The best thing about Roush has been they aren't overzealous with their designs and reworks. They've always made their vehicles look more like inhouse upgrades, than aftermarket debauchery. The price is very reasonable even for 2004 and the exclusivity.
I remember when the Focus hit the roads and it defiantly hit in New England. A lot of different ages drove it around. It was such a different car looks wise to anything out. One of the last cars with a hatch, coupe, seden & WAGON!

Man, how times have jaded us. These days, factory stock, fairly low level trucks make 400hp and run 13s in the 1/4, and top of the line trucks are making 700+hp. And 220 horsepower is less than most family sedans these days, a lot of them naturally aspirated. That said, I would LOVE to have that Focus. I still see a good bit of them on the road, twenty years later. Not on the scale that you see Corollas or Civics, but it's still a testament that they were pretty decent cars.
@@SportsMusicCars If the Roush F150 its a performance vehícle, why It has a 4 speed automatic instead of a 6 speed manual, seems like the big 3 loved to put 4 speed auto, into everything back in the day and I think 220hp for a turbo zetec, it's low considering the SVT focus being N/A it's faster, the Acura RSX type S does 0-100 in 6.2s while the DC5 Type R, like 5.6 the gearing means everything on 0-100 and 1/4 times.
Love these old MW reviews, but how the hell did they manage to get a slower 0-60 in a turbo ZX3 than the naturally-aspirated SVT ZX3 they tested earlier in the season?
With a trap of only 93, tells me either gearing is completely off or its not making 220 hp.. A 170 hp svt traps about 91-92, add 50 hp to only get 1 mph? Doesn't make sense at all..

I miss the days when companies offered a wide range of street-focused trucks. All you can get now is off road, off road extreme, and off road extreme high speed.
Ford still has the Roush 2wd super snake. Ram offers the TRX. They are still out there. The sports compacts tuner craze is all but gone now though. Companies gave up after crossovers came into the picture.

The real loss, IMO, is the disappearance of the affordable sport compact segment. There are only a few pricey options left. WRX, Civic Si, VW GTI. Hyundai is killing the Veloster N. No more Focus or Fiesta ST, no more Cobalt SS, no srt Neon or Dart, no Mazda Speed3, no Lancer EVO, etc. Auto companies are basically ensuring young enthusiasts no longer have any options for affordable fun cars. They want everyone to buy a $50k SUV.

Love both these vehicles. But wow these weak numbers, lol. Price on truck is great. Right now 47 to 52k for a v8 XL. Thats nuts. But 5.0 4x4 is good for mid 14s. How the hell that truck is 15s is beyond me. Same thing on focus. 15s thats crazy. My 220ish escort gt is eco boost beating LOW 14s. Sure its lighter. But 15s turbo 4 banger when neon srt existed.. . Yuck.

Roush version was so tacky and ricer, while Fords own euro look on the svt was way better looking

I got the Saleen Focus, it was extremely similar but had nitrous instead of a turbo and had forged internals.

That Roush F-150 didn’t make anywhere near the power they claim. I personally saw a stock Lightning run 13.3. 15.9 is balls slow, even for the day.

Stock lightnings on a good day might hit a 13.9. No way in hell a 13.3 is possible stock

Lol. Driver skill. Might be too much power and torque for the front wheels. Seems really slow though. My gti has 220 hp and does 0-60 under 6 seconds

I remember wanting one of those generation SVT Focuses with euro package so much. It was a nice sleeper alternative to a Civic Si.

This Focus looks like to our version which exists in Europe, the RS Cosworth. The RS Cosworth was one of the best rally car in the world.
