Nice Video !!!!!!!!! I love riding on the Empire Service because its a quick ride.I also had got a chance to ride in the cab of a P32AC-DM while it was going on the Empire Connection/Westside line.I am also supprised that Amtrak gave you permission to film up there because most railfans I know got a ticket for that.
I used to work for a company that had its location at 31st Street and 10th Avenue. It had to move when the LIRR Camere Yard was built on that site and neighboring sites. I used to stand on that parking lot on the way to and from work to watch the trains.
The first 3/4 of the video was shot from bulding no 434 adjacent to the parking lot, where they kept unused garbage can. In the end it was shot from the parking lot that used to be there. Both parking lots have been closed for new development.
@KyleVideoDesigns That is a dual mode P32ACDM. It take sin electric power from the 3rd rail from shoes like the LIRR. Then can switch over to the prime mover when the 3rd rail ends.
This video was shot from the parking lot on West 33rd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues in Manhattan, looking South. LIRR, NJT, and Amtrak Trains are seen, with the LIRR Camere Yard, the Hudson Tunnels, and Amtrak’s Hudson Line to the Right, Penn Station’s Yard A straight ahead under 31st Street, and Penn Station to the left. The entire open air area measures 528 Square Feet.
By the way, the building that was replaced by the building you used was the long time home of the publishers of the Official Railway Guide, the Railway Equipment Register, the Passenger Equipment Register, the Official Airline Guide, and other such publications.
i have a qustion do amtrak NJT and all the other commutor rails go under the mta train yard cuz when i go on google maps and to new york penn station it shows where u were spotting and then the mta yard
I could sit here all day and watch those trains... Great Video!!
That was the best spot to watch trains!

@lostdaflame101 Yes they are working, but the LIRR Train run on 3rd rail power.

@mcrrocks80 LIRR are actually heading to the yard, no passengers. NJ Transit is heading to New Jersey.
@swarlock thank you
What's the difference between a diamond pantograph (the one on the ARROW III) and a regular panto like the one on the ALP-46, besides its shape?
A diamond pantograh IS a 'regular' pantograph!
The other style is a French creation called a "Faivley".
Great video.... that cut between 9th and 10th Aves is gone now.
@Thunderheadpros Thanks
