  • Installing the cowl lacing and cowl vent. This is a 1952 Ford F1 half ton truck project that we retrieved out of a field of dreams. Will this truck start? Working on the box in the next video.

    I always appreciate it when people share details of just how long it takes to do these things. It gives a more realistic understanding of what is involved in restoration. Great video. Thanks for sharing

    The trying to fit something back together to make it look like no problems at all takes forever.. I like seeing how much time it takes to do something. Been there done that and people would ask why it took so long because it would look like you done no work at all. Takes time to look like you didn't have to do anything.

    I never met either gentlemen, but folks sure do have opinions on their respective legacies.
    Bottom line is that they are / were prolific car builders, and I fall somewhere WAY back in the shadows... a hack in comparison. They entertain us and they create cars that we can only dream of.
    I’m with you, sort of feel like it could’ve gone differently - at least in the end - for Mr. Coddington.
    In 2017 I was fortunate enough to get a builders pic at the Pittsburgh world of wheels for my 62C 10. Mr. Gene Winfield took time to tell me how much he liked my truck and told me the story of his first trophy on the flats then signed his autograph on a postcard commemorating the same event.
    priceless
    Love the truck! Always good to see you guys... hammered wind lace - timeless look.
    Happy New Year guys

      Thank you Bob for that story. My cousin Cory also met Gene at the World of wheels in Winnipeg a few years back, he signed his glove box door on his 35 Ford coupe.

    Hi Penny's Crew , nice video ...nice to putter around and get stuff done . With the border still closed would it be better now to get parts from the Ford guy that is near Edmonton , Alberta . Thinking of difference in currency as well as brokerage fees for crossing the border when ever it does . It's been years since I bought something in the USA and had it shipped from seller. Gee Whiz do I need to go to a swap meet , not just for therapy ... ya it would be great therapy ... to see everyone again ...You Guys , Brent pulling his wagon full of finds , Dan and Dani , and remembering Softy . Thanks again for showing the new video , the cab is doing great . Big Brother has a friend in his town with a black '52 pickup with green flames . '52 pickup... sounds like me trying to play cards at a family gathering !

      Thank you Greg. Yes a swap meet would be nice. The trouble with getting from the guy near Edmonton is, he does not have an online catalog, you have to get them to send you one or you have to phone, plus most of his stuff comes from the states also.

    I would be so paranoid putting that gasket on I'm thinking don't miss and then I would. Bad words would be heard for blocks. Like the truck like the color.

    might be easier to poke an ice pick up from inside the cab and put a pilot hole in the lacing right where you need it.
    you got the perfect setup with the windshield out so you can reach both easily.
    eliminates the guess work.

    Hi guys, those must be like screw shank nails. Going to put a little goop on it? You mean Gorilla Snot??? That's what we used to call it in Florida you know the 3M yellow adhesive for the rubbers. She's looking great guys can't wait to see the final product. Simply Beautiful.

    • @pennyshotrodscustoms
      @pennyshotrodscustoms  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Joseph, yes we had to put a little Gorilla Snot. The stuff we use is called Amazing Goop, it is a silicon based clue that is very sticky.

      @@pennyshotrodscustoms I definitely know what you're talkin about it's funny though Gorilla Snot that s*** gets hard as a rock though that's the only problem as the amazing goop is silicone base and never hardens it cures but it doesn't get hard. That sure is going to be a beauty when she's all done. I know the projects that I have seen you guys do so far are very impressive, you definitely should be proud of your work! Like they say if you can't do it right don't do it at all. Take care guys.

    Hey guys one more thing done on the ol truck only a thousand to go lol. Boyd built alot hot rods but i think the almighty dollar ruined him sometimes its better not to get to big as far as design better to do it for the love of the hot rod ,just my opinion. I also like Chip Foose's work but i think he usestwo tone paint jobs to much .

      I agree about Chip and his painting. Sometimes simple is better.

  • @OlysGarage
    @OlysGarage 3 роки тому +3

    As much as I knew, Boyd could be a real self-absorbed prick. On really rare occasions, he'd be a decent guy. Really rare.. lol Certainly the 'my shit doesn't stink' type. Loved his show though, his shop was LOADED with talent. The 'old guys' were the best to watch. Obviously he was a pain to work for, as most the 'then' younger guys that had promise in the industry, got the hell outta there. I don't know about Duane.... but something tells me you can't "act" a douchebag quite as well as he did, if you aren't one in real life. Karma caught up to him, some years after the show was cancelled, by way of a car accident in his hotrod. He got banged up pretty good, car was totaled, but he is still kicking. -- Truck is looking good fellas! Keep it up!
