar and Cream and make small (sponge size) dish cloths.
I just wish they had bigger yarn Ben's, it takes at least 6 scans to make anything worth while and and they only put out like 4 or 5 scans. Pig pet peeve of mine! I just want at least 10 scans of not more to make a decent sized blanket .
It is sad they are getting away from being a hobby/craftstore and more of a Homegoods. I see Michael’s is also downsizing their yarn aisle. One of my Michael’s stores has one aisle and another has 2 and a half. I know which one I will be frequenting. I just started crocheting and it’s so disappointing the craft stores are getting away from yarn. It’s such a popular hobby right now. I guess we will have to go to online to purchase quality yarn.
I used to stop at HL all the time. It was always crowded. Loved the Christian music but it wasn’t playing on my last trip. I loved so many things that are gone like the floral arrangements. Contacted HL with a positive email/question and no reply. What I liked about HL was the displays which were upscale. There was a decorator touch. Each department felt special. I love new needles, bags, and notions. Especially when I am starting a new project it is motivating to buy a new something for the sewing kit or crochet tote. This was all on clearance so will be gone soon. I crochet and embroider. I asked the manager who came over to help bag how do people like the new selections and she just smiled and said we are making changes since BB&B closed to bring in those customers. I told her the store was very empty and I don’t even see many employees. I went 2 times this summer and may go back for certain things but I don’t want cheap dishes, plastic picnic items, or dorm bedding. So disappointed.
My favorite yarn from hobby lobby at present is simply flawless. It is 420 yards and 6.99 when it's not on sale. They do have limited colors now but the colors they do have are beautiful.
After buying some stock from Bed bath and beyond they have downsized a lot of their different sections. Not as fun to shop. Hope they realize their mistake sooner than later
They have some "unexpected" stuff much like most people here are mentioning here at my Hobby Lobby. I thought it was really cute that they have Bob Ross and Hello Kitty toasters to put their images on your toast and such. I know I love to do jewelry making and the beads are usually always on sale every week. But, the down side is I really miss their 40% coupons that you could use. Not all items are on sale not even periodically. I do miss that a lot!
For the thick yarn , I use them to make blankets , you can either get a really big hook or just use your hands , it is warm but also cooling . Depending on how skilled you are will determine your speed to make a blanket . I also heard you can make a basket with the thick yarn but I have never tried it
Mine used to be 3 & 1/2 aisles. Now 1 & 1/2. An employee told me when Bed Bath Beyond was closing down HL was trying to purchase a lot of their inventory to sale. & I said but they don't sale hobby supplies. "Well they making room to try something new" she wasn't happy either. She said she crochets too.😮
Thank you for your review. As for thick yarn, I used super bulky wool for a bolero or hats. BUT how do I clean it? It would either have to be hand-washed or taken to a good dry cleaner. I decided not to use the bulky yarns anymore.
I hardly go to Hobby Lobby anymore. Our Joann’s was closed and Hobby Lobby has reduced the yarn section and other departments that I shop. Michael’s Loops and Threads, I don’t like. Now having to buy my yarn on line. Very disappointed.
My Hobby Lobby looks like WalMart. Sheets, towels, dinnerware, pillows, curtains. you name it took the space of the needlework department. If they cut the size down anymore they might as well not have it. They do not have any quality yarn anymore.
Great to see you on here with a yarny tour! I haven't been in my local hobby lobby since their clearance sale over a year ago, but my youngest who's a model train enthusiast has been in there and is pretty disappointed, saying they're using the -hobby- part of the name very loosely!😢
Haven’t been to Hobby Lobby in over six months. So definitely need to be gone. Have been doing a lot of stash shopping. Hope you’re having a great day.❤
I just went into my hobby lobby the other day for the very first time because it's a new store where i am. I usually go to Michael's for yarn but i think im switching to Hobby Lobby! I think the yarn selection is better and it made me more excited to craft. ❤
Mine was doing a reset, I asked the lady working & she told me they were shrinking it ANOTHER WHOLE AISLE! What the what?!? Hobby Lobby is shooting themselves in the foot😢
It is not just the yarn. It is their entire craft area and selections. They have fewer frames, fewer artist colors, and fewer craft supplies in general until a few years ago, they used to sell other brands of yarn. Now, they only sell their brand, and they are down to 1 full aisle and 1 side of the next aisl. Soon, they will do what "At Home" formerly known as Garden Ridge did and do away with the craft supplied altogether.
We have all been complaining to and about the changes in Hobby Lobby. One would think that maybe, just maybe, Hobby Lobby would start listening!! Really a disappointment to walk into their stores now. Even the employees seem disheartened. Most at our local store have gone elsewhere. I miss the days when I walked in and even the manager could call me by name. SAD!
Hi Ginger. I went today. Saw a few different colors. I did get some gold with black specks. BTW. My Joann's has some different colors in the Redheart granny square yarn. With 20% off it was still expensive.
TFS. I too am so incredibly bummed that they don't have the solid Sugarwherl cottons. That was one of my favorite cottons. I've been shopping my yarn also so haven't been to the craft stores in quite some time. Ahh, my sister's & my uncles birthday is September 6th. That'll be quite the party for your family
Hey Ginger, you have been making some beautiful tops which I've seen in the shorts! Way to go...I wish I lived closer so I could take crochet lessons from you. (Don't know if you even give them, LOL). Thanks for keeping us up to date on Hobby Lobby!
Same… mine might be 1 1/2 isles but very sad to see it keep shrinking down. Seems like bad choice imo with crocheting becoming so popular these days. My JoAnns had the biggest and best selections these days.
Charoite, and sugelite also :) Thanks for the tour. I had to then go shop my stash and chant the mantra "crochet what you have, crochet what you have" lol
HL clearanced a bunch if hooks and knitting needles a couple months ago when they did the annual clearance. They must have been bringing in new items...
They got rid of two types of yarn I used for staple items for my booth. At the rate they’re going, they’ll have to take the word Hobby off their name….unless your hobby is eating and sleeping.
I think a fur blanket would be great but just an FYI… last season Costco had the most amazing cuddly fur blankets. I ended up buying sooo many for everyone in my family they were so cuddly. Plus they wash well AND probably cheaper than the cost of yarn to make. But yours would still be awesome and original. 😉
I have two Hobbies, one in PA and one in Maryland, both have huge yarn aisles.... hope it stays this way, so far I'm vary happy. I'm sorry yours is so small.
Hi Ginger!! Loved the look around at that hobby lobby. And I loved seeing your beautiful face. I miss you. Hope you are doing well. I can't wait to see you over on Discord in our little get togethers. 😘🤗❤️
Thanks for showing us how horrible the #hobbylobby Yarn selection has become. They used to be my first choice for purchasing yarns from Big Box Stores, but now #michaels and #Joannfabrics are back on the top now.
Loved the tour. I use the thick fluffy yarn to trim hats and things. I have not ventured to make a hat from one yet but I want to. My favorite yarns at HL are snugs and kisses and the pink one you picked up before, the four weight velevety one. Lavender something.
I’m very disappointed in Hobby Lobby and what they have done to the yarn department. Especially the I Love This Cotton section. They have cut way down on the color selection. I’m now shopping other stores for yarn. It’s very disappointing.
Wow, looks like people are getting more into macramé. I keep seeing new yarn come out for it. I don't need another hobby lol. My yarn already takes up so much space. Love the video and have been following u for a minute now. Thank you for checking their new stuff out for us !
Did I imagine this? I thought in the past Hobby Lobby would have yarn on sale one week and the next week was yarn accessories, like hooks and bags etc. Now the hooks are never on sale. I mean the prices are so good anyway.
Amigurumi in that plush fluffy chenille type yarn is really trendy right now . It makes for reakky cute soft plushies. If you look up amigurumi tutorials you will find most use this yarn. Also big fluffy blankets are fun
I'm looking for advice on purchasing a neck lamp & also a yarn winder. Any help would be appreciated. My sister uses that soft chunky yarn for floor rugs & Plushies.

HI Ginger, I love watching when you are shopping. I learn a lot, even hear a new joke or two. Love it!! I have not been into my Hobby Lobby lately so I could not tell you about that. I like all your videos. Are the yarn hookers ever going to get back together? I have been watching for that. A sub for a long time. Take care and see you next video.
My hobby lobby moved the yarn section back to where it was last year and gave us one less isle. They took away a lot, if not all, animal fiber yarn as well as all shock yarn. 😢
I gave up on HL, spend my money at Herschnerr's and JoAnn now. If I want overpriced home decor I can make it myself for a fraction of what it costs to buy. My Hobby Lobby barely has any yarn at all, and far far less of a selection of crochet thread.
Aren't any naturally occurring purple stones?? You clearly aren't a February baby or you wouldn't have forgotten about amethyst! There's also flourite which is purple and green.
So disappointed in Hobby Lobby shrinking the crafting hobbies in their stores. I was so excited to see the new yarn after the clearance. I found they shrunk the yarn aisle again. I loved HL because they always had yarns other stores did not. It is getting to the point where they have nothing new to offer me so I will be less likely to shop there.
I searched youtube to see if this is happening anywhere else and just what is going on....The yarn & fabric dept manager told me HL is moving the focus to the home decor area. The colors of ILTC are dwindling, and not to be replaced. Sad.... Our HL yarn dept is now only 1 aisle, 2 sides. It started with 4 aisles when it opened. The fad thick "Blanket Yarn" is being reduced as people are not buying it. She said the fabric dept stock was cut 30 %.
They just condensed. Needle art lost 1 whole side because yarn doesnt sell as well as home decor stuff that takes over whole store. I feel like HL turning unto all those closed stores Tuesday Morning, Bed, Bath & Beyond. Yarn selection getting smaller & smaller same as with other hobby isles.
It’s like going to a TJMaxx store lately……so I guess if your Hobby is shopping then this is your place. 1 1/2 aisle of yarn at my store…it’s pathetic especially when you rule out for me all the jumbo thick weights.
Hobby Lobby gutted their yarn department and I was soooo sad!!!!
Haven't been to our HL in ages. I get quite a bit of yarn given to me and from auction. Love so many of the yarn you saw at your HL 😊. I make chunky knit blankets with the 7 weight yarn.

Right!?! I don’t know why we need more home goods when we have so many store that sell them, and so few stores that actually sell fabric or yarn.
I totally agree
It’s a little more Lobby and a little less Hobby these days…
I used the loopy yarn before I learned how to crochet. I made Christmas stockings, hats, scarves and blankets with it. Then I learned how to crochet and haven’t used it since.
Amethyst is a naturally occurring purple stone. You may have also heard of and seen Alexandrite.

Thanks for the tour! I haven’t been to Hobby Lobby for many months and I did feel like I was yarn looking with you! 🧶 ❤

Purple stones that are naturally occurring, amethyst, agate, fluorite, alexandrite, purpurite, rhodolite, and many many more. :)
I hardly go to Hobby Lobby anymore. Our Joann’s was closed and Hobby Lobby has reduced the yarn section and other departments that I shop. Michael’s Loops and Threads, I don’t like. Now having to buy my yarn on line. Very disappointed.

I’m very unhappy they decreased they’re stock since Covid

Fellow Honda Fit owner here! Mine is Aegean Blue. I wish they still made them. Good willpower on showing us all the yarn and not buying any! 🏆
The rubber handled tiedied crochet hooks r Awsome to use I just love them for my arthritis!!!
My Hobby Lobby used to have 3 rows of yarn on both sides on both sides. Now, they only have 1 1/2 isles. Disappointed 😢
Hey Ginger, you have been making some beautiful tops which I've seen in the shorts! Way to go...I wish I lived closer so I could take crochet lessons from you. (Don't know if you even give them, LOL). Thanks for keeping us up to date on Hobby Lobby!
I was at the Lawrence store Saturday, same sad clearance... I thought the samething about the Scarfy. (I grabbed some of the buttons for hats.💜)😊
I knitted a blanket with giant knitting needles. And it will hurt your hands. My daughter really loves it
Yes! Bulky and super bulky is very hard to knit with if you have any hand issues like arthritis.
Your Hobby Lobby is so much bigger than mine. We have 2 small aisles with yarn.
Same… mine might be 1 1/2 isles but very sad to see it keep shrinking down. Seems like bad choice imo with crocheting becoming so popular these days. My JoAnns had the biggest and best selections these days.
Hi! Just saw your video. I spin on a wheel and sometimes buys the roving yarn on sale, separate it and spin it into a different gauge to crochet with
I don’t buy that mega huge yarn either…I’m surprised they sell that much of it
Charoite, and sugelite also :) Thanks for the tour. I had to then go shop my stash and chant the mantra "crochet what you have, crochet what you have" lol
Oh and yes i love this video! Im all for yarn shopping or sight seeing without buying 😂
Appreciate the tour. I’ve never been to Hobby Lobby but maybe I need to.
HL clearanced a bunch if hooks and knitting needles a couple months ago when they did the annual clearance. They must have been bringing in new items...
Thanks for the great tour. Love ❤️ hobby lobby
They got rid of two types of yarn I used for staple items for my booth.

Oooooooo!!! Now I want to go to Costco! 😂 If only the sold yarn too! 🤣
What a fun tour! Thanks, Ginger. ❤
Ty for the tour I don’t have a HL near me ❤❤❤
Big yarn for big thick afghans for those cold winter nights. My Granma's Bdy was Sept. 12.
Aloha Ginger. Loved the shopping with you today. ❤
I always enjoy a trip to Hobby Lobby. It’s become my go to for yarn.
Bubble yarn can be used for making toy sheep. They look amazing!
Thank you, Ginger. That was fun and next week is 30%off week!!!❤
I've seeing people make bucket hats out of that loop yarn, they're beautiful but I have no idea how none.
I’m disappointed in the shrinking yarn aisles at Hobby Lobby.
I have two Hobbies, one in PA and one in Maryland, both have huge yarn aisles.... hope it stays this way, so far I'm vary happy. I'm sorry yours is so small.
Thank you for the tour of your store ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Ginger, Enjoyed looking at the Hobby Lobby near you. Haven’t been to the one near me in a long time. 🧶🧶
The size 7 yarn is what I have made quick blankets out of, but beware: it hurts my shoulders because it involves lots of tugging.
Love yarn shopping with you!!
Thanks for taking us shopping! I subscribed, my first time viewing. 😊
Hi Ginger!! Loved the look around at that hobby lobby. And I loved seeing your beautiful face. I miss you. Hope you are doing well. I can't wait to see you over on Discord in our little get togethers. 😘🤗❤️
Hi Teresa 😄 Me too! I’m almost finished with my marathon of pattern tests, so I’m hoping to be able to then. 🥰
Ginger! I need a yarn office update video! 😅I love your yarns new house.😂 Do you have any videos about your office coming out soon? 😁🙏
Thanks for showing us how horrible the #hobbylobby Yarn selection has become. They used to be my first choice for purchasing yarns from Big Box Stores, but now #michaels and #Joannfabrics are back on the top now.
Great Tour, Thanks❤😊
I love those clover hooks I have 1 and I love it !
Hobby lobby is 5 minutes from my house but I've started driving 45 minutes to go to Joann's. Better yarn selection.
I take the loop yarn and wrap it around a wreath form really tight and makes a beautiful wreath
Wow, looks like people are getting more into macramé. I keep seeing new yarn come out for it. I don't need another hobby lol. My yarn already takes up so much space. Love the video and have been following u for a minute now. Thank you for checking their new stuff out for us !
I used a skein and made a crochet market bag with the natural sparkle macrame yarn 🧶.
Thanks for the tour!
Did I imagine this? I thought in the past Hobby Lobby would have yarn on sale one week and the next week was yarn accessories, like hooks and bags etc. Now the hooks are never on sale. I mean the prices are so good anyway.
Yeah the hooks are never on sale anymore. Which is disappointing.
Also, Ive made a blanket using the yarn bliss yarn. Literally the only thing I could thing of for something that thick of a yarn
Amigurumi in that plush fluffy chenille type yarn is really trendy right now . It makes for reakky cute soft plushies. If you look up amigurumi tutorials you will find most use this yarn. Also big fluffy blankets are fun
I made a pillow out of the loop yarn. It’s one of our favorite cozy cushy pillows.
I need to make another one. It was a quick and easy project.
I'm looking for advice on purchasing a neck lamp & also a yarn winder. Any help would be appreciated.
My sister uses that soft chunky yarn for floor rugs & Plushies.
Thanks for that!! ❤
If I win, if keep it for me. Since I have such a Military family, it would be perfect. I would let my granddaughters use my old one because they steal it to watch movies. Thank you for this giveaway. I'm sorry I missed the retreat. ❤
I got some of the soft and sleek dk in black. They had enough for a project for me a fluffy girl. I wish they would carry more then 3 in the colors
They totally downsized our Hobby Lobby - stinks.
I have used my knitting needles with the loop yarn. I made a blanket and a scarf
The plastic hooks that are knock offs of Prym hooks are the best.
Hobby lobby where I shop has downsized yarn department. So sad.
HI IT"S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU LOVE LISAMARIE
With the bamboo chunky I made a big triceratops toy😊
Mine went from a few aisles down to like one :-(
Our Hobby Lobby is set up like yours as of July
My hobby lobby moved the yarn section back to where it was last year and gave us one less isle. They took away a lot, if not all, animal fiber yarn as well as all shock yarn. 😢
I gave up on HL, spend my money at Herschnerr's and JoAnn now. If I want overpriced home decor I can make it myself for a fraction of what it costs to buy. My Hobby Lobby barely has any yarn at all, and far far less of a selection of crochet thread.
I make rugs with the thick chunky yarn.

The store needs to be renamed Home Goods Lobby! I have given up on Hobby Lobby.
Right?!? They are seriously turning into a Home Decor store. 😢
Grogu. Not sure of the spelling 😀That’s the little green guy.
Actually, I think that one was really yoda possibly. 😊
What is your favorite stitch in crocheting blankets?
It’s like going to a TJMaxx store lately……so I guess if your Hobby is shopping then this is your place. 1 1/2 aisle of yarn at my store…it’s pathetic especially when you rule out for me all the jumbo thick weights.
Mine is smaller and further back again.
I don't even go to Hobby Lobby no more they got rid of so much yarn it's not even worth going into the stores no more
I know! I’m so sad😭 But I do love the Yarn Bee Yarns! 🤪
I agree!! The yarn is diminishing!!! So disappointing!!!!
I'm sorry iI went to Hobbi Lobby in Midland Michigan was not impressed. I only seen two rows of yarn.
