- This Deal with it strategy that is explained is one that I took from MuteAce. Our goal isn't to fight minecart or anvil head on, but to take advantage of the lack of resources when he over uses these moves. How to beat minecart is very simple: Don't get hit.

How to deal with Kazuya electric? Or just what to do to get out of 0-death combos
Play a character whose tumble animation hurtbox shifts them to be very thin, such as Palutena. Of course, you can still die, but that makes it harder.

thanks for articulating this and pairing it with such a great video. these are all things we know but steve can be overwhelming. if we can make this a baseline for dealing with steve, i believe the meta can grow. i still believe in smash ultimate. i just think the online services are a complete loss. if you’re still here, thanks for reading ❤

Andrew, can you talk about how to beat characters with good options off of grabs? I know that is a bit broad, but I would appreciate it!

I said this before but Paul nair please (and similar nairs like Byleth and Pits if their the same or not)
What about it do you struggle with? Like if you shield it or you just struggle to avoid it?
@@andrewt8166 struggle to avoid it. A move like miencart I’m able to not get hit by or when I do I know how to avoid Steve’s next step to hit me. Those nair’s I’ll always get hit by and SDI’ing them to get the least amount of damage/ put myself in a safe situation is difficult
Andrew, thoughts on zss vs Steve MU? I’m convinced it’s -1 at BEST for zss.
My reasoning is that she can’t break blocks in a noncommittal way, she explodes from most of his moves at 80%, and we have to switch from hit and run to rush down…
I know I’m not the only one who has exploded from a random mine cart, and thought breh this MU IS DEFINITELY not even.
It’s definitely hard, and probs not winning but if you think of how hard we can make it for him to get meaningful hits we can definitely win. I could see even or slight losing due to zss being one of the best at safer mid-range pressure
@@andrewt8166 thanks for the reply bro, I definitely think it’s winnable, but I just don’t like it when people say zss clearly beats Steve. Even cloud loses the MU imo, since Spargo is literally the only cloud that can win against Acola. Both are winnable MUs, just not as big of a deficit as most of the cast.
@@chignonn So do you think Steve loses no matchups? I don’t understand how cloud could lose vs Steve when his only weakness in the matchup is “well just edgeguard him”, but after playing ultimate for so long, we all know it isn’t that simple. Cloud is much faster and has much more range than Steve. Also, the Sparg0 example isn’t valid because he is the only Cloud even relatively close to Acola’s level. EnhancedPV and Masashi are Eons behind Acola’s level. Btw, 1 tip is that plasma whip will go through blocks; like the hitbox literally goes through them.
@@chignonn Also, -1 at best is crazy. There is no way Steve has the potential to be as bad for Zss as characters like Roy and Wolf.

There's no way you can roll in after blocking it (4 frames vulnerable) and you can't JUMP out of it (3 frames) ??
Or maybe minecart can grab airborne characters ?
Try it! P sure because the cart is on top of your shield you just get caught by it, the jump squat is 3 frames but the time it takes to get airborne might be what makes you get caught, and if it’s spaced where you can jump they can still jump out and they are beneath you

@@xanander4693 Yeah, as a Steve main, I would say it is his worst matchup, because of Zair and Zss’ crazy good mobility.
