    The man knows football and everything he says makes absolute sense.Players are not DEVELOPED like in the past.Sometimes games almost feel “choreographed”.Same plays over and over.Definitely see where QBs stagnate.The best QBs are intelligent and can make those snap decisions and take charge of a play.

    • @unc54
      @unc54 2 місяці тому +3

      Tbf Brady was also listing the elite QBs of those eras. But I also think part of it is that almost all our elite QBs are relatively young and have much higher base athleticism than the previous generations. Aside from Rodgers everyone else is under 30 and all of them are mobile enough to keep defenses honest. So it makes sense that they wouldn't be as focused on pre-snap alterations when they have the ability to buy time post-snap to make plays. But as they age we'll likely see the field general aspect come out more.

    • @jobunaga4178
      @jobunaga4178 2 місяці тому +1

      it's because teams that suck are the one that draft the most promising QB prospects. and since they suck their GMs and coaches are on the hot seat. so the GMs and coach put the promising, but undeveloped, QB out on the field before they are ready and ruin them in a bid to save their own asses.

    Brady and Manning both worked very hard on the mental and preparation of the quarterback. Patrick Mahomes keeps improving, keeps learning, and studying. I look at a player like Kyler Murray that ONLY relies upon his outstanding athletic ability. He doesn't do any film work. Mahomes spends hours each day on studying film, taking notes, and asking the coaches how he can do better. Some of these athletic qb's don't do ANY film study.

    • @CerebralSigma
      @CerebralSigma 2 місяці тому +4

      Because they solely rely on their athleticism. Brady didn’t have that. He started from the bottom and worked his way upward. Whereas the ones gifted athletically are automatically at the top of the food chain, so coaches treat them differently. Take Michael Vick for example. He never took film study and game preparation seriously until he got with Andy Reid. You want to know why? Because all of his life coaches heavily relied on his elite athleticism to win them games. Their mentality was as long as Vick has the ball he’ll create magic.
      The fiercest competitors are the ones who have something to prove (like Brady, Lamar, and Purdy). They will not give up until they achieve their goal. Something inside of them won’t allow them to.

    You could make the Argument that there isn’t a direct *NEED* to develop better QBs because the defenses are softened intentionally. Now teams can quickly manufacture QBS on a whim and replace defective ones overnight. Think of it as Amazon Prime delivery for QBS. They aren’t as polished because they don’t need to be. The NFL just wants more product and bigger numbers. So we lower the bar of entry.

    • @unc54

    Teams set their QBs up for failure. They don't draft a QB to develop into a star, they draft a QB to instantly be a star, to save the franchise. They draft these guys out of college and pay them bazillions of dollars before they've even played a snap. They have no choice but to be great right out of the gate. And if they're not, they're gone, and the team gives up on them.

    He left meat on the bone maybe b/c of the union. The off season rules prevent these players from spending extra time with their coaches in the offseason to learn which is more than running routes on air at the beach with your teammates. Plus these coaches get head jobs too quickly and they are more concerned with running their systems and playbooks than developing players. Many of them don’t empower their QB’s to call the offensive play or audible. Patrick has had a great head coach his entire pro career who empowers him and works with his strengths and improved his deficiencies since entering the league.

    Whether anybody realizes it or not, this is a goat discussion and the way Patrick Mahomes is going now, Brady might not be in this discussion forever. While there is no question that Brady is the greatest of all time because he's won the most championships, a lot of people would dispute that he is the best because they preferred Joe Montana's technique. At this point, there is no question in my mind that Mahomes is the best. He's done things that neither of those two have done. He just might win more championships than Brady at this rate. My favorite is still Montana for the reason that he played on what I consider the best team in NFL history with the best players that almost every position displaying great technique and dominance over their opponents, who were also some of the greatest teams ever to play. There's no way they could compete in today's NFL because players are a lot bigger and let's face it, the sport is about men running into each other, so many of them wouldn't even make today's teams. Many times players at their positions weigh 20 or 30 lb more than they did. But they did things expertly and skillfully and their techniques are still being copied today

    I feel this is because post-snap has become more important than pre-snap in the NFL. What once used to be solving problems before they happened became solving problems while they happened because the QB got more athletic. Why make adjustments at the LOS when you can buy time with your legs and allow for a scramble drill to happen?
    On top of that playcallers are more powerful than ever. Look at Kyle Shanahan. Extraordinary football mind but he never allows his QB to audible. MVP Matt Ryan famously couldn't switch out of plays during the Super Bowl. It's not because he wasn't capable but rather because the coach didn't allow him.
