Of all Bob's paintings, I think this one is my favorite. That moment where he applies the first bit of Spanish moss with the fan brush is just... perfection.

Bob was unintentionally the Father of ASMR. His voice is so relaxing, soothing and made me sleepy back in the day when I first saw him. I watch him to be relaxed and get ASMR still

Bob is a patron saint of it yes, but Mr. Rogers was the one who gave me ASMR first...not that it matters, they were both wonderful people.

Water doesn't have a 'H' in it. He also says h-why or h-what or h-whisper. He only does it with words that start with 'wh.' A lot of Southern people do it.

I am watching him, late at night when it's all simple not a noise except my rabbits infrequent scratch or drink and tsh tsh tsh shooooooot let's do that, let these things just floooowwwwww tsh tsh tsh tsh I fell not only do I get particularly mellow but so does my rabbit, less frequently does scratch not drink

This gives me ASMR! Highly doubt Bob knew about it in the 80's and 90's so this is highly coincidental I think.

This is my single favorite Joy of Painting episode.
Same. It's the only one I know of where he uses this technique, of laying down a wet undercoat, then more solid highlights, and dabbing them together.
Just such a genuine soul.

How is it that a small television studio in Indiana where this show was filmed could do a better job of picking up soft quiet voices than any given Hollywood studio? I swear, I can understand Bob clearly while I have to turn on subtitles most times when professional actors speak softly just so I can understand what in the world they’re saying.

after a couple of days it's really quite easy. some practice to nail some techniques but yes, very easy indeed.
+Earl Grey yeah its very easy....anyone can paint like this with a bit of practice. i teach beginners this style to get them interested and started in painting (because its quicker and easier than most other styles of painting).

I know that Bob likes to draw and paint outdoor scenes. But, it would be great if he could include some wilderness bird life. I enjoy seeing the red cardinal or a Blue Jay. ♥️♥️♥️
