- This episode relates to the ups and down of a river angler in the search for big Chub. Sometimes the harder you try, the harder it can get to put that bonus fish in the net. In beautiful surroundings in the Kent countryside, angler Russ Evans travel light to move about this wild river section of the Upper River Medway.
With homemade stinky cheese and garlic paste will a big chub be tempted from this hard and tough section of river.

My spiritual home is that stretch! 👌
I've had spawned out Chub to just shy of 5lb and looking at them you know pre spawning they would be well over 6lb!
We renamed that stretch the Punisher as it will beat you up but it can really reward your efforts if you put the time in.
The Upper is so unlike all the rivers you see on the usual UA-cam videos as it's never clear and finding the fish is near impossible. 😂
Really is a case of fishing it and learning it's secrets and then when the stars align it all comes good.

Great video btw. I’m a member of PAS too, so recognised the place immediately! I fished the same stretch last Wednesday and like you did, found it very hard going, with only a couple of small Perch and a small Chub (on worm) using similar tactics and trying different baits/ varied hook lengths etc etc. it can be a very tough river sometimes especially when it’s in such a beautiful spot and the swims (that you can access) look so fishy! Just wondered if you’d found any of their larger cousins recently?
