So excited for your new addition! I’ve had 2 for a few years and not only do I not see too much about keeping these guys as pets, but mine are also getting to the size now where I’m like, “Whoah! Say goodbye to the fingers!” I need to find some keepers of larger ones I can practice a little with. Anyhow, they’re such cool animals.

Set ups looking good, i would recommend a mix of some different sand and dirt substrate and make it thicker as well, snapping turtles love to dig

What filter are you using in the tank

Good question! Its just a small one I found at walmart. Im going to be experimenting with different filters though because the duckweed gets sucked up in this one.

@@zareptiles cut a small circle of plastic that will float and put it around the filter it will stop the duck weed from getting into the filter without the filter sucking it u

Filter is a bottom suction, have 2 in my turtle tank.

mostly outdoors lol! The sand I already had and the plants came from etsy

At this point not sure lol! Ive killed a couple of filters now with the sand and duckweed lol! But they are your average aquarium filter from Walmart! Once he gets bigger he’ll need a canister filter

how fast do they grow in ur experince?

if you feed responsibly and dont power feed, they should be pretty slow growers. Typically about an inch a year is average
