U2 has always been a prime example of a band that sounds just as good, or even better live, as their recorded versions. If the chance ever presents itself please go see them. It will be a concert you won't soon forget! 🦋
"Didn't amaze me" Dude are you like deaf? This song is giving me chills since i was 10 years old. And I don't even primarily listen to this type of music. The instrumentation here just grabs my soul.
A rare band that wasn’t into drugs (except the bass player smoked weed) and they were quite religious. A lot of churches study their lyrics. They got together in school when the drummer was 14 and none of them knew how to play their instruments. Bono and his wife raised a ton of money after visiting Africa and witnessed the starving children. Speaking of his wife, Bono wrote a song for her called “All I Want Is You” and that song done live at Slane Castle in 2001 leads into “Where the Streets Have No Name”….fantastic transition! 🙌🏼🔥👍🏽 please react to both. 👏🏼👏🏼 PS. - Their Superbowl halftime performance is considered one of the best ( and not lip synced).
There's genius on all of their albums, but "Joshua Tree," "Rattle & Hum," and "Achtung Baby" are amazing from start to finish. Welcome to this trip!! 🙂❤
1987 U2 Concert, Joshua Tree Tour, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium...What a Fantastic concert!!, U2 was/is one of my all time favorite group ever(along with Queen, Depeche Mode, Chicago, Beatles, etc ) U2, Bon Jovi & Depeche Mode sounds are the classic 80's. you just dont know how influential & great U2 was to us youngsters during that time! Loved MJ, he will always be the king of pop, but U2 was politically active all around the world with their music and we all appreciated their messages with their songs, music and voices. Some of their songs, ie. "Sunday Bloody Sunday", a very popular song, was about 26 killed in Northern Ireland in 1972. Their protest songs were very popular and messages of peace was appreciated by many of us. All of us, a huge crowd, were singing this song as we were leaving the stadium, "With or Without You"!!! Such a Fabulous, Great atmosphere, such a vibe!! Will never forget this experience!❤
U2. Live performances are All Together Amazing. I've seen them 9 times. Must see U2 @ "Live Aid" performing Sunday Bloody Sunday & Bad. One word "Powerful", Must See
He should follow your lead. From their (World) debut album BOY. Just learned about "Three" EP, with 3 songs, but it was only released in Ireland in 1979.
This song came out in 1987; I was at their concert in Oakland that year, it was at the stadium where the Raiders played. Live, they were amazing; they played for about three hours. My friends and I were up in the stands, but after we went down into the field; it had been completely packed, we looked at the ground and the people had been moving so much that all of the grass on the whole field had been broken down into just a green paste, you couldn't see a blade of grass. They sounded as good or better live than on recordings; these guys are the real deal rock stars.
I love U2's early albums best. My favorite song is :Two Hearts Beat As One," from the album called "War." Every song on that album is incredible. Pick any one and fly!!!
Nice reaction to a beautiful song. I saw them at the Sphere last month, it had been 20 years since I last saw them. There is nothing like U2 live. Check out "Pride" "Bad" "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" :Where the Streets Have No Name" and "One" to name a few - Lots of live performance videos to choose from but "Bad" at Live Aid is pretty spectacular.
Different people like different eras of U2 and I think that preference is based mostly on how old the person was when they first tuned in. A 90's kid is going to love 90's era U2 best. I have personally loved all of the eras. You will get lots of people telling you this is good but this other is trash etc. I suggest you just listen to as much as you can and make up your own mind because everyone is different. My three favorite albums of theirs are Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. But those are just my favorites. I love songs from across their whole discography. I haven't met a U2 song I didn't love. This is a DEEP rabbit hole you've discovered and they are still making music today 🥰 My current favorite song of the week is A Sort Of Homecoming from Unforgettable Fire. Oh and if someone has you do Where the Streets Have No Name, be sure to watch the audio only video first then maybe the official music video later. The official music video is amazing, but it cuts out the intro and outro of the song which are just epic. That song is like flying, but you miss half the experience without the full intro and outro.
They have such a great catalog and it evolves over time. If you want to check out some of the earlier stuff to see how they got noticed, and they were hits on progressive radio at the time, check out Sunday Bloody Sunday, and, New Year's Day.
I am so happy I found this review. Your first time exploring U2 and I look forward to seeing your reactions to your journey into U2. I m lucky enough to have been alive and enjoyed them from their start and have seen them live in small venues when they first started to stadiums and will see them in late January at The Sphere in LV. If you want a huge introduction to them to see what they are all about they are amazing live. Check out the video of the songs "All I Want is You" and "Where the Streets Have no Name" at Slane Castle. This video will tell you all you need to know as the transition between songs will give you goosebumps. My favorite song by them is "Bad" and the live version that was on the movie "Rattle and Hum" is truly amazing but so is the live version at Live Aid concert where Bono saves a few women who were being crushed by the crowd pushing. Their catalog is amazing from the early days with "Pride (In the Name of Love)", "New Years Days", Sunday Bloody Sunday" to some of their other hits like "With or Without You" that you just reviewed to "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", "One" and I can go on and on... I look forward to joining you on this journey.
At times during a live performance they add another verse at the end and extend it and it really really fits the song.. that is the one thing that I wish they did was release a studio version where they just keep going at the end instead of fading out. Great reaction!
Great tune, but go back and start with the early albums and see the progression of the band. I was lucky to see them on their first American tour at the Pardise club in Boston
One Tree Hill, Discothèque, Please, Exit, All Because Of You, Electric Co, Every Breaking Wave, Ordinary Love, Out Of Control, Kite, Walk On. Just a handful of U2's great songs from across their career that will highlight how diverse their catalog is. Discothèque and Exit for example. Discothèque is an upbeat, borderline techno tune while Exit is a gritty hard rock song.
'One' or 'Bad' both recorded and live would demonstrate exactly what this band is about. From 'The Joshua tree' album 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for' and the live version on 'Rattle and hum' is spine chilling.
The lyrics of the song are not dark, but honest in the sense that there can be arguments in a relationship, you can have feelings that make you think, but the decision to live together is not a change. The dynamics of a relationship can include many experiences, which makes us adults and not children in an emotional sense. This song is a metaphor.
Until The End Of The World/New Years Day (ZOOTV Sydney) and All I Want Is You/Streets Have No Name (Slane Castle) are a great introduction to them live.
I got to see them at the Sphere on opening night in September. They were terrific! Check out Where the Streets Have No Name or Sunday Bloody next. Sunday
Best reaction on UA-cam as always!!!! U2 are amazing, Sunday Bloody Sunday & New Years Day, my 2 favorites, I remember playing those 2 continually while pulling an all-nighter in college. Damn we did some fvcked up shit, but would go back to that time if could choose. Sorry gr8 reaction!!!
A brilliant song with profound content, a little wisdom for your own life. It's about the familiarity/reliability/home=WITH and the glittering temptation=WITHOUT in a partnership, in short, about how much and what freedom you give each other in a well-functioning partnership. I haven't been to any of Bono's book readings and - since the Beatles broke up when I was a teenager - I refused to find out too much about the biography; sometimes disturbs when listening to music later. In a U2 interview I read that the familiar, reliable home or temptation on the U2 tours was mentioned in this context Unfortunately, I don't know of any other U2 song that has such a brilliantly atmospheric structure. However, ONE and SOMETIMES YOU CAN'T MAKE IT ON YOUR OWN are also little “wisdom for life”. Luckily, there are also completely different popular U2 sites, as well as lesser-known gems like KITE and MIRACLE DRUG with moving backgrounds. Great first choice💛, please keep going!!!
Oh, and BAD (Rattle And Hum) is a must. I know many will suggest their Live Aid performance and it is great. But for me the best version is the Rattle And Hum performance.
I know you like it when bands keep their original members. Well, U2 were a high school band back in the 70's and have remained with the same guys ever since. If yiou're looking for another song to listen to, maybe try Pride (in threname of love), next.
Soooooo jealous you got to see them there. I've seen them five times with my favorite being at MSG the night GaGa joined them on stage. Even at this stage of their career, your experience in Vegas, at that venue, has to be the best.
Might I suggest you dig into their older live music like Sunday Bloody Sunday or Live Aid performances. You'll be blown away. One of the best live bands out there. 😁
the first song i heard of U2 was new year's day in 83 from their war album. the joshua tree was my first album and my fav partly cause how good it is partly cause of being a teen and just starting to buy my own music. maybe you prefer something with more to say, historic or political? try sunday bloody sunday pride(in the name of love) one.the U2 og or the version ft masy j blige? have the subtitles on for all songs so you don't miss anything.
There's at least one incredible live version - wish I could tell you which one. But another live, LIVE one is of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday", I think from an Arizona show. Dramatic!
The big climax is in the middle, then they deliberately bring it down for the end. The song leaves you hanging a little bit on purpose, gives you no closure. Thematically fitting.
You should check out Pride(In the name of love) or One as a good representation of U2, but generally can’t go wrong with them, especially the whole Joshua Tree album
One example of a most successful album that though certainly excellent is not to my ears their very best. I suggest you have a try at some of their former hits like Bad, Pride, or even The Unforgettable Fire (the title song on the album).
Joshua Tree is a great album. I listened to it on cassette so much I wore it out. This and Unforgettable Fire are their 2 best IMO. Much of their early material is excellent. After Joshua Tree I like their stuff less but it's still generally pretty good.
Go back to their early albums, TRUST ME, so you can see how they evolved musically & production wise. The early stuff has RAW voiced young BONO & very faith heavy vs later stuff, all good but definitely different. *Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire.* Then, The Joshua Tree, Rattle & Hum, Acthung Baby, etc.. Some artists pays to start from the beginning.
Got to be honest with you. I’ve been watching your channel for months now, so I know you have heard a bunch of older songs before. So I’m shocked you were not familiar with this song…… I mean this was a hugely popular song.
Back when U2 wasn't so worried about writing "good" songs. Half of the appeal to early U2 was this feeling that they were barely good enough to keep the songs from flying off the rails. But the songs still worked. This is even one of their more polished songs from this time, but it's still musically sloppy - in a good way. I miss that.
U2 has great music but Bono is so full of himself. I met him and he was beyond rude. To watch him speak is to see someone who believes they can walk on water. Bloody Sunday is one of their best videos. Filmed at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado.
I like to think of U2 as the opposite of let's say ACDC no disrespect of ACDC, I love them but, every U2 album sounds totally different whereas every ACDC album sounds the same.
Your not very knowledgable when it comes to music and why U2 swept the grammys that year. Your statements about every song on that jackso album are way off, not very bright are we , everything on most Jackson albums are all written by other people !!!! What did he himself actually WRITE , not one hit. U2 wrote all there songs plus U2 songs are very powerful just read the lyrics. Jackson was singing a lot about love, crap like that, he never took chances with subject matter, LOOK at U2 WAR , CIVIL RIGHTS, CORRUPTION ETC. STUFF THAT MADE YOU THINK. YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT LOL.
This man has made it very clear he is ignorant and new to a lot of artists and is learning so your attack is unwarranted. Michael sung about a lot of 'subject matter' before Bono was even born...almost, MJ started in 1964, U2 in 1976, that's a 12 year lead. The Jackson 5 "Can You Feel It" (1980)(MJ is a co-writer) is one subject matter song. BTW 'Love' is indeed a subject matter that effects EVERY human ever, so it is KING of subject matters, Mr. Smarty 🤓Snarky Pants. Let's not nitpick about who wrote what, a lot of great artist did covers, had writers, or took from other's music to make their own. You sound like a MJ hater or deranged Prince fan.😆(I love Prince & MJ equally) ....or racist🧐(White Irish vs Black American)? *Strap in;* Man in The Mirror(1987) Beat it** Billie Jean** (false accusations on men by women) Earth Song** Black or White They Don't Care About Us** Wanna Be Startin' Something** (Gossip) Jam Is It Scary Scream We've Had Enough Money** Tabloid Junkie Threatened Shout Heal The World** There Must Be More To Life Than This (unreleased bonus, Freddie Mercury on piano, also a duet of them both, find it on YT) .....just to name a few. ** Are songs MJ wrote entirely by himself. There are many others not on this list. Every other song, in a catalog of more than 150 songs, he CO-WROTE on. He also wrote for others, I found 7 songs at minimum. Wiki has "Songs written by Michael Jackson" leads to 118 songs written or co-written by MJ. MJ established Heal The World Foundation and estimated donations of $500 million not adjusted for inflation during his life, how's that for subject matter? "Put your money where your mouth is". Just look up his Wiki bio, I can't fit all his accomplishments on 'subject' matter here. Lastly it's *You're not Your. You're not very knowledgeable about everything you wrote, the English language and YOUR grammar is faulty. YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT LOL. 🎤💧
U2 has always been a prime example of a band that sounds just as good, or even better live, as their recorded versions. If the chance ever presents itself please go see them. It will be a concert you won't soon forget! 🦋
My favorite concert behind Pink Floyd!
They have so many great songs. Would love to see you react to Where the Streets Have no Name. And the video is such fun!
Even better than the real thing!
"Didn't amaze me" Dude are you like deaf? This song is giving me chills since i was 10 years old. And I don't even primarily listen to this type of music. The instrumentation here just grabs my soul.

This is such a great song and I loved every second of your reaction. That line “nothing to win and nothing left to lose” just guts me.
No one has ever produced guitar sounds like The Edge. If those don't amaze you, I don't know what would.
PS He sings a mean backup vocal, too!

Their first hit in the States was ‘I Will Follow’. You should try that one. It’s upbeat.
He should follow your lead.
From their (World) debut album BOY.
Just learned about "Three" EP, with 3 songs, but it was only released in Ireland in 1979.
My favorite U2 jam. They captured a mood here. ❤
until the end of the world is the pinnacle of u2 - its their greatest studio song and the best live song on tour.
This song came out in 1987; I was at their concert in Oakland that year, it was at the stadium where the Raiders played. Live, they were amazing; they played for about three hours. No question about it, Sunday bloody Sunday live at red rocks. OR "bad" from live aid. Those two will offer you the best introduction to U2.
Nice reaction to a beautiful song. I saw them at the Sphere last month, it had been 20 years since I last saw them. There is nothing like U2 live. Joshua Tree ....1987....what an album....what a song....very good choice

Thank you for your work in producing these fine reactions Sir!
With Or Without You (live Boston 2001) is well worth your time. Bono brings a fan on stage and the lay together as he sings this song.

I have loved U2 since i was a kid (am 53 now), loved this song when it came out and yet did NOT know this was them. LOL.

Great call! The early stuff is amazing
pronounced "Bah-no". Short for "Bono Vox", a nickname he was given in his teens which is Latin for "Good voice"
So much good U2. The Edge is perfection.
His guitar is so distinctive. If I'm changing channels and hear his guitar, I stop. Guess you could say I found what I was looking for! lol
Adam's bass line drives the song
The Joshua Tree is the best album of the 80's if not of the modern rock music
One Tree Hill, Discothèque, Please, Exit, All Because Of You, Electric Co, Every Breaking Wave, Ordinary Love, Out Of Control, Kite, Walk On. Just a handful of U2's great songs from across their career that will highlight how diverse their catalog is. Discothèque and Exit for example.
Sunday
Joshua Tree was THE album to have when it came out.
This song was a VIBE back then, compared to everything else out, you had to be there.
He needs to listen to it without the pausing. Breaks the flow.
Bullet the Blue Sky is a great song by U2.
In a U2 interview I read that the familiar, reliable home or temptation on the U2 tours was mentioned in this context
Unfortunately, I don't know of any other U2 song that has such a brilliantly atmospheric structure.
Also like I still haven’t found what I’m looking for from them

Listen to Pride. Definitely.
You should watch this band live, they were at live aid
You can't listen to U2 without base! Adam Clapton is a pillar for U2!
The song is about the band itself
Might I suggest you dig into their older live music like Sunday Bloody Sunday or Live Aid performances. You'll be blown away. One of the best live bands out there. 😁
the first song i heard of U2 was new year's day in 83 from their war album.
the joshua tree was my first album and my fav partly cause how good it is partly cause of being a teen and just starting to buy my own music.
maybe you prefer something with more to say, historic or political?
try sunday bloody sunday

have the subtitles on for all songs so you don't miss anything.
There's at least one incredible live version - wish I could tell you which one. But another live, LIVE one is of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday", I think from an Arizona show. Dramatic!
listen to ONE by them and then listen to the Mary J Blige with u2. Both are awesome

Personally, I think they have way better songs than this one. Maybe start with Sunday Bloody Sunday.
This band was so bad, the entire crowd just mingled, talking, drinking, etc.
What do you mean?
They were just in really bad form. So much so, the crowd ignored them.
@@jamesscura7122 you saw them live?
I like you dude.
