You see Mac put it on during the intro scenes before the match starts. You also don't take any damage during practice but Mac still gets hit and loses hearts.
He has it naturally in hologram mode. In the intro you'll see him put it on before getting in the ring as Doc adjusts the hologram to the fighter. Mac CAN feel the punches, but he doesn't take any damage so you can practice all you want. to learn the patterns without consequence.

You can connect your Wii remote and you can use your mouse as the nunchuck, that's what I did
