I went to Guitar Sanctuary last week and told my friend, "If they have a Strymon Iridium, I'm walking out with it." They had one, but that didn't happen. One of these Simplifiers was sitting next to it, so I plugged in and gave it a whirl. I couldn't BELIEVE the sound. The Iridium is nice because it has a reverb knob (like a real amp), but the Simplifier has an effects loop, whereas the Iridium doesn't. At a $100 cheaper, I bought this one instead. Been a game changer for my home recording :)

Great demo. I just got my Simplifier this week and it’s so intuitive and easy to use. Less time fiddling with digital menus and more time playing guitar! Truly incredible how much functionality they’ve packed into this tiny enclosure.
Nice sound Pete, it is good to hear this stuff from Humbolt and DSM which is from Chile, my country. BTW, I went to a Chris Cornell show in 2007 here in Santiago and your playing was superb, such a huge energy in this show, one of the best ever.
Great demo as always! I've had the Simplifier for about two weeks now and if anything I'm more and more impressed with it. The on/off axis stuff works really, really well. Great sounding - clean/mid gain amp tones direct to the board when I need them without it taking over my entire rig.
I love mine. Going from an HX Stomp/HX Effects back to a pedalboard with real pedals. But I wasn’t looking forward to lugging an amp around so I picked this one up. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever. Sounds awesome with a Double Barrel in front and a dd500 and rv500 in the loop.
I really enjoyed the solo you wrote and produced for your friend's song. Phrasing, feel, note choice, effects...everything was perfect. What a great musician/producer you are Pete !
Trying to finish off my ampless pedalboard and on the fence between this simplifier , an iridium, and one of those neunaber simulators. People have their gripes with each one, but this one seems to have the best trade offs and price point. Really looking to utilize the headphone out, and plugging straight into my interface. The auxiliary might come in handy running a pocket operator in for some rhythm to play to.
I prefer this to the Iridium (of which I am a very big fan). Very simple to use - spend most of my time on the MS Britt just breaking up. Played a very big outdoor dig with my pedalboard into FOH and FRFR as backline, it sounded killer! Very punchy, clear, excellent feel IMHO. But, now I've turned to Synergy for everything.
Dude, I had to pause in the beginning at 00:19 to get a closer look at your pedalboard! I'd love for you to do a video of that at some point if you don't mind! And that's some really beautiful tones you produced in this video!
I've had this on my board for a while now, maybe a year and a half to two years? It has been really nice especially for live use, it's super simple to set up and use - the only thing is I just can't ever seem to get it to sound quite right plugged directly into my desk interface... Again, on a stage going into the front of house I've never had issues, and even plugging my IEMs straight into the back of the pedal it sounds fantastic. It's just straight into the interface where I have problems, it seems to clip in the interface constantly - despite padding the input and turning the gain pretty low Not really sure what to do about that haha. I never really thought about trying to just have a loop from a looper pedal going constantly so I can just focus on tweaking everything and dialing it in like Pete was doing here, so I''ll do that until I find a setting on the interface and the pedal that is the sound I'm happy with
ME WANT!!! I've been wanting something like this for years. I've been putting cab sims ahead of stereo effects and never felt good about it. Yet, it's a pain to use two boxes and then have to twiddle twice the knobs. I even looked into hacking out a stereo box of my own, but there's no way I could have matched this. Great vid, Pete, as usual.
I love this device. I've seen many demo's of it and they all sound great to my ears. I had doubts. This was going to be a battle between the Simplifier and the Iridium. I think the Simplifier won (for what I seek anyway). Thanks for the demo. The music is great as always!!!
This thing looks and sounds incredible. Love the options they provide, plus it’s very easy to use/tweak. Would love to see this compared side by side to the Iridium.
I had both, the Simplifier lasted about 5 minutes before it went back in the box, the Iridium about 10 minutes. I also have the Two Notes le Clean, which is more realistic than them both, given that it has an actual valve circuit, and in my opinion it's the "starting" point for a pedal-board amp simulator. The issue with sim pedals is that really they still need to be in the circuit of a tube amp, either front or in the FX, to get the sound we're familiar with, and the solid state stuff doesn't cannot do that, particularly not with clean/spank sounds; high-gain and lead, you'll get away with it, but the the closer to clean you get the more you notice it's "just a pedal".
Been using the STRYMON Iridium, love the 2 balanced outs...no DI BOX. And an effects loop....hum need to get my hands on one and do an A/B. Thanks Pete great Demo
Best review / demo video out there! Thanks so much man. I was considering the Strymon Iridium as well as some other options, I landed on this and I think it's the perfect one for my board. Appreciate it
Another incredible demo. Wow. Great tones & insight. For me, I truly want to hear a *tube* overdrive pedal such as a Vahlbruch KALUNA or Kingsley JESTER....heck, even one a DEPT 10 Dual Drive, Dual Distortion or TUBE OVERDRIVE tube unit into this SIMPLIFIER unit. Analog high voltage *tube* overdrive into analog amp sim. Indeed.
Pete, nice! That was a little different demo vidya from you. I like how you smiled after showing us your solo for your friend’s tune. You should be proud. Sounds great!
I just found this product.... what about if I want to use koch pedaltone pre amp whit this? Does sound stay stable even if there's real tube preamp feed to this?
amazing product and demo! man would I buy this RIGHT NOW if I could =P wishlist'ed. no words for that track you added, made me very curious to hear the whole song, atmospheric and proggy and kind of melancholic, just the way I like it. thanks for that, I always learn so much listening and watching you play =D cheers!
I’ve been trying to confirm this. Thank you. So you can run it into the input or the effects return on an amp from what I understand and you flip a switch depending. Is that right? Also it retains its functionality and you can still sculpt the sound using the simplifier right?
@@sk8erdawg25 Not the OP but I own one. You’re correct, you can put it either place, but there isn’t a switch on the unit to differentiate where you’re using it. It does retain its character either place. I use mine as the preamp/cabinet sim on an ampless pedalboard setup to go straight into a PA. Works great for that too.
@@sk8erdawg25 Another very cool way of running this along with a combo tube amps is via Boss LS2. You can switch between preamps of tube amp and simplifier and use simplifier power section for recording and amp's power section for fun/practice. Basically can send anything anywhere :D
I'd like to hear how this sounds through an FRFR cab like a Headrush FRFR-108. That would be a handy, portable rig. It doesn't sound like a real amp to me, but I like the sound of it - great for clean, recorded tones. A good alternative, but not a replacement. Given the choice between this and any digital modeller I think I'd choose this, especially for the simplicity and size. I already use pedalboard sized amps, in a traditional pedals/amp/guitar cab fashion, so I'm already happy with what I'm using and just as portable (I weened myself off of tubes about 7 years ago now). Great playing as always Pete.

Really good demo of this box, Pete. Best one yet. I have a Two Notes Le Clean, but I think I gotta try this. As always, I love the “deep” chords you throw in.
Here is my question....please help. Can you run your pedalboard into the simplifier (4 cable) then into a Seymour Duncan power stage or pedal baby ending into a cab to get the amp sound you want? I mean is that a proper use for it?
Is it possible to add an impulse response pedal to an old line 6 flextone 3 amp? I actually like the amp because the effects (with the exception of the reverb sounds) are really great. I am running it direct at church and if I could just get a little better cab sound, I think I could make it work. However, I am not really sure where to put an IR pedal for something a situation like this.
I need an expert opinion on this. My unit has the 1x12 and 2x12 cab options behaving in opposite ways for the left and right channels. On the left channel, whenever I switch between these two settings, the 1x12 is consistently warmer and thicker, while on the right channel, the 1x12 is consistently thinner and brighter. This is regardless of all other settings. Is this correct behaviour?
It's come down to this or the Strymon Iridium for me. I'm interested, particularly, in how they would sit at the end of a pedal board to connect straight into a PA. Which unit works better for this purpose? Thanks Pete. Really appreciate your demos. 🤙🏼

I'm really torn. I do think a box that does IR's sounds better overall... But the Simplifiers feature set seems difficult to beat. The effects loop with a heaphone port that sends everything combined with also having a dry through... For someone who only does bedroom recordings and therefore doesnt have an actual amp/cab (and likely never will), that opens up loads of potential. But man... I can't help but shake the feeling I wouldnt be getting the best sound I could due to missing out on ir's....

I love finding new gear review videos of yours Pete. I love your playing and I can never get enough of your writing. It's like if a guitar player or a band that you really love listening to had great LPs that you listen to very often, had a web page where they released demos regularly. Imagine if Steve Vai did this very thing. That's how I feel about your gear review videos. I get stoked every time you post one. 🤘
Hi ya Pete, I really love that tone @ 11.45, you think its possible to achieve this in Logic 10.5, most of the drive tones are quite saturated to say the least yeh ?
Pete ! You Are Freekin Amazing !! All the tunes you dream up for the Intros to your Videos are sometimes unbelievable. Yea , that's how good they are. Hope you're doing well and staying safe. Cheers. 🎸
Almost perfect but missing 2 things: 1) Cab pan controls for stereo spread. 2) Room/Reverb sim would have made this an all-in-one solution. Loadable Cab IR's would be icing on the cake.

Hi pete, im Gils from indonesia, this pedal include preamp and cabsim. So could i disable teh preamp? It means i use the cabsim only
Thank you
if plug straight into the fx return you should get cab sim and bypass the preamp!
Is It good ti set a wrt dry wet with this?
I love finding new gear review videos of yours Pete. I love your playing and I can never get enough of your writing. It's like if a guitar player or a band that you really love listening to had great LPs that you listen to very often, had a web page where they released demos regularly. Imagine if Steve Vai did this very thing. That's how I feel about your gear review videos. I get stoked every time you post one. 🤘
Thank you Sean!
