This is the main reason why I like brawl the most. The adventure mode and the rollercoaster of emotions you experience during the cut scenes. When Ness was turned into a trophy it honestly broke my heart.
This hurts even more after you learn about the Earthbound/Mother series… Lucas had already been through A LOT… Lucas honestly had a really fucked up life. I praise him for always pushing through, despite being so depressed and anxious.
I love Lucas, but there isn’t enough Ness appreciation here! He’s just a kid, and he’s out here risking his life and fighting with immense power. After all that he’s been through, he’s still so selfless! He gives a reliable and comforting vibe. You just *know* you can depend on him when the going gets tough. He’s a good kiddo. Brawl is what made me love Lucas but now that I fully understand him I just love him even more. Like I now understand why he freezes up in fear. I really do miss this game mode despite its flaws. World of light is interesting but it's something else seeing characters actually interact with one another.

It's actually a fan theory and I'd like to believe it. Plus time travel is common in the Mother series
MrCornholio93 A lot of the characters in Subspace Emissary come from completely different timelines and universes. I don't think Ness meeting someone he's never actually met in his own series is that unreasonable in comparison. Plus there's also the theory that this is based on the City Zoo from EarthBound Beginnings, which takes somewhere around ten years before EarthBound.
When i first saw lucas run from the porky statue, i just thought he was scared of the statue itself, now after knowing what happens in Mother 3, i now know the true reason and i dont blame him
I really like this part in the story! First we have Lucas running away until Ness shows up and saves him and then they work together only for Lucas to have to watch Ness save him and turn to a trophie. He then comes across pokemon trainer who also trys to protect him but after seeing what happened to Ness he refused to leave Pokemon Trainer as he does not want to be alone again. When I was 9 and I first played Super Smash bros Brawl story mode this part in the story really help me want to save these characters.
Not gonna lie, it's kinda funny how Ness smashed the King Statue with PK Flash, as unless you had a New Year's Eve bomb on hand, that's the only thing that'd work on him. Even then, you'd have to be obscenely lucky. Also, on another note, it's pretty understandable that Lucas starts off as a big wimp; that's how he was at the start of Mother 3, after all. And it lets him grow pretty well as a character in this game's story, too, later having the courage to stand up to Wario and Galleom.

Ah man, Lucas was one of my Smash mains back then, besides the Ice Climbers, Pit, Sonic, Lucario, and ZSS. I really loved his role in Subspace and thought he was adorable. I didn't even mind him screaming out "PK Fire, PK Freeze, PK Thunder!" or whatever. I was kinda disappointed when he wasn't gonna be in Smash 4, but THEN, when he was announced for the DLC, I was SCREAMING for infinity. Because he's my favorite character. :) Nowadays in Smash Ultimate, I was kinda mad at the Palutena's Guidance for him, because Viridi says "Show no mercy!!! Launch that crybaby to the stars!!" First we have Lucas running away until Ness shows up and saves him and then they work together only for Lucas to have to watch Ness save him and turn to a trophie. He then comes across pokemon trainer who also trys to protect him but after seeing what happened to Ness he refused to leave Pokemon Trainer as he does not want to be alone again.
When I was 9 and I first played Super Smash bros Brawl story mode this part in the story really help me want to save these characters.

Not gonna lie, it's kinda funny how Ness smashed the King Statue with PK Flash, as unless you had a New Year's Eve bomb on hand, that's the only thing that'd work on him. Even then, you'd have to be obscenely lucky.
Also, on another note, it's pretty understandable that Lucas starts off as a big wimp; that's how he was at the start of Mother 3, after all. And it lets him grow pretty well as a character in this game's story, too, later having the courage to stand up to Wario and Galleom.

Ah man, Lucas was one of my Smash mains back then, besides the Ice Climbers, Pit, Sonic, Lucario, and ZSS. I really loved his role in Subspace and thought he was adorable. I didn't even mind him screaming out "PK Fire, PK Freeze, PK Thunder!" or whatever.
I was kinda disappointed when he wasn't gonna be in Smash 4, but THEN, when he was announced for the DLC, I was SCREAMING for infinity. Because he's my favorite character. :)
Nowadays in Smash Ultimate, I was kinda mad at the Palutena's Guidance for him, because Viridi says "Show no mercy!!! Launch that crybaby to the stars!!" That offended me. However, it doesn't stop me from loving him and making him one of my favorite Nintendo bois~ :3
