World of Warships - Quick Cut: Tier IX Premium Japanese Battleship Iwami (Ranked Gameplay)

- There aren't many Japanese battleships that I care for; Tier IX's Izumo and Hizen chief among them. It's possible, however, that Iwami here may win me over. She is basically a Hizen with fewer barrels on a faster reload plus Shimakaze torpedoes lurking off her stern. She's a kiter, not a brawler, but her guns do reliable enough work that I may play this one more regularly. This Ranked game on Haven is my very first spin in the ship. Let me know what you think.

Remember when sailing a cruiser broadside to a battleship was a death sentence?
Can't tell you how many times I've been forced into a turn I did not want to make by incoming torpedoes. I like Iwami, I have to get much better at BB play for me to enjoy it though.
I prefer the Mocha or Chocolate Mint Kit-Kats, but the Dark chocolate are good too.
I've had people try to tell me RNG isn't real in this game.... but some of those salvos man. I had 2 games yesterday that left me confused. I somehow snuck up on an island camping Worcester, IN A MONTANA, I was literally 3 km from his ship and got along his side because he couldn't move. Fired a full Salvo at water line, all 12 shells were overpens and he lived, It took 2 salvos. 2nd game I citadeled a Pommern in my Moskva at around 16km. I've also had games where I should've been dead in a ship and I see negligible overpen damage.
Anywho, Iwami is an odd ship, it doesn't seem inherently horrible. But I don't think "brawling" when I think of IJN vessels. 20km torps with kiting angles, 8x410mm or is it 406mm, and a bunch of okayish secondaries. It seems more like a ship that would perform best when defending a push or kiting, possibly an ambush BB, maybe get a push in if your flank is at an advantage. I worry they're putting too many ships in that try to do too many things all at once.
If you needed to pick between Black an Iwami. Based on reviews which would you spend coal on?

I'm on the fence about Iwami. I wanted to like Hizen so much and she's such a let down. Iwama has great sigma but you couldn't really tell from her consistency.
Same, honestly. This is only one game in a very controlled environment (ranked). Hizen is terrible. Iwami is... well, she's at least playable. Does that make her worth the coal? Probably not.
