  • My supporters over on Patreon allowed me to spend £18 on wood working tools from AliExpress. With that £18 I managed to get four different tools, two of them are directly related to wood carving and the other two are more wood working tools but generally...they overlap
There's a couple of weird tools in there and a couple of "normal" ones and a few surprises from what are generally very affordable tools.
Thank you for viewing, check out the various links below if you'd like to see what else I get up to.

Hi! (14:09) I bought a similar in kit (20$CAD), the only problem is that the feral comes off easily and therefore, there is nothing holding the blade, you have to go gently, otherwise, they do the job !

3 years ago I bought the set of chissels for about 100E at Dictum. But not sharpened and without handle. After sharpening they became one of my favorite carving tool sets......

That just happens sometimes right? That's the reason why I can never rule out the cheaper tools.

A right interesting collection of tools there Clint. A good honest review. My favourite was the little folding ryobi that just could be handy when on the move when your big tool box is back in the workshop. Cheers Steve

Hey Steve, cheers! Yeah I think that little saw could be handy, the only thing is how long it'll last before it breaks, well see!

Can be great if you like green woodworking while camping! It's so pocket-able and neat. Looks great too

Hahaha, oh no why did I reveal my full name! Yeah...I guess I felt like I didn't wanna be too harsh considering I do in fact already use a load of cheap tools.

Being honest I probably wouldn't buy any of these tools. The gauge looked ruff, ? You only went with the grain? and not across it. Might be a bit better when honed and stropped.
The v tool although rather flimsy, would probably be great again if touched up a bit and probably great for doing things like 🪶 feathers or working in Bass wood or Linden.
    The rasp??? No thanks.
The saw? Your probably right, fall apart after a while.
I have some beavercraft tools, I also use Pfiel chisels ( love e'm) super sharp straight out of the packet.
    All the best 👍
    Cheers Les.
Don't you just love a bit of carving 😊 therapeutic and rewarding. Happy carving.

Hey Les, yeah to be honest I don't think I'd make a habit of buying tools from there. I didn't really think about a cross grain cut at the time, I think my brain was just trying to figure out what to do with all the tools!
Ah I love my Pfeil tools too! Definitely my favourite!

@ClintRoseCarving bit of an after thought, good job that gauge wasn't that sharp 🤔 and you didn't slip 😉 drawing the blade towards yourself !!
To be honest I don't think there is anything to compare with pfeil tools for carving. Normal chisels, love Japanese but could never afford them.
Good luck mate 👍 you probably do a lot more than i do, maybe commissions say so good luck with that if you do keep your fingers safe.
Not careless but picking up a chisel or gauge touched one of the others accidentally 🙃 yep cut fingers, they are so damn sharp. Leather strop work wonders ✨️ 🙌.

An interesting video Mr C. A follow up would be interesting to determine how well they keep their cutting edge. I think I'll keep my £18 (ha ha). All the best mate.

Why does everyone always say "chinese" tools when 95% of tools are made in China. I ordered some tools off Temu and a couple of the same tool from Amazon and they were the exact same tool with the exact same markings but I paid 5 to 10 times tor price on amazon.
