i ate factor foods and it gave me downs syndrome, no joke
Volume 2 should include Virgos Merlot & Fono, 2 bands that just barely missed blowing up.
@@BaritonePapilol noooooo
Hearing Finn say "Alright people!" Always makes my day a little bit better
Yup...gonna laugh and maybe even discover new stuff..win and win
I second this. I was going to kill myself today but then this video dropped and I was like… “Fuck it, let’s see who he picked.”
Dam bruh that got dark fast..
Middle school teacher energy! I dig it 👈🤜
It's the Finn McKenty version of Bill Burr's "HOW AH YA?"
I’m so excited for that new job for a cowboy album that’s definitely coming I swear
Ruination and genesis are both amazing albums
That scream in Entombment is iconic! What kind of monster gives us the lead up and not the scream??
Sun eater is a masterpiece
@@_ericc.Agreed. Those are my fav JFAC albums and I still listen to them regularly.
they are serpent of gnosis now
Job for a cowboy are the best. Sun eater is a masterpiece. They have some of the most vicious riffs on genesis and ruination. Jfoc keeps getting better and better.
What's the definition of "underrated"? Everyone I know listened to JfaC like they deserve to be appreciated, but it's not crazy. They were about as popular as the genera in general. They're what I think of as "kinda appropriately rated".
@@SplinterCell521agreed
@@SplinterCell521 we like what we like
Sun Eater is in that tier of masterpiece albums. Idk what dude is talking about "its boring". I can tell this guy sits on the toilet facing the wall to pee.
@@scummymulisha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was into the style of a lot of these bands, but still found them way too late and it kills me every day. Something Corporate and Forever the Sickest Kids both have great songs and I really wish they got bigger. Motion City Soundtrack I did know and always loved and I will always push them to new people. I love their style of songwriting. LGUAD is still so brilliant, man. The absolute embodiment of someone told to stop listening to sad songs all day. So they wrapped their gut-wrenching lyrics in upbeat tunes and the fact it works is amazing. They deserve so much more love.
Motion city soundtrack is incredible
Absolutely love MCST, such an underrated band, great lyrics, great hooks, super catchy and emotionally varied
Sun of nihility was a master piece
Discovered Something Corporate in college, Konstantine stuck a chord in my heart.
FTSK is kinda back. I think they’re testing the waters. I saw them last month at So What Fest. They played the main stage and still sound amazing.
WWWY festival 2025 probably
I watched some videos from their so what set and wow they still have it! The 3 singers thing always stood out to me
I was in a hardcore band along time ago and we used to use the party in your bedroom song as our intro music to our set every show 😂 good times
Motion City Soundtrack holds the fuck up.
Ive been a fan of Motion City Soundtrack since before their debut album dropped, one of my all time favorites. Great song writing paired with hook laden music. Their first 4 albums are phenomenal.
great band, some seriously deep but amazing lyrics also
Never understood how they didn't become bigger.
I've gotta tell you, the Long Island Punk/emo scene LOVED Something Corporate. I'm actually surprised to see them on this list. Jack's Mannequin was underrated around us and the new solo stuff Andrew is doing basically no one knows about even though I hype his stuff up to everyone I meet.
Grew up on LI, my first thought seeing this video was “who didn’t listen to Something Corporate”
Honestly never heard of them until this years WWWY lineup, now they’re high on the must catch list
@@zdoggzero6595 I highly recommend Andrew's first solo album called "Andrew McMahon in the wilderness". It's like 80's new wave meets modern emo. I think it's incredible.
@@ceejluige4816 I did a deep dive into all his other projects, they’re all pretty solid
Yeah I think it’s bizarre to see them on this list. They used to get mentioned in the teen magazines back then too ~ pretty mainstream. I always thought Drive Thru Records bands had decently large fan bases.
JfaC gives me the idea that they knew exactly what they were doing with their first EP, just make a huge splash with deathcore, then hard pivot to straight death metal, eventually into progressive death metal. I think they only got better with time.
Only watching this for the JFAC love. Hopefully we’ll see an Agoraphobic Nosebleed video soon!
I love Forever the Sickest kids! Was jamming out to them at emo nite last month. I Did a tik tok driving home from work jamming out to she’s a lady.
I have a real soft spot for Head Automatica.
It´s great that you are bringing back this format! I was missing your "Why did not they get bigger" videos :)
I know they still have relatively good numbers on Spotify, but I think Relient K should’ve been way bigger. Just listened to Mmhmm for the first time in a while and some of those songs are so. fucking. good
Agreed! I So Hate Consequences is such a banger
@@FrankReynolds182 exactly the song I was thinking of lol
S tier songwriters completely swept under the rug purely because of their Christian undertones. They deserved to be as big as any of the 2000s pop punk bands for sure
@@aray493 completely agree and they weren’t even preachy either, just had positive messages with some Jesus sprinkled in
Agreed 100 percent dog. Another one I really loved on that album was life after death and taxes part 2, I believe was the full name of it.
The first time I heard of something corporate was back in 2003 when they played their song space on fuse tv along with lostprophets, afi, linkin park, the darkness, etc.
Motion City Soundtrack still sounding AMAZING live in 2023
100% agree!!!! They are sick!!!!
I was caught so off guard by you playing the clip of the kids in school moshing to JFAC. It actually happened at my highschool back in 2011 I believe and 2 of the guys are brothers and the the other is a mutual friend, I knew all of them and a friend of mine recorded it and put it on her tumblr and the rest is history.
JFAC had such a big style change because the revolving door of members. Davey is the only original member. I think Charn is playing country now
Country music eh? Some might say that's a job for a cowboy...
I was in the scene from about 2000-07 and fell out of it after college and needed a change. Thanks for sharing bands that I missed and no doubt would have loved had I known them then. This Forever Sickest Kids album is really good.
Hell yeah Finn, I'm so stoked you included motion city soundtrack they're so underrated and oh so dark lol
Great hit of nostalgia Finn, thanks for creating! We toured with Cash Cash and Cobra Starship back in 2009. they were really good guys who wrote killer catchy songs. Party in your bedroom was with Sam Hollander i think. i do remember JP saying he listened to a good amount of Madonna which may explain that sound they went for. Great to see they are still killin' it
I still go back and listen to something corporate lol. I always loved the song “ I woke up in a car”
Thank you, I was trying to remember "I woke up in a car" by something corporate for months...
dude i loved your bands that should have been bigger series cause i learned shit i didnt know, glad to see its revamped
Motion city soundtrack has been at on the weekly Playlist for well over a decade since i first heard them
More of these videos please!
Job For A Cowboy is my go to gym song,I knew it sounded so familiar when i rediscovered but now i remember seeing it back in the early 00"s
Great video topic fella 😉😃😃
If you're doing this series...you HAVE to include Finch, their Say Hello to Sunshine album specifically. It had all the proggy mathcore stuff in post-hardcore before bands like DGD got popular but the critics TRASHED it. It came out too early honestly.
Suuuuuuuch an underrated album
I second that, they evolved in mostly cool ways w each album too
What it is to Burn is such a great post hardcore
Album
When I first heard Cash Cash "Party In Your Bedroom" I thought he said "There's a lot of Taco Bell to" instead of "There's a lot of talk about you" 😂. That song is so great. I still listen to it on occasion.
Everything Is Alright is a great description of Anxiety and OCD
Good stuff..mental health awareness core 😂
Also, I was surprised you cut out right before that gnarly pig squeal in "Entombment of a Machine " haha
I definitely remember the pig squeal girl and a job for a cowboy. Love the video sm
Saw one of the Jack Mannequin dudes at a local show in Richmond a few nights ago!
I always loved Forever the Sickest Kids, always wondered why almost no one knew about them back then :(
My Ticket Home would have been huge now if they stuck around. So many bands do their sound now it's shocking. I'm glad their vocalist is at least doing stuff in his band Headcave
MTH pioneered that alt metal/shoegaze/grunge revival sound every band is channeling now.
You should do a full video about FTSK. Love them too
These are a bit off genre/topic, but I love em:
face to face
seaweed
la peche
IRON CHIC (Srsly fuzkin slaps and they're largely unknown, singalong pub core, like dropkick but way better)
caskets
Moose blood
Mr kitty
Songs: dawn of the dead, drug like
We're about the same age Finn so I'd love your take on any of em some may be right in your wheelhouse...and btw you've hipped me to a buncha cool stufff through ur vids so a big ole sloppy thanks for that!!
This is too damn fun, and if even one person checks ans digs one of these totally worth it:
Dj shadow
Bayside
Operator
Disco ensemble
Sugarcult...well known but underrated imo
Middle class rut (cubicle hell core)
Rehab (double wide core)
Failure
The pains of being pure at heart
Lucero
Wax
Reggie and the full effect
The timing of this video is insane bcuz I just started re listening to forever the sickest kids.
I saw Job For A Cowboy twice!
Also I def thought you were going to say Hold Me Down was the darkest MCS song!
Man… Motion City Soundtrack was phenomenal! Think of their sounding like the cover of Barbie. Happy. Having fun! But internally the lyrics: Oppenheimer. Dark, heart bombing lyrics.
Gah.. so good.
Seen them a couple years ago and i seen justin pierre 4 years ago. So goddamn good
siempre me pregunté por qué miss may i nunca llego mas lejos, tenian carisma y canciones de sobra
I’ve seen them live. They were awesome!
the myspace era was the golden age of internet. it'll never be that good again :(
My childhood best friend introduced me to Motion City Soundtrack when we were in like middle school (I listened to the CD of theirs that she burned for me on repeat for quite a while) and I always think of them as "that band from my hometown". My high school math teacher even had a couple stories about their lead singer from when he first started teaching at the school that were pretty neat.
That’s awesome. They still tour! Love those guys.
I remember asking for the underdog alma mater cd for christmas forever ago. And when i got it I drove my parents crazy. Still love forever the sickest kids.
I bought the Forever Sickest Kids cd on Day 1 because I was so hyped and there was no easy way to hear or download the record. Still a great record.
Job for a cowboy played at a bunch of festivals and gwar, slayer, other metal bands I used to see..when that newer style of metal camd out ..then ppl started calling it death core and metal core and it was a ton of them.i liked some of it and it was good rockstar festival bands
Saw job for a cowboy headline a tour over Whitechapel and cattle decapitation show was nuts
Absolutely loved 4TSK - So glad I was able to see them when they hit up Slam Dunk in the UK
I'll always love Motion City Soundtrack. My ex introduced me to them and we even went and saw them on their farewell tour before the reunited again. Unfortunately my ex took her life, but I still listen to them no matter how sad it makes me because it reminds me of her.
Love love absolutely love forever sickest kids!!!
Something Corporate only released two full-length albums and a lot of those two albums (Especially the first one, Leaving Through the Window) are just fantastic. I think had they stayed together for one more album they would have started to gain more traction.
Motion City soundtrack is so good. The words are so sad the music is so beautiful.
Broken Heart is from Even if it Kills Me ,Motion City Soundtrack album. Written mostly about getting sober. Its a fun album, but a hard listen. "The Conversation" hits me fucking hard
God I forgot about that Cash Cash song. My friends and I used to be so into all those neon pop punk bands. There’s so much to be said about that scene. So many forgotten bands (Teen Hearts, Racing Kites, Danger Radio, Anarbor, Call the Cops, A Rocket to the Moon, I could go on)
Call The Cops❤❤❤
I'd add Elliot Minor to this list. Saw them when they were VERY new and before they got shat on and bottled at Download. They never got big, but their 1st album is pretty good still! They had a good pop-punk sound and then cut in classical strings... Here we are 15 years later and I'm still a fan
something corporate was so amazing. if you were a teen girl and NOT obsessed with “konstantine,” then what were you even doing? lol. and now he tours as andrew mcmahon in the wilderness, and he’s great live and plays some old soco and jack’s mannequin songs..
motion city soundtrack… i first saw them opening for all-american rejects back in 2005. i have seen them 4x since then, and i’ve met the lead singer.. and i have some of the lyrics tattooed on me. one of my favorite bands ever.. so much great shit from them.. shit i really vibed with, and sadly still vibe with too much sometimes. ha. love them though..
I remember seeing job open for in flames and megadeth in Denver in 08’.
Never a big fan of their music, but love the energy of their show.
Forever The Sickest Kids did play a small part in a medley at the Superbowl. Not that it helped them any, but hey, lol.
really?
Are you familiar with the band VCTMS out of Chicago? Independent Nu-metalcore band that will be releasing their 5th album in October. They have features from a bunch of different people including Darius from Spite and Frankie from Emmure....I bet it would make a great video if you could get an interview with either the vocalist (John Matalone) or drummer (Meredith Henderson)
The “They look Canadian” chat message when Justin pierre came on screen😂
My high school English teacher used to share the gif version of the scene kids moshing and said me, my twin sister and my best friend looked just like those kids. I hope those scene kids are doing well lol
That basically was my friends and I in high school. We’d even mosh at lunch to that song behind the gym. Haha gooooodddd times
Also In Dying Arms were a great deathcore band (at least back in 2010s) they played very well, the vocals were on point and they should've been HUGE.
Ten years later i listened to them and realized their lyrics were very incely. I know why they didn't blow up 😂
motion city soundtrack separate video when??👉🏻👈🏻😩
Thanks for bringing back "bands that should have been bigger" series!!😊
Guess we’ll see if JFACB has the old school deathcore style in the new album, and considering they have Navene Koperweis on drums and he’s been perfecting his heel-toe, it’s possible they bring it back. But honestly I loved every album they made and what style they made it in, and I’ll love the new album too.
No Idea If I'm The Only One, But There Are Several 2000's Kids/2010's Kids Who Know Forever The Sickest Kids For Having A Song For The End Credits For The Original Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Movie.
Motion City Soundtrack also had an amazing drummer. Underrated band for sure
Hell yeah! Claudio Rivera!!! He was with Saves The Day also! Love him 👍
100% Motion City and Something Corporate/Andrew McMahon ❤❤❤ love love love ❤️❤️❤️
Dude so crazy you talking about something corporate and seeing that lead singer play panio triggered some deep memory of a song from the 2010s by jacks Mannequin so i looked up jacks mannequin and found out the lead singer was the lead singer from something corporate.
1:13 nice Naruto run
lol I remember Cash Cash playing the Rutgers fest on “the sounds of New Jersey” stage with Amy Lee(Ailee Kpop) and Jessi were there singing what I guess were demos as they sang in English except one song Jessi sang in Korean. It was really odd to see people getting planted in front of you, worked out both are big time in Korea and New Jersey.
you talking about motion city soundtrack is how i feel about la dispute. i love them but seriously can’t let myself listen to them lol
I'm so excited
I actually like JOBFORACOWBOY's fourth studio album, Sun Eater. At first I didn't like it like most fans and only really liked two songs (The Synthetic Sea and Buried Monuments) but after listening to and absorbing many technical death metal bands over the years like Blood Incantation, Rings of Saturn, Arsis, The Faceless, Revocation and my personal favorite Death (especially their later stuff, Human and onward), it grew on me. JFAC as well as The Red Chord are still one of my favorite deathcore/deathcore adjacent bands of all times.
I'd love to see a video from you doing a deeper dive on the "emocore", post hardcore, "screamo"/"skramz", "emoviolence" (quotations really make sense when using some of these ridiculous genre names) stuff from the mid to late 90's through the early 00's. Bands like Orchid, Jeromes Dream, Saetia, Page 99, Majority Rule and the like. Labels like Ebullition, Clean Plate, Level Plane, Magic Bullet and Robotic Empire we putting out "the soundtrack of my life" in my late teens. The predecessor bands like Swing Kids, Antioch Arrow, Indian Summer and Heroin would be cool to hear about as well.
Yep I've mentioned that stuff in a few videos!
@@FinnMckentyPRMBA I know, but I want a whole video about it! Validate me, dad! 🤣
No thanks. Hate that stuff for the most part and the fans are brutally autistic
Job For a Cowboy was really big in my highschool when the Doom EP came out. Then everyone forgot about them.
Finn, Cash Cash used to be called The Consequence and were a fully fledged pop-punk rock band. You can find their entire discography online. It’s actually pretty good
Also, party in your bedroom is about a camgirl lol, making the joke funnier
FTSK and JFAC were big back in the days. If I'm not mistake JFAC was already playing mainstages in huge european festival when Genesis just came out. And FTSK was popular here that they even sounded in the local radio and magazines (i live in Peru)
@!#?@! By Motion City Soundtrack is my jam. I was introduced to them way too late (a few years ago) and their entire catalog is awesome.
While watching Motion City Soundtrack at Warped Tour, in either ‘05 or ‘06, someone threw a glass bottle up in the air that hit me in the forehead and I had to go hang out in the VIP shaded area for a while while waiting for the medics to come look at me. I was bleeding but I didn’t need stitches thankfully.
I genuinely love FTSK and JFAC. JFAC and Cattle Decapitation are my favorite death metal bands of all time. Before anyone says that they're deathcore, I feel like that only applies to their first album, then everything after is just straight death metal. I also really like the groove in Sun Of Nihility, which I only mention since you played it. The bass guitar goes so hard in that song to me.
I've said it too, FTSK underdog album was incredible. Every song on it was a banger and so underrated
Can’t believe something corporate never blew up. Leaving through the window is phenomenal. They crushed at WWWY a couple weeks ago too.
I still listen to Motion City Soundtrack all the time.
I dig the cerebral incubation shirt finn 🤘🤘
Talk more about Eighteen Visions.
They’re back and still get overlooked
Something Corporate is cool but Jack's Mannequin will always be amazing
Most hilarious and epic part of JM is that Tommy Lee from Motley Crue played drums on the first two (or more) albums lol.
I saw Job For A Cowboy in 2007 at SOTU. I slept through the whole set.
huge huge fan of the Motion, one of the best, god tier shit.
My wife is obsessed with something corporate and motion city soundtrack.
I saw Something Corporate and Motion City Soundtrack several times here in Kansas and also in Oklahoma. Are we G-rated mopes ? Lol Another fun video!
lmao perfect description of Motion City Soundtrack music
I always thought Party in your bedroom was about a cam girl. Which is crazy because i dont recall 2007 being that big of a cam girl era unless i just never ventured into that part of the internet back then. I do remember Cash Cash very well tho, saw them with Family force 5, breathe Carolina and polar bear club
