I wouldn’t say that tank is complete useless, it can be use for keeping the fish for couple of days like a temporary shelter when the main tank needs maintenance, but not for long term purpose.
Yes! I think most people should have a separate tank or a container hanging on the edge for injured/sick fish or like you said when a problem happens in the main tank
He could’ve bought 4 10gallon tanks for the price of that lol
Same tbh

I love how he says that little tank on the shelf is so small like not even the size of his hand but then he puts 3 Bettas in tanks that small...😂

I was lucky to get a great employee who owns multiple male betas and a sorority tank. She helped me pick out amazing 5 gallon tanks with low flow filters and heaters. Is it fine if my betta lives in a 10G tank?
That's way too big :/
Theres no such thing as a tank “too big” a good environment for a betta would be in a coral reef in the ocean. Theres no “too big” tank. A 10 g is good for one betta im sure.
@@AVGVST_1 that's awesome ,the bigger the better .
Sir Bob they live in fresh water
You’re over there putting bettas in that POS tank when I just set up my 20g planted tank with a heater for my betta. Learn the right way to care for these fish
20g for one beta is too much I have my betta with 4 guppy for 2 years yet none of them died or chase each other/fight. Having a tank 10x bigger than fish doesn’t means ‘better care’ nor having a tank just a bit bigger than the fish is
@@shreyasi5263 friend, having a bigger tank has a direct correlation with longevity for Betta fish. A betta in a 1 gallon tank objectively has a lower quality of life than one in a 10 gallon. Also, 20 gallons is absolutely not "too much" for a Betta. Unless the fish is showing signs of stress, there is no such thing as "too much" space. The minimum tank size for a Betta is 5 gallons.
Also, 2 years? Seriously? Bettas usually live for 5 years, but can even go for up to 7. Nobody is impressed that you did the bare minimum.
You also never said your tank size, but with 4 guppies and a Betta, it should be 10 gallons at the very least. Even then, that's pushing it. Ideally it should be 20 gallons.
You can love your fish to the moon and back, but that means nothing if it's improperly cared for. A Betta stuck in a shitty 2.5 gallon tank doesn't want your love, it wants a bigger tank.
I have a 3 gallon for 1 betta
@@PatrickBateman88 good on you! 2.5 is the minimum for a single Betta (although many sources have changed this to 5 gallons), so 3 isn't ideal but def works. Honestly, I think a 5 gallon would work better (in terms of still being cheap and having adequate space).
The big thing is checking your Betta for signs of stress:
- "pacing" along the sides of the tank in a repetitive fashion
- tears in finnage
- dulled colors
Also with smaller tanks, you gotta check water parameters more often. By water parameters, I mean ammonia + nitrite + nitrate levels in the water (you can find test kits on Amazon and in any pet store; I recommend API brand). These can build up super fast in smaller tanks and, if too high, will result in death via chemical burns.
All in all, I'd say do your research. Nobody who keeps fish starts out knowing everything and preventable deaths happen. A great resource is r/bettafish (which is a subreddit). Very experienced people and happy to give advice! Keep up the good work!
Hope you and your fish are doing well!
Edit: oh also make sure you have a heater. Bettas are very temp sensitive and absolutely need a temp range from 76-80 (ideally 78-80).
Filters are a must, but Bettas like weak flow. A filter that's too powerful can cause them to stress out and nip their fins off.
@@ylvavarynkottir2265 um so you are saying I can build a pond and put 1 single betta and that is not to much space
I work at a petstore and I would never sell a bettta in a bowl!!! I always recommend at least a 5 gallon to start, bettas enjoy lots of room. And please cycle your tanks first yall 💛
Fr fr
You realize that Petco/petsmart will tell you anything to get you to spend money. If it wasn’t obvious enough, yes that tank is way too small. Even all 3 of those cups combined would barely be enough for 1 Betta. You should have at least 2.5 gallons for 1 betta.
I’m getting a betta an I’m getting 1 gallon
One of those are like .5

You should react to 'Planet Fishness' setting up a betta tank
You are taking better care of that plastic turtle than the actual fish
You could name the golden turtle "Torture" which is exactly what you are doing to those poor bettas you are going to buy!
Yes, bettas can live in small containers for several years, but they wont live a happy and healthy live. Imagine yourself living in a closet for your entire life. Yes, you probably wouldn't die, but your quality of living would be so poor you wish you were dead. I know you care about those betta fish otherwise you wouldn't have bought an expensive tank like the one you did in the video. Please consider returning that tank and getting a simple 10 gallon tank for $10 dollars at Petco and buying little dividers so the fish wont harm each other. I recommend getting ones from this website: www.lifewithpetsgci.com/store/p3/10_Gallon_Tank_Dividers.html
That would bring your total to about $30 but with much happier fish!
You could even buy an additional sponge filter and heater which would be about $20 and then you would have those fish in little paradises.
Thank you for reading and please try to give those fish the best life possible :)
Leah man this tank just this one mind you the filter sucks the bettas down the filter there are photos of bettas cut in half at the bottom of the filter also of dead bettas in the bottom of other betta tanks because they got sucked in to the other betta tank they should stop selling this tank

Think bettas are beautiful fish? Want to get one as a pet? ALWAYS do your own research first. Google appropriate housing, care, and feeding for ethical animal treatment. Give your pet the best care you can give it, and don't lie to yourself if you are unable to provide adequate care.
0:52 "I already know I'm getting comments that these are too small, but right there it says it's not too small. So I'm gonna go with PetSmart, and PetCo, and any pet stores' rules and get this sucker for the betta fish."
I just have to point out that you know better, but you chose to go for an inadequate tank for your own convenience while ignoring the bettas' well-being.
Relying on the advice of a chain pet store like PetSmart or PetCo is unwise, mainly because they just want to make money. Just because a pet store sells it doesn't mean it's ok. They sell sand for reptile terrariums, which can cause impaction in smaller reptiles. They sell goldfish as feeders for Oscars, for example, when goldfishes are high in fat (leading to fatty liver disease) and thiaminase (which destroys Vitamin B1, causing vitamin deficiencies in your fish). Pet store products (or any stores' products) don't pass an ethics test before getting put on the shelf. Just because someone is selling you something, does not mean that they want the best for you. They want your money.
This tank has a lot of problems, mainly:
- Water volume too small. The minimum size to maintain good water quality and swimming space is 2.5 for one fish. Most people wouldn't recomment below 5 gallons for a single betta. This set up grants each fish a meager 0.7 gallons.
- Stress from multiple bettas. The connecting walls between each compartment is clear, so that the fish will be able to see each other at all times. This can contribute to stress from over-flaring, shred fins, or fin-biting behavior (where a fish bites its own fins out of stress and frustration).
- Shared water. Given the above stress factors, it's highly likely that the fish will develop diseases or contract infections/parasites. Additionally, given that the fish share water, if one fish gets sick, they all get sick.
PLEASE LEARN ABOUT A PET BEFORE YOU GET IT, RESEARCH ITS NEEDS, AND DO THE BEST YOU CAN!
Danica Wells you are so right I was thinking the exact same thing it just isn't safe or health they probably died within 2 weeks maximum 1 month
Danica Wells also did he even clean the gravel??
iDrVoid Pretty much every stage is contentious. Plastic plants? Not ideal, silk or even better, live, are preferable. I doubt he's feeding quality pellets, live, or frozen. Probably the crap pet store pellets. No gravel rinse... Etc.
The worst part is that he's willfully ignorant. It would be less jarring if he got all this stuff, later learned his Bettas had less than ideal living conditions, and improved their setup. But we know that's not the case. He knows it's wrong but he goes, "Meh, whatever."
It is pretty depressing good luck to your betta bet their dead already smh

I know it says on the box that it's suitable for them, but let's be honest, petsmart and petco will say anything so you would buy there products and most of the time, they don't know what they are doing and are usually just looking for quick money you also should have washed everything (including the artificial plants which rips betta fins.) And the water flow is not suitable for bettas. I'm probably going to get alot of hate for this but I don't care.
I never heard workers at the petco near me say anything like that
I’ve used this same setup I’ve never had a problem
Bruh I don't even know Yes, you may have had this tank for a while. But no, this is abuse. Each betta fish needs atleast 2.5 gallons to thrive, also a heater and a filter. Good luck having a betta fish for much longer.
bettas thrive BEST in 10 gallons. I moved my boy Bucky over to his ten gallon today. They need to thrive, not just survive. You’re borderline abusing your fish by keeping them in that.
Just like tiny tails, tiny fails, torture tails, etc for hamsters
I would only put 1 fish in there but I would cut a square in between each cube but big enough so it can fit through each
Love your videos ! 💗
Technically speaking, you could live in a bowl too.. Keep a betta in an aquarium 😛
yo imagine living in a refrigerator box your whole life, with some food. that's how those bettas are gonna feel.
Priya k
think about what you just said.... just think about it
What the fuck only human has intelligent to realize though but the fish don't have super intelligent but they have brain use your mind🖕
@@priyak3337 point is...the tank is too small.
Honestly I’d be OK because I’ll never know what the outside world is so I think that the fridge is the biggest place on earth
They can survive in 1 gallon if water. And online said it to he should it. He knows what he is doing so stop wasting your time on hate comments
bestie the least you could’ve done for the fish if buy them a live plant since you’re sticking them in a 2 gallon tank 😐
Great torture device!
A guppy would suffer in one of those “tanks”
Dude this is the second video I’ve watched from you. I can tell you really love fish, but man from what I’ve seen and read you haven’t really educated yourself on really anything aquatic. It’s really important that you do your own research on this stuff from multiple websites. People watch this who aren’t very well educated on fish which is totally fine but a lot of times they watch to become more educated so in order for people to start taking better care of their fish you need to take the extra step to know what you’re doing. Hope you take these comments into consideration and make a change otherwise you seem like a cool dude.
Skye Haines you are 1 of the few people who did not insult but informed
Hank
Betta and waterfalls, bad idea.
Hes changed and he knows lots about fish
I’m getting a betta soon ^^ and I’m watching loads of betta videos lol
Then take this as a lesson on what not to do.
I want to comment on the opportunity you were given. Did you make a video of this training? I 💚bettas!
You should make the turtle something like "Betta fish need at least 2.5 gallons".
They need 5 gallons or 10 gallons
@@mrstroodley 3 gallons is fine tho
@@illfated6942 "even less than 2 gallon are fine".. this is came from Betta Keeper from South east asia and won several betta contest..
@@rezaalanshari1587 really?
@@illfated6942 Yeah, did you even realize that only Westerner are the one who said "minimum was 5 gallon, minimum was 2.5 gallon, minimum was 10 gallon".. You can search betta collector in Thailand, Indonesia or Malaysia, most of em keep their High Quality betta only using 20x20x15 cm.. it's less than 1 gallon..
Yo this tank is like actually disgustingly small; of course the pet stores aren’t going to advise you against buying their own products.
Because they can't grow the balls to tell you how to actually care for pets so they don't lose money. But you know kill as many animals as you want right?
He is now much better than before
Anyone else watching Paul’s old videos in 2020
that whole thing is a betta fish torture chamber. you should always use silk plants in a betta tank because any type of plastic, hard or soft, will destroy your fish's fins. betta fish also need a tank of AT LEAST 2.5 gallons which is even still too small, a 5 gallon is preferred
About to say the same thing
10 gallon is also ideal
yes thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got mine in a 3 gallon and he loves it. He swim all over n does tricks for me. Wen I was younger I seen them in bowls n last up to 6 years n healthy as hell. It all depends how well they're taken care of.
They recommend 2.5 for breathing room. Look it up
Dude.... that’s like a 3-4 gallon tank max. For like $50
You could get a 10gallon, filter and heater for that much....
YizTheGreat I won a 5 to 10 gallon at pet smart with cool glow gravel I just need to buy a filter, food, and goldfish. It was under 30 so that's good
LITGAMER 7 no goldfish, goldfish require a minimum of 40gal FOR ONE
YizTheGreat haters goin hate
Goldfish have much larger tanks requirements. Educate yourself before getting live animals.
Big City Bettas boi shut the hell up.Who do you think to say educate yourself.Boi
I know those are small tanks for a betta but it's better then the cup they were in at Petsmart.
Paul : were on a budget
*Puts back a REAL PLANT for an artificial
Me: Really Paul 👀🙄🙄😠😠😱😫
This tank is very dangerous. Not only is it too small, but bettas can fit through the slots, get trapped inbetween, or get into another's tank. Just because the box says it's big enough, doesent mean it is.
It's a cool idea if they would make it bigger, and safer.
But in all honesty it'd be a cute plant only aquatic terrarium.
They don't get stuck at all. I had bettas in the same tank but, I ended up moving them to 5 gallon tanks because the waterfall tanks are way too small.
Ok. That doesent mean it can't happen though. Some people have had that happen.
Lexi's Veggie Food there’s a clear top on each tank
“Why not make them all artificial” Smh 🤦♂️
IKRRRR that's so rediculous
There is nothing wrong with artificial plants. They don't hurt the fish or anything, a Betta is not gonna know the difference and they are less expensive and you don't have to maintain them. Sure, real plants are lovely but having artificial ones isn't the end of the world. What other people do with their tanks is none of ur business. I'm not saying it's right, but start living ur own life.
@@ceceliatruscott4588 Thanks for this info! I have a beta myself and want nothing but to make him happy. Originally I thought you had to have a live plants so I started stressing about it and researching it. The main reason why I’m not getting live plants is because truly I don’t think I’ll be able to keep them alive. I was never a plant person. Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever kept a plant alive for more than a week.
@Name.’s Pet Care: A utopia of pets live plants are more work
@@EezoTheChezo depends on the plant and if you are lazy you shouldn’t keep pets
So if I put a tadpole in a bowl that would be too small too wouldn't it? The whole one inch per gallon thing is outdated bad. Proper filtration and room to swim is the key. You can have more fish in a 10 gallon than the one inch rule if you increase the filtration. I know this is not a 10 gallon but just using as a reference.
Your a good you tuber I watch you almost everyday keep making more videos cause I love them❤🙂🙃
Haven’t watched the full video, but please for the love of god don’t put betta fish in that tank, it is too small and they can see each other. Betta fish CANNOT be kept in that kind of tank, they need at least 5 gallons if not 10.
I’m the wild they live in wide open lakes with little puddles and they can jump to different puddles and water spaces and they don’t mind small spaces but bigger is always better but they one that he has is SO SMALL AND 2 MALE BETTAS CAN KILL EACH OTHER BY STRESS so they will be starring at each other and that’s bad for bettas and if you don’t believe me then search it and everyone at pet smart lies to you so you can buy the item...
Luna just be happy that they have a home
do you own fish?? Do you own bettas??? I don't think you understand how stressful it will be for the fish. I do agree that at least they have a home but it not a great one.
I had a betta in a half gallon and it lived for 3 years 5 gallons not even necessary
Ella Campanelli lmao it died already it was really happy and it had a cherry shrimp with it, why are you judging how I keep my fish it was literally fine
10:28 literally pouring water into a plug socket
Paul: perfect Dog: owa
Hi God bless all of y'all and always know that God and his son Jesus both love all of y'all in Jesus mighty name I pray Amen.
I love the design of the tank but I'd feel bad housing anything alive in there
TopFurret honestly it would probably make a cool aquatic plant only vivarium
I feel like this tank should be a good grow out tank for live plants but i would personally only keep snails or plants in but even i would say this is too small for betta fish even shrimps
@@georgia_the_welshpony5513 no its pretty good
@@georgia_the_welshpony5513 Yeah, snails and plants would probably be safest for a tank that size.
Dude.
Tiny living space? Fake plants? You’ve made betta fish hell. You probably didn’t know any better, but please do your research before you get a pet!
Pet store employees lie to you. They are trained to and will likely be fired if they don’t. You can’t always trust them implicitly.
Betta fish need WAY more space than that; also, they don’t like too much water movement so the overflow system isn’t good for them.
They also need a heater as they are tropical fish that need a temperature of 70-75 degrees (if not more)
@@shrekscumslut1341 72-80 F
I'm glad to see people who know how take care of betta, everyone seems to trust betta can live in a half gallon

Idk much about Bettas but dont they need at least 2.5 gallons or is it 5 gallons?
@@notpasta202 "At least" it's 2.5, but i think it's a little small, but bigger is the tank, longer your fish will live (i have a 6.6 gallon)
Yep, that thing is definitely sick alright. You said it yourself lol.
