    I will definitely use my 105mm Z macro for the botanic gardens next summer. The 18-140mm DX lens is the most versatile lens for Travel IMO.

    I recently bought the black Z fc and I have to say I love the 16-50mm kit lens. It's so sharp for its size and weight, it's a must buy for me. I also got the 40mm 2.0 and I will get the 26mm 2.8. Love this camera to bits.

      I think the 16-50 is great as far as kit lenses go. But for the most part Nikon has usually made good kit lenses. I have a theory that a nice sharp kit lens is how you ensure that a new photographer goes out for their second shoot.

    • @TaipeiGeek
      @TaipeiGeek Рік тому +2

      @@ZWadePhoto The thing is, the 16-50 is extremely sharp and really compact. I also have the 18-140 G Lens and that one is really big and heavy and I compared the image quality: It's much worse. So I feel Nikon really has a winner here. If you compare similar kit lenses in Sony or Canon, non of them produces such good images like the 16-50. The 40mm 2.0 is my main lens, but the 16-50 is the ultimate travel lens for the Z fc in my opinion.

      I usually hate kit lenses, but the size, weight, sharpness relative to all things, makes this one great for me. I used it on a trip to Japan and it did quite well. Coming from full frame, it hits that 24-70mm type range just fine. I wish it was faster, but for the size, I cannot ask for more.

    Laughing, I do have one more for the silly category. The Z Fc mounted on the back of my 58MM Noct. The Noct is to heavy to carry around and I would be afraid of damaging the mount in the camera. The Z Fc does fit nicely in the of the pockets of the Noct case.

    Hmmm... I expected everything here except the last lens and the first lens. I find the 16-50 kit lens extremely usable and terribly underpriced as a kit lens for the quality it produces. The focal range is also very useful despite the very slow aperture. Though I prefer to pair the Z fc with manual AI/AI-S glass because the body feels as light as a feather and the F adapter plus the build quality of older glass add a much more needed heft to the experience IMO.

    For me the best one is 24mm 1.7,small, light, close focus, good sunstar. Also I rly like the 16-50 a bought it for penny as back up if I need something wider than 24mm. And man that lens deliver. I did comparison test with 16-80 2.8-4.0, which was the sharpest dx zoom lens in dslr times. 16-50 is sharper on sunny days with no aberration. 16-80 has softer edges but better contrast.

    I would say that as an DX user only, the 3 (currently) DX only lenses from Nikon are all phenomenal! Not the brightest, but the three together cost as much as that one 105mm macro that you love and offer a crazy amount of versatility and the sharpness is stellar for the measily little 20MP sensor. For street / travel photography, light weight and versatility are essential and those offer just that. I currently do not have the 18-140mm (I had the DSLR version before) but I have the other two along with a lightweight prime as my go-to for travel. APS-C has the weight and price advantage over full frame - getting all full frame lenses only for an APS-C, you are missing the point.

    • @ZWadePhoto
      @ZWadePhoto  Рік тому +3

      I disagree. In the absence of a wide selection of DX lenses, this about the only review I can do because I have all this stuff. And people have used Fx on Dx forever so it’s not totally crazy to demonstrate Fx lenses in the Zfc.
      I assure you this is a silly look at how crazy some of the lenses look on this small bodied camera. Not much more.

    I needed a wide zoom, so the 12-28 Powerzoom lens did the trick. Not a huge fan of the power zoom part honestly, but the focus ring can be customized, it has compact, clean internal zooming, and produces sharp, clear images with great color and no chromatic aberration at all. 😃

    Very helpful vid. Question: how about the 35mm f/1.8 on the nikon zfc? That would be equivalent to a bit over 50mm on full frame.
    It's about 40% heavier and 30% longer than the 50mm MC... What do you think about the quality of the 35mm f/1.8?

    This is going to make me sound like an insane person, but honestly the 23 mm 1.4 from the thinking artisan is just kind of crazy. It's just under $100, the aperture ring feels amazing, and the quality is beautiful for what it is. None of the native Z lenses from Nikon have an aperture ring and so you get the true manual experience from these guys. Sure! You're sacrificing autofocus and all that, but with focus peaking shooting at an equivalent of 35 mm isn't so bad. Nikon's 28 mm 2.8 SE, and the viltrox 14 mm 1.4 or maybe it was 13 mm I can't remember right now, those are my three go-tos. In addition, I have an adapted Helios 44-2 which shoots at a basically equivalent of 85 mm. The trademark swirly bokeh is not nearly as spellbinding as it is on full frame, but it's still quite lovely and you're getting that manual experience as well

    Got all lenses but the 28 and 105mm . You need to get 24-120 mm, best for content creation nice bokeh. I chose to get 100mm macro laowa it’s half the price. it’s made for crop sensor and full frame. I wanted a manual macro for stop motion. Close up using a follow focus gadget from edelkrone.
