I got to meet him and the band in the early nineties. The audience was horrible, throwing crap on the stage, etc. They were so gracious after the show. I apologized to them for the idiots in my home town. Their response was, "hey man, it's rock n' roll!" Very cool guys! RIP Kevin
What a sweetheart of a man he was, full of insecurities like everybody else. So sad he couldn’t get out in time from the hell of drugs to stay a little longer here amongst us. Growing up I listened to their music like a maniac. Respect & love to Quiet Riot. ❤️❤️

Have to say as a 14 year old kid when Metal Health was released, it was the starting point of my love for music. They were my first favorite band, and i break them out on Spotify on occasion to this day.....rip Frankie and Kevin 🤘🤘👍
I wish I could sing like him. Their sound was what I always wanted to bass mine on. Guitar first, but I had a bass too, it was like dual active 2 batteries it sounded like it had a chorus pedal. So clean and aural. The bass was my natural instrument and my brothers a freaky great guitarist. No one tells you how cool the bass is. I had that bass, a chorus, compression, reverb tube amp. Had all my gear. I'd have given it all for his voice. He is so smart, and cool guy man.
RIP Kevin😪Wish u were still alive. QR (and AC/DC) was my first turn on to metal. Suprisingly humble and insightful at the peak of Quiet Riot’s fame. Kevin Dubrow had charisma and a good voice w range. Unfortunately, Quiet Riot didnt hit the charts with any of their other releases post Metal Health.
Heaven and Krockus was big and Rose Tattoo and Gama with Montrose . They had a one hit album but it was big at the time . Shopping malls and record stores selling albums and cassettes.
I think the rock mags back in the 80s had fun making him look like a jerk. He's very humble and grounded in this interview. He was not liked by a lot of budding musicians in the 80s.
Saw him in 1999 at The Station in RI a couple of years later it burned down when Great White played there lost two friends…Q R Metal Health and Pyromania were the two first records I bought at 13 in 1983 with my own money
Dr. Terry Dubrow of Botched & Kevin were Brothers. I can understand, being so different that they had a very complicated relationship. Terry has said they were estranged @ the time of his death. Though, he feels his brother is @ Peace now. ❤️🙏👍🤙
Def seemed like a nice guy. Sure drugs may have changed him as fame and money kept coming . But dam shame it did him in . Definitely a unique vocalist . And since his passing. Not one of the replacement singers could ever sound or capture what Kevin Dubrow put out both vocally or stage presence. His voice was what made QR unique. Idk but still enjoy listening to QR songs in 2021 , ( but just with Kevin dubrow ) and the original band !
At 5:50, he says I don't like playing clubs. I came down to a club called Madame Wongs West to see the band DuBrow for the radio station I worked at for the local music show. I walked backstage and he asked with a towel around his neck, what did I think? I said it was loud but great! He replied, Do you know how how it is up there? 🫠😃 Great guy! A friend of mine Mark directed their breakthrough video!
I always thought of him as an ahole. But his interviews were pretty normal and they did open up a while genre of music. He deserves some credit. But he needed a better wig in his later years.
Andrew Zenn Met Kevin after a show and hung out for a few hours. Super nice guy, and probably the most intelligent rocker I’ve ever hung out with. He was the kind of guy that after 5 minutes you felt like you’ve known for much longer.
I liked QR big time back in the day, but to answer your question it was Kevin's big mouth that caused them not to be as successful. he just ran his mouth so much that he made a lot of bands and people in the music industry not even want to work with them
I bought "Metal Health" when i was a kid. I remember after QR became HUGE Kevin started getting a real bad rap in the metal, rock magazines for being a big mouth. But, from I've just seen he seems to be very nice.
His off-the-cuff humor once printed in magazines, didn't capture the irony and sarcasm, so it appeared he was actually insulting other people. Really, at his core, he had that old-school Jewish humor and timing. Later on he was more down-to-earth, but the damage was done sadly. They had two big albums, followed by good albums that got largely ignored.
Back then, with names like that, I guarantee they were an Irish Catholic family. People's names after the 90s make it impossible to tell someone's ethnicity.
It had all the markings of one hit wonder and it was. That is not a sin. But it amazes me how inept the record labels were. “A” was successful”. Let’s sign a bunch more A’s!! And let’s have QR do another A with another Slade cover song. Can’t fail!
Haha. His panties match his stage clothes. Quiet Riot was cool tho. In 1983... as a kid.... they were 'rock stars'. Quiet Riot always reminded of Twisted Sister. They weren't hard rock or heavy metal... but more... cartoon rock. Goofy. Animated. Totally over-the-top. And topped with cheese, just the way an 80s band should be.
he should have maintained the clown look. They kind of fucked up like Twisted Sister. if hey had stayed with the pumping rock and a few anthems would have lasted better.
I love the first bit. The director was ready to roll, and he's like yeah, well, I'm busy signing this kids autograph. The real deal. 💯
Very sad he passed away at only 52. You can tell he was a smart and genuinely kind man. I hope he's in a better place now.
Met them a few times in the 90's They were all great.
