    we have a 2014 CX 9 and it has worked perfectly for our family of 5 kids ages 6-15 and 2 adults. we are going to get the 2016 Signature model. no one needs captains chairs unless you don't have small kids and want it for the comfort, then go with a Lincoln Navigator. My husband works at a Ford/Lincoln Mazda dealership as their Ford Master technician, and it's the best value for the price out of any crossover.

      We've also taken 2 trips across country with the whole family and it's been fine! kids have their tablets, and there was plenty of room for all of our luggage for a week-long beach trip.

    Good review - you didn't just note the obvious things anyone could. I agree that this would be a good car for people who never even use the 3rd row and have no kids

      And rear passangers or kids now have 2 x 2.1Amps USB connectors for IPADs or any other Tablets on the rear seats. So is ready for the future (the new cx9 don't even have a CD player), only new stuff like Bluetooth, USB, etc.

    • @PartyStud69_Ph.D.
      @PartyStud69_Ph.D. 7 років тому

      Exactly. it's 2016, rear entertainment is an overpriced gimmick. Ipads have sorta made them irrelevant. And for a lot of us, 2nd row captains chairs take a serious dent out of the utility of a car like this, and utility is important when you're a homeowner and are schlepping stuff around (including dogs).

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar 7 років тому +3

      yeah we are strongly considering this as a family SUV and the headrest mount for an ipad is just so much easier and cheaper to work with. Most people already have a tablet so loading movies on them is a snap and you can use bluetooth headphones to stay quiet and keep two of them charged with those rear USB ports.
      Rear entertainment is realistically all you NEED for a "family" SUV. One could argue that a decently sized 3rd row area and more cargo room in the back would be nice but you sacrifice the driving feel that my wife and I both really liked with the CX9. It feels like driving a sedan and not a bigger vehicle.
      The fact that the middle row can slide forwards/back independently gives the 3rd row a big more leg room though and I'm not sure what the problem with the tailgate not going up higher is. For shorter people, it just means that remote close button is that much farther out of reach.

      FastRedPonyCar ai just purchase a base for ipad in amazon at 10usd and a samsung tab tablet at 129 usd. cheap way to add HD video play to the kids.

    First time for my to watch your channel. Excellent work. But please say something about the ride quality.
    Being a great handler usually comes at the expense of a somewhat firm ride. Ride is paramount for me. Thank you.

    • @cubanomx2

      the old cx9 had firm ride. the new one is less sporty, but is more pleasant for our family. It's really superior, by a lot!

    I used to have a Mazda 3 and now lease a Mazda 6. They are great cars but if the next generation Mazda 6 doen't come with a turbo, I'm going to have to go with an Accord V6 or Subaru. I like a little bit more power, that's my only issue. Other than that, they're great cars.

    I only thing I'll ever carry in my trunk is Groceries. Infotainment i don't give an F about it cause I barely use it in my current car. I won't need heated seat cause I live in the Middle East.
    And please it's not so behind time.
    It still has a Lane Departure, Blind Spot assist. Etc Etc

    I bought my 2016 CX-9 new 14 months ago. Last week the below zero weather hit here in Indiana and it has decided to stop running.. Mazda roadside towed to the dealers where it has been for 2 weeks now and they cannot get it going. It has 11,035 miles on it. Yesterday they sent overnight the PCM to Mazda to try and figure it out since the new one Mazda sent did not fix it. The tell me Mazda will get it figured out.Regretting the purchase right now

    Kids have their tablets and captains chair is a waste of useful space.
    It's a perfect crossover for my family with 3 kids.
    Last but not least, car should be more than a utility on the wheels and as you said cx-9 is the best as a driver's car, which is the most importance thing in a car to look at.

    why do you Americans like captains chairs so much???
    They are not practical you loose one seat so it becomes a 6 seater rather than a 7 and they aren't comfortable.
    Like here in Australia the Honda oddessy is offered in 8 seats on the basic then the step up which is the only other option which adds all the gizmos and good shit loses 1 seat and becomes a 4 seats if a family needs the space in the boot and the 3rd row needs to be down.
    So argue with that

    • @chutybutyful
      @chutybutyful 8 років тому +3

      Because we have fatter butts! And like most of us, we find comfort more proprietary than function.

      it adds third row accessibility, a sore point for the CX9

  • @rickyguti
    @rickyguti 8 років тому +2

    I think Mazda doesn't offer a RSE in the CX9 simply because THEY ARE OBSOLETE. I mean, who uses dvds? blurays? NOPE, EVERY kid, has an ipad, internet conexion, and netflix, THATS RSE these days, not DVD screens that have been around since AGES.

    • @stanmedianik4919
      @stanmedianik4919 8 років тому +1

      yes I agree, there are actually 2 USB ports in the middle of the second row to charge these tablets, ipads,etc.

  • @TorchRG0214808
    @TorchRG0214808 8 років тому +1

    Looking for a rear entertainment system? Go buy a Sienna or Odyssey instead. Most crossovers does not offer that anymore since parents know that cost of putting an iPad behind the first row is cheaper than getting one from the factory. Dislike

    • @cubanomx2
      @cubanomx2 8 років тому

      The Pilot have Bluray at the back in the more higher trim. But is better to have an Ipad or Tablet. Amazon sell Ipad accesories to install a tablet in the back for 19 USD. And the new cx9 have 2 x 2.1Amps USB at the rear seats, so is ready.

      You are correct it looks like the 3 and CX3, and CX5 but the chassis and motor is compatible with the 6. This is the very reason that most Mazda lovers are holding their breath to see if they will mate that 2.5L Turbo engine to the 6 frame. Zoom Zoom.
