I saw Rammstein live this year in Lisbon, Portugal. There were people from all over the world and it was the greatest show I have ever witnessed live. And believe me, I've been to countless concerts! They are very careful with pyrotechnics, they take a week + to build the stage and prepare for everything.
They are also very theatrical and there's no moment of dullness. Till's voice is extremely powerful and so is their message. Once you start learning the lyrics and the stories behind them, you find a lot of sadness related to germany's place in the world wars, a lot of trying to find answers to disgraceful human behaviour, a lot of love vs. hate debate... philosophy and Till is a poet and a bit of a fallen angel. Very misunderstood as well, because he is big, with a very low toned voice... looks threatening but he's quite shy. He also has some great performances using his voice in a very classical way and it's breathtaking! And the band is trully grateful for their fans, it's a beautiful thing to see.
Saw them in 2012. I'll never forget it. Best show ever. We were on the floor, decently close to the stage. We could feel the heat of the pyrotechnics. Edit: I have footage of it on my channel!! And my profile pic is Til during Engel, from that show as well. 🤘
Yes! Pretty much what you said! I too was at the show in Lisbon this year, right downin the Feuerzone and it was wonderful! I have seen them perform live many times now since 2001 in several countries I am lucky to say, and it is almost like addiction! And the atmosphere, the people the other fans, everything is just genuinely EPIC!

One of the commentators is right: the song is important and scary, it is about the horror of nuclear war. In the first video project, the band is sitting in the cockpit of the Enola Gay bomber, on its way to Hiroshima. Japanese survivors said the flash of the bomb was brighter than ten thousands Suns: here comes the Sun, nuclear fire is coming to your city, it is the brightest of all, and will burn your face hidden in your hands.
They count 1 to 10, from the moment the Bomb is released to the moment it goes off.
Then you hear heavenly voices, and the band kneels: they pray for the victims of the atomic bomb.
The project of this video was abandoned, Rammstein was afraid it will shock and hurt the japanese.
Never heard that they actually did already stuff for it. The only time when I heard about it, was at the "Making of" of the video "Sonne", where they said, it was one of the ideas, but then they came up with the Snow-white-Story, because Oli put it in together with this song.
The song itself was written for one of the Klitschko-brothers, where both are boxers for the entry and the counting to 10 has to do, when they are going down and try to get up again. The management thought it is to hard and so they rejected it. I am leaving on another earth? Or why I feel your story is so wrong.
By the way, I am a fan since 26 years, but maybe even I did not get everything.
@@andreagruber5813 That's what I said, it was one of the ideas, but it was abandoned. Since we both agree on that, I don't undertand your criticism.
@@Tiisiphone It sounds like they made already clips for it, while they did not and well, Paul only said something about the Idea, but never said the counting to drop the bomb or whatever. It seems like, some stuff are added, what Paul did not say, or I watched another video, who knows. I am only tired of people, who have not really good informations and spread misinformation. I already was reading that Richard grew up in New York, while ALL grew up "behind the wall". There are some people out there, who have no clue about the band and spreading BS, that is, why I get a bit critical in the last time, when I read things, which I never heard in this way before.
@@andreagruber5813 I never said they made clips with the "nuclear idea". All the rest is only my interpretation of the song according to this idea. Feel free to have another one. And again, I never said Paul or anyone else said anything else about it.
If this is the result of you misinterpreting me (language barrier?) then no big deal.
But if you are now accusing me of spreading fake news with this very aggressive tone of yours even if I was always polite with you, then seek like elsewhere.

I only explained, that I red a lot of misinformation in the past and I also explained, what I know from the "Making of". "Aggressive tone?" Sorry where? If you feel "caught" than it is only in your mind, I just was wondering. That is why I wrote at the first time, how long I love them and that even I might not know everything. If I would critic you truly, I would not admit, that even I could be wrong. What is the matter with you? No one, who is ranting at others will ever admit that they are wrong. You guys should totally go to a live show, not Rammstein specifically (although they are fantastic live) but any metal stadium show. Just to take in the atmosphere and the crowd. Metal crowds are great!

I have been at the front at a Rammstein concert (indoors). The fire feels hot, like you are outside at a bonfire. It's a spectacle that you feel you are actually 'in' rather than watching.

I'm a huge Rammstein fan, I was this year on a concert of them. I have to say, the fire in the video is nothing compared to the fire this year 😅 I interpreted the song a lot (I speak german too), but what the group adds is so intresting! ❤

The videos tend to be blocked more often for a lot of channels, even tho others can get by showing them. The live videos almost always get the okay from UA-cam for reactors
I don't think it would have been. I think if they had used the original video that we wouldn't have a video to watch. It almost certainly would have been hit with copyright regardless of fair use.

There were never any charges against Till Lindemann, only allegations from several anonymous women. Which turned out to be untrue during the investigation. The investigation was then dropped. There was never a police report, the Irish woman and the anonymous women only reported to the media and the media has used this to badmouth Rammstein since the beginning of their career. And next year they will celebrate their 30th anniversary with another big stadium tour.

There were allegations but they didn't turn out to be "untrue", they were just not verified as the women did not officially take part in the investigation (understandable since there would very obviously be no lasting physical evidence for a conviction plus how victims are treated by police).
The media didn't use this to "bad mouth Rammstein since the beginning of their career" because this only became publicly known in the last year or so. One German woman actually came forward, a friend of a Rammstein member's daughter, to say Till Lindemann had been with her when she was 15 (he was 47) and as an adult she realizes how wrong and disturbing that was. This was never officially denied like other allegations. And the band DID fire Alena Makeeva, and end the row 0 afterparties.
Personally, I did see Till walk up and grab a young female fan a few years ago which is why I'm more inclined to believe this sort of thing with him. A lot of rock stars do harass and assault women, it's really not that shocking

Perfect background informations
A key to understanding this song, IMO, is knowing that it was originally written for a championship boxer entering the ring. The whole counting to 10 as when you count out an opponent who is knocked out. The light coming from his hands refers to the power of his punches, and so forth.

However the song is not about the importance of the sun, it's about boxing. The count to 10 is the count they do in boxing to see if someone can still fight on.

@@sarahallegra6239 oh well. We all have different tastes. The same applies for me with Korn. Rammstein on the other hand are the best band I've ever heard. For me they have that magic sound. Obsessed with them.
Would highly recommend reacting to Deutschland by Rammstein, it's a very emotionally complex song dealing with the history of Germany.

Listening to music, whether it is secular or spiritual, is not comparable to drinking a cop of tea. And you guys are supposed to be more spiritual advanced than a western world.
The original intention was the song being about Hiroshima and the sun as a metaphor for the bomb. They changed it because it would have been too controversal.
