Who knew the quickest way to reach the final frontier was in upstate New York?
Just a stone’s throw from Fort Ticonderoga, and just a few minutes from Lake George, is a hidden gem that has drawn in Star Trek fans and stars from around the globe.
“The Star Trek Original Set Tour” is a unique experience tucked inside an old building that decades ago housed a supermarket. Inside is a sprawling, intricately detailed recreation of the U.S.S. Enterprise, as seen on the original 1960s classic science fiction series.

I grew up there. We are family. He's a great guy, and he's been doing this since we were little kids. Jim is awesome and I try to see him every time I go to town to visit my mom and brothers. Was just there over the 4th of July. That studio is the building where my dad cut meat and my mom was a cashier in the 60's! So much love and respect for what Jim does for that town and for the fans. He's so meticulous and precise and nothing is ever "good enough". If you go, your expectations will be surpassed in every way. His staff is passionate, the studio is incredible, and the town is a gem.
I visited this set in Ticonderoga NY. It is amazing! It's hard to explain how it feels to be aboard the Enterprise!
The tour of the ship leaves you in awe. It is amazing. I drove 4.5 hours to see it and was not disappointed. I hear they are adding another set , so I may return.
I visited there last year all the way from Texas. Totally worth it for this Trekkie!
Wow those bridge graphics look incredible.
I met James and his team at the 50th anniversary convention in NYC, and they are all just amazing people. I hope to make it up to the set tour soon, it's a mecca for TOS. Great video about great people doing great things- thank you.
An indescribable feeling.
That was supposed to be last summer's pilgrimage. Hopefully, this year or next.
This is epic.
"Hailing frequencies open."
"Beam me up Scotty"
I have been there several times. They are always adding something new. Can't wait till the TNG set is ready.
THANK YOU!
Thank you for the insight
Amazing work! Looks just like the Enterprise!
4:08 Gene Roddenberry was an awesome creator and visionary. No racism nor prejudice in his mind, he just made good shows based off what _he_ thought the future would be like. At a Star Trek press conference a reporter asked him about casting Patrick Stewart as Picard saying "Surely by the 24th century, they would have found a cure for male pattern baldness." Gene replied "No, by the 24th century, no one will care." lol
I use to think my parents knew Mr Roddenberry because they were teaching me what he was saying every week... And that was before the first Trek show had been on.. My father enjoyed watching it when he did not have to work the night it was on... Telling us to remember what we saw because one day we would have it for real..
That's prettty cool man
Wow love it
Oh wow, that is just so COOL!!!!
R.I.P. Robert Douglas Grant
A pro modelmaker in the UK has undertaken a project to build an *entire* 1/4 scale model of the entire ship as it would appear from the outside. Roughly 2/3 the size of a football field.
Nice
Cool guy!
kewl!
As a teen, I drove up to Lake George with a friend in the late 60's. It was a fun place. If I had a need to go back there I would visit his creation, but I won't go back to NY until they respect the 2nd Amendment. If Essex County (Ticonderoga) declares itself a 2nd Amendment sanctuary county then I would travel across the USA to go there. Parts of NY are too dangerous to not have self protection.

Hi
Totally true what he said. Star trek showed an advanced civilization where people were just people. Nobody cared about your skin color or nationality. Humans advancing humanity togheter. And for a while it seems we were walking in that direction. But nowadays we are back to the racist society of the sixties. And it's all done by the self proclaimed "antiracists". So terribly sad.
First
I'm posting 3 years later and the racial and gender tension has just gotten worse. Until humans find a common enemy we will always be at each other's throats.
FANTASTIC ! 🎉❤😊 THE LOVE AND UNITY this show displayed back in our youth was phenomenal.
WELL SAID.
