    WHAT IS HIGH GRADE STONE?
Anything you can run a 1/2" or more flake with a pressure flaker.
    HEAT TREATING:
Heat treat a few FLAKES of everything you got except HIGH GRADE Raw Stone, Obsidian, Dacite, Basalt, Hornstone, Sonora, Fort Payne, or Rhyolite. Start with flakes and spalls less than 1" thick for 200°F for 24 hours to dry it out. Then raise the temp to 275°F and hold for 4 hours. Let cool down for 12 hours. Chip and compare. If no difference, put back I at 200°F for 1/2 hour, then raise to 275 for 1/2 hour, then raise to 325 for 4 hours.
Let cool down for 12 hours. Chip and compare. If no difference, put back in at 200°F for 1/2 hour, then raise to 275 for 1/2 hour, then raise to 325 for 1/2 hour, the raise to 375 for 4 hours.
Repeat with temp going up 50°F until you reach 600°F or nice chippable stone. Whichever comes first. If no good result, or things blow up, let us know.

The quiver and arrows in my opinion must have belonged to him, it is extremely unlikely the attackers would drop one of theirs and not recover it, and a unrelated loss is even more unlikely, I can see that it’s possible they would recover his bow and may have been in a rush to recover the rest, although the axe was probably the most valuable item (not produced in the area) and not to recover it is confusing unless lost in the snow, they presume that the body even though found in a hollow has moved down the mountain with the ice thawing out a freezing a number of times, this would explain the distribution of the objects some metres away from the body. (See map in article below).
Tom Loy found 4 human blood samples from different individuals 2 on an arrow 1 one the knife and 1 on the cloak, Tom Loy sold the results to a newspaper as an exclusive rather than produce a scientific paper.
Lars Krutak in his paper believes that the tattoos were therapeutic due to the use of ash to make the designs in areas of pain, difficult to prove as there is only one example.
It would be difficult to judge the condition of objects after 5300 years, as too being dirty or the quiver broken and arrows in poor condition can only be speculative.
Have a look at New study of Ötzi the Iceman suggests his preservation story was not a series of miracles
I suspect we will never know but it’s fascinating 🤨

My thoughts on Otzi was that he was banished from his tribe/colony. That's why he had bare minimum items. No coat. And what he had was in bad shape or incomplete.. His "bow". His blade. So on and so forth. And he had pollen in his stomach.. I would expect a goat herder to have goat in his stomach. And on his person. I believe he had time to gather essentials and that's it.. He was probably not a good guy.. Nothing adds up. I think he was on the run and he parished in the elements..

Flintknappers are the nerds of society, it's likely always been that way. What? You think ASD is a recent human development? I doubt it. Nerds drive the advancement of technology, particularly in warfare, medicine, and food production, so they develop and teach the ordinary folks how to apply this technology since they are skinny and uncoordinated and unsuited to hunting and warfare. The finest examples of the state of (any) art are still produced directly by the nerds themselves, though. It would be interesting if a crack forensic team worked the Iceman case like a murder/robbery investigation, might lead to some different conclusions.
