Yeah! The most time we listen to things like "it's robbery", "not fair" or at least, when are some knowledge, "this have more/less priority", but in the most cases lacks of clean vision on why the things happen the way they do. I mean, no one complains about pay rent in Monopoly after role the dices. You know what I'm saying?

this is a really good video. i love how the little clips PERFECTLY illustrate what's being said, like when you're talking about ways around neutral and you show how tokido beat punk at evo 2018. for people who might not understand that clip, punk was playing karin, a character which excels at playing footsies, and punk is a player with one of the most solid understandings of the neutral game around. tokido's character, akuma, is no slouch in the neutral game, and tokido as a player is amazing as well, but he's arguably worse than punk at just playing a straight up game. so, tokido used akuma's ways AROUND the neutral game to destroy punk.
I hate saying this because it's not necessarily a productive comment, but I'm always genuinely shocked when a CAG video comes out. Thank you. Edit: Superb. This ended up being a much more comprehensive overview of what makes fighting games great, but from a more technical perspective. It makes communicating these concepts to my nonbeliever friends much easier. Awesome.
Honestly, we're in a fighting game renaissance right now. Video games are still a very young media with fighting games being a sub genre. There's like 10+ fighting games that are popular you can choose from sfv, tekken 7, uniclr, mk11, gran blus vs, sam sho, soul calibur, kyanta 2, third strike, and smash ultimate. This is the video I sent to my non-fighting game friends so they can start approaching the game from an open-minded, analytical standpoint. So they can start respecting it and then start playing differently. In my experience, telling non-fighting game friends that button-mashing isn't useful usually comes across as you just being a snob, despite the fact that it's not working for them. That's why I think the opening of this video, that conpares the ludicracy of it to games that are mainstream is so amazing in hooking them to keep watching, due to repeatability. AMAZING job!

Tekken Ps1 FUN! XD
I hate when I get juggled and trapped in Tekken

DUDE Ghandi is a legend LOL what a great lore pull!
14:15 I have to say, that's some pretty clever use of editing right there
lol, the uncle sam of fighting game characters.
The amount of depth and detail in this is 🤯. I legit learned more on how to play fighting games from this 16min video then I have from +10 years of actually playing them with friends. Subbed
Well your friends don’t know how to play if this button mashing doing that in tekken is a Nono
As a button masher of 20 years, this has been a better lesson than any fighting game tutorial. Thanks!
I've waited ages for a new video
Bless
A wild praxi appears
What the random?!
Holy shit I didn't know you were a fan!
Excellent video. Especially the framedata section. I'll use this vid as reference any time someone claims you might as well just mash in a particular game.
Me: Damn there's nothing to watch on UA-cam
*uploads new analysis*
Me: Yes
I've re watched this so many times and It never gets old. I always share this to people new to fighting games. God i love this channel
The most didactic video about fighting games mechanics, ever! Every player (even the old ones) should watch this.
This is perfect to introduce anyone who are willing to learn fighting games properly.
Yeah! The most time we listen to things like "it's robbery", "not fair" or at least, when are some knowledge, "this have more/less priority", but in the most cases lacks of clean vision on why the things happen the way they do. Everyone can understand the rules behind the most games, but FGs... Feeling play a big share of FGs and because of that rules can be put aside sometimes... I mean, no one complains about pay rent in Monopoly after role the dices. You know what I'm saying?
Christian Martins
Or have them play MK11’s tutorial so they learn as they’re applying it.
Hey... I know that 'Head Movement' guy. He's really cool... and damn handsome.
He should make a channel.
Lol, you're a legend.
mad lad.
You are smart, dear sir
?
Jesus no wonder you don’t upload much. There’s so much information to cover
Why Rushing B every round doesn't work
it is not an exaggeration to say - I *love* this video.
since coming back on the scene to watch SF videos 4 years ago, I've been looking for a concise explanation to share with people about certain terms. especially "meaty, mixups, and frame traps."
thank you so much for this. and, as always - so entertaining.
Whoa, someone just told me you used T7 Chicken in your video! I'm the one that started the T7 Chicken project, I just want to say that it's awesome knowing you've installed it. Thank you!
That's awesome. It's been a good reference for learning Tekken.
Could you please walk me through what it is?
Legendary app! Thanks for seeing the need and addressing it!
AYYYY CHICKEN
Nickkkkkkkkkkkk
This is The FGC chanel
If you want to know the basics or the history from some fighting games this is the chanel you need
But the best part is that you don't get dizzy with the many information, the tier God edit, real life information (it feels so profesional everything) and cool music are awsome

Dude Chanel is my favorite Tekken player
this is a really good video. i love how the little clips PERFECTLY illustrate what's being said, like when you're talking about ways around neutral and you show how tokido beat punk at evo 2018. for people who might not understand that clip, punk was playing karin, a character which excels at playing footsies, and punk is a player with one of the most solid understandings of the neutral game around. tokido's character, akuma, is no slouch in the neutral game, and tokido as a player is amazing as well, but he's arguably worse than punk at just playing a straight up game. so, tokido used akuma's ways AROUND the neutral game to destroy punk.
Awesome.
Man I love fighting games, only thing I wish is that I got into them when I was younger, missed out on a lot of games in their prime
Plus all the other valued classics.
@@chaotixspark7934 also dbzf, and now strive
I have been rewatching all the old videos this week. Blew me away to see a title I hadn't seen already and then noticed the upload time. Turning on notifications for sure now! 😅
God I love this video and everything it stands for.

It is the BEST fighting game tutorial video clip I ever had.
Simple, straight-forward, and don't have a tone of professional term
This is my favourite channel on UA-cam. I didn't even care about Fighting games when I first saw this channel and now I'm pretty invested.
Thank you Gerald.
Glad you found it useful!
I'm sending this to my eight year old cousin and maybe he will be evo ready by next week
@-DE- Nerve get him evo ready we don't want him drowning in pools

"well that was easy"
-now see it at normal speed
OOH
Reads title, "I don't need to watch the video. The answer is obvious."
Wait...it's Core-A. Of course it's worth watching!
I’m literally going to watch this video 37 times. You give me hope for this platform.
I been playing fighting games all my life and this is the greatest analysis of all.
Ive never seen a more perfect demonstration of frame advantage in a video, holy shit
I don't even play fighting games much anymore but will always watch Core-A Gaming! LET'S GO, GERALD!
Absolutely phenomenal evaluation of these tricks. I have had to learn a lot of these vaguely over the years and I have never seen such a coherent review of this material. Just props to you.
0:47 That is the sexiest stick I've ever laid eyes on
I believe his wife gave that to him as a wedding present
This has been the single most informative overview of fighting game concepts I have ever had the pleasure of seeing, thank you.
Wow, feels like your editing really blew through the roof on this one.
Great job as always and glad to see you back
dude, you're the one who lured me to fighting games again. been practicing two months long in street fighter and tekken-just because of your videos.
i watch these vids everytime just because i can. solid content.

This is seriously one of the best fighting game analysis videos of all time and my favorite video on the channel.
Even though the video is about "Why Mashing Doesn't Work" it ends up dissecting fighting games to its very core; frame data, footsies, movement, etc
so good.
Man I love these edits, thanks to the editor this made my day.
14:12
I saw what you did there, Core-A-Gaming, and it was beautiful
Core-A: Mash L to do this: *procedes to do a DBF combo*
Persona 4 Arena Auto Combos: *Allow us to introduce ourselves*
DeggoEggo DBFZ combos are just really long autocombos
This video deserves to be spread. My grandkids are going to be irritated with me forwarding this in 30 years.
Love every content of this channel, I'm not even actively playing fighting game anymore these days.
He's back! Never clicked on the notification so fast in my life
Same here
Dude, same.
So you button mashed the notification button, huh? Surprising how it worked out well.
6:46 I didn't know Dante and Vergil were in this game!
0:40 "Who Am I?" is my favorite movie of all time, thank you for incorporating it.
This video makes me want to play a fighting game right now.
RIGHT NOW.
Tekken 7 goes on sale all the time, especially on PC ;)
Do it! Can't go wrong with MK11.
Play DBFZ!
Glad you're getting so many recommendations! If the other ones aren't your speed, Under Night In-Birth Exe Late[st] is another good game, with a healthy community, that's a little different from the other 3 posts 😂
Skullgirls !
Wow, this was the most comprehensive guide i ever saw about all these terms.
As someone that just watches fighting games but had no clue what half the stuff means, Thank you.
Assirra
Try MK11’s tutorial for application.
This video teaches me that all fighting games use the same term even when formatted differently.
Just going aerial
This is the video I sent to my non-fighting game friends so they can start approaching the game from an open-minded, analytical standpoint. So they can start respecting it and then start playing differently. In my experience, telling non-fighting game friends that button-mashing isn't useful usually comes across as you just being a snob, despite the fact that it's not working for them. That's why I think the opening of this video, that conpares the ludicracy of it to games that are mainstream is so amazing in hooking them to keep watching, due to repeatability. AMAZING job!
1:08 I want the original clip XD
Hey, Jared. Good stuff. I've been binge-ing your fighting games analysis videos for a couple of days now and I think you did a great job explaining all the fighting game concepts that even a beginner can understand. Hats off to you man :)
JDCR: the one jab os safe if you whiff it

Bruh I turned on UA-cam to pick a music playlist and fall asleep a hour and a half ago but I seen something interesting on the recommended and here I am at 5 in the morning with no sleep
total newbie here. i've been wanting to get into fg for a while and i just bought UNIST yesterday so finding this gem of an informative video was the cherry on top as i start my fg journey!! seriously, thank you for uploading this video. it was accessible and straightforward. definitely gonna bookmark this for reference.

Love the content! I'm about 4 years into my fighting game odyssey and It's fun to reminisce about the growing pains. Always room to improve of course!
Wow, growing up smashing button and being bad at fighting games to the point to avoid them, this is so well explained and clear. You are the MVP!!
