I have tried something new: after cleaning okra. cut to size, laying okra out on lg baking sheet( not crowded), stick in freezer & kinda flash freeze, then bag. i use vacuum seal also. This new for me, but this okra is mostly for future Gumbo.

I am not a fan of Okra, but my Husband and Son Loves it. A friend gave me a plant that is finally producing Okra, probably too late to get many since it’s already getting cold here in Ohio but she also gave me a lot to freeze. Thank God I found your channel, they can have Okra all winter. Thank You

We have a garden and every year due to the weather we have to replant our okras. My husband and I love okra, but our children do not. Last year we planted over 15 okra seeds and we harvested hundreds of okra and presented them to our neighbors, family and friends and still had plenty left to preserve for ourselves. I've been preserving them very similar to how you do it. Thank you for the additional tips I learned through watching your video.

Great video. I do like you do but after letting it drain I slice it then bread it in cornmeal/flour mixture then lay it on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet in a single layer and put in the freezer for a few hours. Then I put it in freezer bags and freeze it. This way I can just take out what I need (I'm the only one that eats okra) and fry me up a batch. No thawing needed.

I certainly wouldn't be annoyed if someone call me addicted to okra. 🤣 I want to grow more okra next season (I'm in central FL so okra planting season starts early) and have been trying to figure a way to preserve it without pickling or canning. I figured freezing it the way you've shown would be the way to go, so I'm really happy I found your channel today. Thank you so much for sharing, though I'm going to have trouble waiting for months for the okra to be ready to harvest. 🙃
