Here's a reminder that China has the world's largest high-speed rail network, with currently around 38,000 km/24,000 miles of lines.... America has a long way to go to try to rival that
Culturally Americans have an independent car centric mentality. Not that many care about trains tbh the ability is there the willingness to do it is not. USA also has 1/5 the population of China spread out over a lot of land it’s just doesn’t make sense for the USA to build such a high speed network. The places it makes sense is like in California , Texas, Northeast etc. where the population density is high so I can only see a regional high speed networks forming instead of a country wide system. Which they already are just haven’t been finished yet.
@@DontUputThatEvilOnMe I absolutely disagree, any country that uses a rail system to go from state to state can use a high speed rail system. The only reason america will possibly never build a high speed rail network is because there is just so much money circulating and expended on planes and car, the rich will never "want" to spend the money to build one that reaches across america. nevermind the amount of money they will lose from people taking less planes or people not buying as much gas. And even if america was set to build one, considering how terribly long america takes to build things, how long with it take? 50? 100 hundred year? Lastly, do you really think people would prefer to use cars or planes for state to state travel if they had a high speed railway? Unlikely.
@@DontUputThatEvilOnMe It’s not that they don’t want to. They can’t because it will cost a lot because of capitalism. Each part of the land is owned by different people, so if they want to use the land, they’ll have to pay more than what China does to build an actual train network. This means that it’s rather pointless to build one.
I hope one day, Toronto (in Canada) can host the Winter Olympics. Main problem is our mountains aren't very high. We would need to build a mountain to accomodate the downhill skiing events -- crazy expensive for just skiing events that last only a week or so....
actually Chinese people are very good indeed you never have any criminal cases in that country you can walk alone on midnight along women or girls once you reach to downstairs city it's always clouded people surrounding and lot of robotic security to routine check over most hotspot tourist area in whole china country
For epidemic prevention, foreign personnel entering China need to complete the isolation procedures before they can get the green code,The isolation time for foreign participants related to the Winter Olympics has been shortened,Because the isolation time for foreign participants related to the Winter Olympics has been shortened, the corresponding potential risks have increased, In order to offset the additional risks, a bubble has been established, in which all Olympic related activities are in the bubble, closed loop operation, separated from the main social groups in China,Reduce risks and ensure the safety of the whole society...If the people in the bubble are willing to go through the extra detection and quarantine procedures, they can get the green code,And then they can go wherever they want.
Because many foreign media reports falsely about China. As Chinese people, I really appreciate the foreign friends who can introduce the real China to the world.Thank you so much beauty, I wish you a happy day!❥(^_-)

@@CopyKatVlog Since I retired in 2009 I usually spend 6 months every year in China and 6 months here in UK. I always take the fast train from Beijing to Jinan in Shandong, where we stay with my mother in law and then go on to Weihai on the coast, which takes about another 3 hours. Then we flew to Chengdu and from there, travelled by train from West to East, plus going on 3 Gorges cruise to Wuhan, starting from Chonqing.
We've been to most of the sights around Beijing over the years and take the Metro.
@@MrDavidc Wow, you travel a lot in China.
I havent been back to China homeland for three years!
New Zealand border not open yet.
Sad …
@@MrDavidc 羡慕!疫情期間香港人都不可以去中國,很想回國內旅行。
So glad to see you were enjoying yourself and showed the world China’s state-of-the-art infrastructure!!
I take the fast train from Beijing to Zhang Jia Kou every two week. Really nice train. The 5G signal is quite good even when it pass through the tunnel. Good enough to make video call.
Thank you for sharing. Cheers from San Diego. We have 20C sunny weather here. We never have snow in San Diego. However, we can go to the mountain to see snow if we want. I use to live in Madison, Wisconsin. It starts snowing there in mid November until April.
Hope you enjoy the journey and welcome back again to see more of the beautiful Beijing!
I would have loved to see the trains full of spectators and families of the compeditors, then the visitors from the out side of China would have been able to counter the disparaging comments on the Western MSM, continuously painting a false narrative 💖🇨🇳💖🏴🏴🏴 love to everyone making the games a success from Wales
@Yong Zhou yes I realise but it was just wishful thinking, as I am retired and I have time to watch the brilliantly athletes and enthusiastic volunteers, but wester commentaters keep dropping little acid comments reminding us about where it's been held 💖🇨🇳💖🏴💖
Ah yes, I see the guy at 8:08 is training to try out for China's curling team
Got to travel from our country to Beijing on my own train back in 2019 and loved every minute of it. China has such gorgeous scenery
I loved your videos. Thanks for making the world a better place! Thanks for making a difference!
I went about ten years ago. It was so advanced it was eye opening as an Australian
The colorful thing around the suit of Bing Dwen Dwen (the mascot) is a colorful representation of the "ice ribbon".
Oh good to know 🙏❤️
@@CopyKatVlog The colorful thing around the suit of Bing Dwen Dwen is actually the Olympic rings with the same colors as the rings.
Really impressed In China, it's very fresh and modern.
Best part of HSR is not only the speed and you can do a transfer of train in just 15 minutes.simply go up and look for your departure train and I down you go and speed off again
I wish I could see the Great Wall covered in snow. That would be fantastic!
Please show more of China. All we get from the western media is negative. I want to see what China is really like
Thanks for showing your vlog. I have not traveled almost three years due to covid. I love to ride on high speed train some day next time when I visit China again. 👍👍👍
Welcome to China
Whenever I am in China, I always feel very safe even late at night and was told by my American friends it is probably the safest country in the whole world since the 21st century because of high resolution cctv cameras!
And also the severe punishments including death for the perpetrators! So they know for sure they will get caught and will most definitely get punished and few will even try now!
@@pcstar123 Death? This isn't N.Korea where they give u death sentence for stealing or even robbery. The only 2 ways to get the death sentence in China is (1) Drugs, they take drugs related crimes EXTREMELY seriously there. (2) You kill another human in a really gruesome way. Even stabbing won't get u death sentence.
@@Commander_HW Rmemeber that if there are heavy amounts of fake bad news about China that happen in real time, how much about North Korea do you think exists.
yay trading no privacy and authoritarianism for barely lower crime rates that the government hides and makes the median not put the spotlight on it

Live in Beijing 8 years but last year came to Lausanne for studying, lost the opportunity to witness Beijing 2022.
Miss Beijing so much
Amazing video Kat ,thank you very much
I found the most amazing thing for these bullet train is. People these days preorder takeouts from by passing cities, say I will by pass Nanjing, I can order the famous duck before reaching there and have someone sent to the train platform. just hop off and grab my food during the stop time!! I wish they have that in the US!!!
It was great to see you athletes enjoy your days in Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Thanks but I am not an athlete, I am media
Love the game of thrones scenery.
it sooo reminded me of Game of Thrones :)
I miss you Beijing but haven't taken a subway nor high speed train when I was there. Hope you got to see Tiannamen Square and great wall before you leave Beijing.
I wish! Unfortunately we are in a closed loop and not allowed to leave it 😪
@@CopyKatVlog Maybe next time. Wish we will eliminate the COVID soon. Take care!
@@CopyKatVlog That's funny, I saw a video where they had tours of China wall organized for journalists but in a closed loop setting. Don't they have such tours available for athletes as well or other close loop visitors?
@@bobmorane4926 indeed you are right. they organised one tour on Feb 15th with 40 spots available. One of my colleagues won the spot and they went to see the Wall. I was working during those hours, so was no chance for me, sadly :(
@@CopyKatVlog 希望疫情快點過去,歡樂你來中國旅行,我是中國香港人也很想去國內旅行,羡慕你可以參加冬奧,謝謝你的視頻讓我可以了解奧運村里的情況。
Thanks for sharing! Yes, that would be great if they had hot coffee on the train. Have fun there!
i am so glad you are recording the truth about our city, may be it is not amazing, but at least it is not so negative as BBC CNN reported. we have suffered lots about that. thank you, hope you enjoy the game!
Nice , very pretty High Speed train in China ..
Thank you for showing this beautiful train. I can't wait to visit China again.
Me too !
👍Nice,We don’t have bullet train yet , but we do have a lot of bullet flying everywhere in US .

Lovely and amazing 👏 😍 ❤️
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Thank you so much :)
Clean, tidy, efficiently organized, please name a country who can do this kind of Job if you know.
Singapore is such a country. China modeled many of their policies after Singapore. A paternalistic government but not democracy run amok like the USA.
Thank you for the beautiful video CopyKat❤️❤️👍👍👏👏
Thank you for your video.👍
Greeting from NZ!👋
wow, impressive video! I wish you have a great time in Beijing!
多年前去过一次北京,夏天去的。

Peace and prosperity is the way to go for THE WORLD.
No matter what type of train you're on in China except for the older long haul trains, they are super clean even the Metro trains & stations are spotless and to top it off the price for tickets are next to nothing
Thank you for sharing. I haven heard about this high speed train from Beijing to Zhangjiakou but never got a chance to visit.
Thank you for sharing this and remind me how beautiful my country is! Haven't been back to my hometown for more than 2 years due to the pandemic and some other reasons. I miss my hometown and my country :(
Here's a reminder that China has the world's largest high-speed rail network, with currently around 38,000 km/24,000 miles of lines....
It's nice to see everyone's positive comments
Yes, I am grateful for everyone’s positivity 🎊
It's like that one movie and tv show, SnowPiercer.
Haha that sounds dramatic
I hope one day, Toronto (in Canada) can host the Winter Olympics. Main problem is our mountains aren't very high. We would need to build a mountain to accomodate the downhill skiing events -- crazy expensive for just skiing events that last only a week or so....
vancouver one more time(Calgary ok as well)
actually Chinese people are very good indeed you never have any criminal cases in that country you can walk alone on midnight along women or girls once you reach to downstairs city it's always clouded people surrounding and lot of robotic security to routine check over most hotspot tourist area in whole china country
但是不明白为什么世界对中国有那么多偏见。

Your video made me a homesick moment
For epidemic prevention, foreign personnel entering China need to complete the isolation procedures before they can get the green code,The isolation time for foreign participants related to the Winter Olympics has been shortened,Because the isolation time for foreign participants related to the Winter Olympics has been shortened, the corresponding potential risks have increased, In order to offset the additional risks, a bubble has been established, in which all Olympic related activities are in the bubble, closed loop operation, separated from the main social groups in China,Reduce risks and ensure the safety of the whole society...If the people in the bubble are willing to go through the extra detection and quarantine procedures, they can get the green code,And then they can go wherever they want.

one of the rare positive posts of center kingdom . nice to see. live long and prosper, safe journey home
Actually, you can adjust the angle of the seat, and you will feel more comfortable.
Nice 👍 Painting of Temple of Heaven on the Speed 😍 Train Window! Restaurants on board the train is like TGV !
They should serve some hot beverages on the train especially coffee/tea as these are standard drinks you would expect.
If the short-distance high-speed rail ticket is even cheaper than coffee, of course, small food and drinks will be provided free of charge in the first-class seat and business seat. If you yourself, all passengers can order meals and hot drinks on the train
Of course if they want hot beverages, they have to pay for it. I would gladly pay for any food or drinks sold on the train..
When I traveled China in 2019, they serve hot tea and coffee. I think the reason I don’t do it now if because of pandemic.
@@jenniferzhang864 I kept forgetting abt the pandemic restrictions, seeing all the cafes outside the loop are opened n life is as per normal, l forgot abt the strict restrictions on the train to the village n sports venues. My apologies. Have to delete my previous comment.
Forgot to mention that l am so used to paying for my hot caffe Latte/coffee at 7/11 n at supermarkets here in Japan, so convenient to just pay n we get a paper cup, with cream or sugar provided, n get it ourselves from the coffee dispensing machine, at the touch of a button. I wonder if there are freshly brewed coffee dispensing machine in China's 7/11 or supermarkets?

Thank you for your true voice. Welcome back to China one day in the future. This is a journey. This country is very big and has many different landscapes. It has 56 United nationalities and all kinds of food. Welcome, my friend.
The lady at the bracelet sales counter couldn't speak English. But at least she managed to pull her own supply of coffee out of fridge. I think it's a small private fridge for sales staff, not really a snack place serving the public.
疫情期间在公共场所这种饮食是要注意的
Her English may not be fluent, but she most definitely can speak English. Chinese starts to learn English from kindergarten these days.
@@gyzq well then she would hv explained to the guest journalist why there's no hot coffee.
@@medialcanthus9681 I guess she is not confident to speak English though. Chinese schools teach English since elementary school, that's true, but the teaching focus on reading and writing, actually, building vocabulary and grammar. So even though English is taught in school, most Chinese ain't confident to speak it. However, staff running public services during the Olympic should be trained to better serve people from all around the world. I'm surprised by the fact she was unable to explain..
Thank you so much. It's through videos like yours that people in the West can see a different China, one that's not typical of the gloomy, sad, negative vibe that the West would like to portray.
Great show and nice 👍
Just to point out, Zhangjiakou is not a part of Beijing, it’s a city within the Hebei province
