It's a legitimate shame that PunkDuck doesn't have a larger fan base, these videos are irrefutably high quality. Which is a breath of fresh in the cesspool of recycled content we call UA-cam anymore
As someone who spent 2 months to go from 0 to Gold in Street Fighter 5 not too long ago, I really hope this video encourages people to give the genre a shot. There will always be some character who has some quality that fits you, and mastering your playstyle with that character feels very fulfilling.
As someone who hasn't enjoyed the fighting genre like never, I tried a lot of games, and MK11 was my favorite, fun and is easy for idiots like me, I do recommend try because you may find a game of that genre you really like (I have over 60 hrs on mk11 so it was worth the try of different games)
This was great! My fond memories of playing street fighter as a strapping young boy were repressed by a history of alcohol induced amnesia, but you just brought em back - cheers.
This is genuinely an incredible video in terms of comedy as well as pushing forward the fighting game community while highlighting the issues with a lot of the games, I really hope this gets a ton of views and gets out there
I really hope Tekken 8 has some kind of single player arcade type mode like 4 and 5, I suck at Tekken but being able to play through a mini-campaign with a story for each character was so much fun and made me never even consider I could be playing against other people.
I play treasure mode cuz I love the crazy combinations of gear they put on ppl XD getting wrecked by Jin or Paul with gamer girl headset and anime girl blush make the beating worth it
Interesting that Them's Fightin' Herds only got a passing reference at the beginning of the sponsor. It's got a great tutorial and is an excellent way for someone new to the genre to learn the basics of fighting games.
The problem is, for me, is that I’ll buy a fighting game I’m genuinely interested in, load up training mode and get a feel for things, and right before I queue for that first casual match, I freeze up because I’m too afraid to get humbled. For example, Street Fighter 6. I bought the game the day it was released, and I was really excited because it was my first SF game. I hyped myself for months prior because this would be the fg i would “finally play online”. I was even perfectly fine with the fact that there would be veteran, because I knew there would simultaneously be new players like myself. But on that day, after loading up the game, going through the tutorial, and gravitating towards Kimberly, I thought I was ready to give online a try. But nope, even after all the mental preparation I put myself through, I couldn’t do it. However, I hadn’t exactly given up just yet, as I thought, “Well, it is kinda late. Maybe a fresh start in the morning will give me the push i need to at least try”. But, as i feared, it didnt happen. So now, SF6 is yet another fighting game in my backlog that will almost certainly never get touched again because I’m too afraid to take that first step. I know this comment was long, but it’s because this video and others like it have helped me put into words why, despite loving the fg genre, I just can’t really get that much into them. I don’t really know if anyone else is in this same boat, but this is my personal reason for not giving these games the respect and time they deserve.
Yeah I totally get you, that's why I highly recommend playing against someone you know (preferably on the same skill level) instead of playing against random people online; I also tend to get in my head about my performance in ranked but when I play with friends we all dick around
I truly love fighting games. Even as a total casual, I can experience the true joy of repeatedly doing walk-up dragon punches. The best part, of course, being the oh so visceral reaction they give in the very moment, and getting to do so repeatedly to them within a single round.
Stumble upon your vid 6m after release and was astounishing. But, although your video was great, one thing stuck me the most... the "at my local portuguese arcade scene"! Such and enjoyment seeing a fellow Portuguese with such quality videos here. keep up!
I miss you, Punk Duck...why dont you come back and make a new video? Come on boy come back. Dragons Dogma 2 came out. You like Dragons Dogma, huh buddy? Yeah i know you do! Make a video about DD2! GO ON! GOOD BOY THATS A GOOD BOY! THERE YA GO!
Love the growth you had throughout the years brother. I first found you through your rage montage videos, and haven't stopped watching since. No matter what genre of videos you bake out, they're always top notch. Keep climbing the hill bro. Love ya.
I appreciate the video, but there's no way I'm going back to playing fighting games. For me, it was like putting my dick in a meat grinder and churning it, expecting it to be fun. Spoiler alert, IT'S NOT!!! I used to love playing them, but when literally all online matches are sweat fest, I couldn't stand putting up with it anymore. I'm at the point now in my life where multiplayer games are dog shit to me, and single-player games are God blessings to us gamers. I love your content and appreciate your hard work with your videos nonetheless ❤️!! Fucking hell do I miss your content!!!
After watching this I bought most of the popular fighting games for around 45 bucks. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Injustice 2 Legendary Edition, TEKKEN 7 - Definitive Edition, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, SOULCALIBUR VI Deluxe Edition.
Glad to see you well and healing and still continuing to make content despite it all. It’s not easy to escape an abusive relationship and I am proud you’ve made it this far.
I have dabbled in fighting games. Absolver was probably my favourite, honestly I wish that game focused more on the singleplayer/coop, the PVP was fun but it needed more meat with the other stuff to last I think.
Whenever I play a fighter with my friends they always ask "Are you playing with your Fightstick? " and when I say "Yeah" they all collectively dawg on me
As a note, personally i found inputs to be a big barrier in stuff like Street Fighter. The inputs on Nether Realm fighters like Injustice and Mortal Kombat are a little easier with a controller. This might help someone decide their fighter.
I got into fighting games through Guilty Gear Strive and MAN, let me tell you, there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing big numbers from YOUR own complex actions (and maybe some glue sniffing)
I'd really like to recommend Power Rangers Battle for the Grid, a great game that, even without a huge playercount, is a really good introduction to Anime Fighters in general. It really helped me learn how to think about combos in games like marvel or Fighterz.
I will also add if going on Rank isnt your thing (i dont blame you), there are dozens and dozens of wonderful discord communities out there if people want more of a community experience and meet people within the scene that can help you learn. With more and more fighting games having crossplay too it means that getting hardware locked is becoming less of an issue if you pick a modern game, especially with SF6 you can hop into a lobby with people playing on all different consoles and play together.
So real the fact of playing a fighting game with a friend, I started playing SF6 with a friend and we spent like 10 hours just playing like crazy without even knowing wtf we were doing, stoping mid match to check out some things giving advices to each other and after like 200 matchs together we hop on ranked and it was way better than I expected, currently platinum on SF6 after only 3 months of playing
I have played many a fighting game, and I ended up finding myself playing DOA the most because I like its mechanics the best. I enjoy the lower value placed on combos and the larger emphasis on consistently outplaying your opponent over the course of a match by punishing whiffs and by using good counters. Not that I can ever bring up the game without people hitting me with the "HHHUUUUUHHH? THE TIDDY FIGHTER?" Not that it doesn't deserve that reputation, I just wish people were able to acknowledge that it's *also* a genuinely good fighting game.
Bro its been so long in totally forgot about that xbalanque joke man. Thank go you still make videos man I wish you would upload more consistently, but I'm fine with these videos every once in a while since you put so much work into them. Thank you man !
As someone whose only fighting game experience is Smash Bros and For Honor. I have a personal fear of meeting those godlike players that do a 100% to 0% combo, because I missed a single input 20 minutes ago. With that said. Fighting Videogames soundtracks are *chef kiss*
One of the main problems for me then, is that I fundamentally do not enjoy competing with my friends. I like being cooperative with them, but not competing against them. I like competing with other people. I just found that in the same way that being a longtime FPS player, when trying to pick up say MOBAs, it took me cumulatively thousands of hours of Dota and League to become an average player, to just catch up to the rest of the playerbase, be able to control my camera and character somewhat competently e.t.c. Fighting games are like the equivalent of that, but it's a 1v1, or the equivalent of getting someone who's never played an FPS game in their life to play Quake ranked 1v1. The learning curve is just obscene. I just don't have the time to do that again for another new game genre while having zero fun b/c I can feel how incompetent I am with the basic systems. On top of that, motion inputs are literally unlike anything I've ever seen in a game. On top of that, due to rollback netcode I think, the game I tried to get into (Guilty Gear Strive) is locked at 60fps. I've been making games look like washed out low rez potato tier since I was a child to run them at high FPS, so telling me to very precisely space someone and react to quick animations in 60fps is...not something remotely enjoyable for me. It makes me sad though, I wish I got into them when I was a kid, as on paper they are basically everything I want in a game.
Man we have an arcade in my work. Our lunch breaks spent in this thing are absolutely worth it! Just to try any random fighting game and see each other improve by trial and error is awesome. I'm currently the best at KOF 2002 and I trash talk everyone
ive been playing alot of street fighter 6 lately and ive been getting really good. i never really thought that i could get into the since fighting game are so hard but it just made the learning of the the game so fun. also ranked is a blast! GREAT VIDEO !
Dude I love your videos, I still remember the monster hunter video straight up teaching me ruiner nerg spikes shoot outside of the hand he lifts up and that was a game changer for me. And I'm currently trying to get into fighting games myself.
So you upload 2 videos a year and I just so happened to catch this video within the first hour of it being published? Hell yeah brother, I feel like I witnessed something special!
I wouldn’t call it ‘shit talk’, though even at it’s most friendly that kind of banter and during-game chat is usually referred to as that. I absolutely endorse the advice that the best way is always to get the game with someone you know to play and learn together. If that doesn’t work you can try seeking a discord that supports newer players to get games with voice chat and ideally others at your level of experience. It really makes a world of difference in terms of enjoyment and growth to speak with your opponent as you play.
It's unbelievable. My man was my favourite smite content creator, and now he's out here mentioning marvel, a game I got numerous top 8s in and love with all my fibre, and going to twt with my favourite obscure gaming content maker. Punkduck, if I ever see you, I'm buying you a beer. Much love from a fan in Scotland, long live the FGC.
Watched your videos since I was a kid playing smite, now years later here I am watching I NEVER thought you were into Fighting games. MAKE MORE FGC CONTENT PLEASE!!!
I know why I like fighting games, big rosters of unique characters with unique playstyles. And all the reasons you listed people don't like fighting games are why I don't, I have a friend who's like you are at fighting games and I can't possibly get better than him, I've hit a skill ceiling so once he gets his hands on a fighting game I own and can practice I move on to what's next. I'll always like fighting games but only ever casually
I stopped playing fighter games because one time I was in an mk10 lobby against a rando. He just kept spamming ranged at me while I was trying and failing to do some basic ass combo I was practicing. It was 1 to 1 and I was already having a shit day from earlier games so I just started randomly mashing buttons as hard and fast as I could and I kicked his fucking ass. At that point I realized it didn’t matter what I learned from Combo videos or how much i practiced against bots. I genuinely got more satisfaction watching fighter game content than I did from playing it myself. Now I barely summon the effort to look up the fatalities of the new mortal kombat release
Me and my family have been play tekken for years, to the point its practically our family sport. Everyone has a main and we use in house tournaments for arguments sometimes.
When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So when there i am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece and who shimmies in but Fighting Games. I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him, as he crouch blocked and waited, but didn't know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Fighting Games, but she wouldn't stop. Pretty soon Fighting Games gets up and DPs. He started spacing his light punch through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Fighting Games stopped and tea-bagged back, 1+3’d my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it. Please make more fighting game videos PLEASE
6:32 that killed me, thank you very much no to be honest, the only thing still keeping me away from hitting that "play online match" button, is the mentality i have that if i lose the entire world mocks me
It's a legitimate shame that PunkDuck doesn't have a larger fan base, these videos are irrefutably high quality. Which is a breath of fresh in the cesspool of recycled content we call UA-cam anymore
Well he upload a video every 6 months so your not getting a huge fanbase put of dat at least on yt
I know right! What a loser
Underrated tho
If he uploaded more than 3 times a year he’d have a huge fan base
why did you randomly throw "anymore" at the end of that sentence
New Punk Duck video hitting like the Sloppenheimer 4000
I guess you could say.... this video was DA BOMB 😂😂😅😅😅🎉😉
the fucking WHAT 🤣🤣🤣
As someone who spent 2 months to go from 0 to Gold in Street Fighter 5 not too long ago, I really hope this video encourages people to give the genre a shot.
There will always be some character who has some quality that fits you, and mastering your playstyle with that character feels very fulfilling.
SF6 is how i discovered i liked eating glue
in 2 months you might get to masters its kinda easy
@@vontecontroll1556 I got from rookie to master in 8 days, easy ass rank tbh (the skill gap between master ranks is insane tho)

That soul caliber 4 intro took me back. Also Yoda is stupid.
@@Discerned_i just took him as a joke character tbh like gon in tekken but western
I can be 16 years old and I can 24 years old, and I'll still die laughing from your videos, thank you Ed, never stop doing what you do.
This is genuinely an incredible video in terms of comedy as well as pushing forward the fighting game community while highlighting the issues with a lot of the games, I really hope this gets a ton of views and gets out there
Using that specific Woolie clip was godlike. Amazing video, Punk!
Thank you for imparting Daigo's message to us, both of you are champs.
I really hope Tekken 8 has some kind of single player arcade type mode like 4 and 5, I suck at Tekken but being able to play through a mini-campaign with a story for each character was so much fun and made me never even consider I could be playing against other people.

"I'm telling you the wrong throw break on purpose" while King does his god damn rolling death cradle is just...mwah.
Magical
My god the production value is through the roof! Good job!

Going on my twice a year punk duck binge just to see a new video :)

"getting my ass beaten and eaten by my uncle was always a consistent blast, he was also way better than me at Soul Calibur"
This notification almost made me get in a rear end collision at 60 miles an hour. 10/10 masterpiece
That intro tho. These are such high quality and the writing gets better every video
Man, Punk Duck doesn't upload often, but when he does, it's always a BANGER

Nah the Mr wizard in the SF3 intro edit was crazy 😭
This video made me take the plunge and now with over 20 hours inside skullgirls, I can't wait for 2xko
The music used, the editing, the script. You're alot cooler than I thought mr Gay Duck
13:45 Lol the maximillian doodle outro
It's always such a boost of dopamine to see your new upload.
8:00 is truly inspirational, thank you Daigo for giving us the advice we need to become as good of a fighting game player as you! ☺️
So glad for another vid man!
Man I remember your SMITE videos, good to see you are still making videos, love your style of content.
OMG THE WOOLIE VS BIG BAND CLIP SO GOOD!!!
That intro was tuff.
I’ve been playing fighting games for about 10 years now so I didn’t need any convincing but this was a great video.
Wasn't expecting this crossover Leon and Punk
It's unbelievable.
My man was my favourite smite content creator, and now he's out here mentioning marvel, a game I got numerous top 8s in and love with all my fibre, and going to twt with my favourite obscure gaming content maker.
Punkduck, if I ever see you, I'm buying you a beer.
Much love from a fan in Scotland, long live the FGC.

Glad your back 🎉

Me and my family have been play tekken for years, to the point its practically our family sport. Everyone has a main and we use in house tournaments for arguments sometimes.
When I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So when there i am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece and who shimmies in but Fighting Games.

A PunkDuck video is always a need in my life
Wow, this was a fantastic video punkduck!
I will not be playing a single game contained in this video
6:32 that killed me, thank you very much
no to be honest, the only thing still keeping me away from hitting that "play online match" button, is the mentality i have that if i lose the entire world mocks me
The bus keeps getting full. Quality content, as always Punk.
